Simply a wonderful, welcoming, supremely comfortable spot - calling it a 'place to stay' doesn't do it justice...perhaps home away from home, if home came with multi-course gourmet breakfasts brimming with locally sourced treasures. Christine is an extraordinary and generous host who has anticipated any need you might have (fridge? coffee machine? dishes/glasses to 'dine in'? comfy bathrobe? lightning fast wifi? local information? - yes to all, and more!). Rooms are spacious, elegant and very comfortable. As others have said, the location can't be topped, and despite being 'by the side of the road', and in the heart of the Beamsville bench area, noise was never a factor. If she offers you the caramelized pecan French toast, say YES, show up hungry, and don't book lunch anywhere that day! Highly recommended, terrific value, and we're looking forward to returning.

This place was great. Perfect location to get to all the wineries in the area. Right next door to Redstone, A short walk to Bench Brewery. Christine is an amazing host and cooks a helluva delish breakfast! We look forward to coming back!

Christine is a lovely host. She & her family are very accommodating & welcoming. We went last week-end with another family. I am glad we did. We rented the 3 rooms they had: one for the 3 kids & the other 2 rooms for the couples. Rooms are very comfortables & clean. 6 of us rented bicycles from Christine & went to Ball's Falls cycling across the Beamsville Vineyards. It's was a 15 kms ride that got us ready for a nice picnic back at the house. Redstone winery is their neighbour. We ordered take-out food & had it in their picnic area in the middle of the vineyard. Tasting were not available yet in most wineries but we still had a great time. Christine has big properly with a grassy field where we did an amazing bond fire while sipping wine. The breakfast we had was incredible: it carried us though the day: local bacon, juice, eggs & superb pancakes.. Hopefully, will go back soon. Thanks again for the good time.

Thank you for a lovely stat Krystina. The House by the Side of the Road (HBSoR) is a small property offering large comfortable character rooms which are well maintained. There are only a few rooms available so advanced booking is essential to avoid disappointment. The breakfasts are superb. The owner asks what you would like to eat and provides this for the following morning's breakfast. The fruit flapjacks are definitely recommended. Another advantage of the HBSoR location is that it is within staggering distance of the neighbouring vineyards. Will definitely return her if visiting this area of Ontario in the future.

My husband and I recently visited for a weekend getaway. We stayed in the French Country room which we chose because of the balcony. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. We loved having the balcony. My only criticism of the room would be that the bed was a little too soft, and there were no convenient nightstands. The place was comfortable, spacious, and lots of indoor and outdoor sitting areas. We also borrowed some dishes for a little picnic, and there was lots of selection. Breakfasts were delicious with LOTS of options each morning including a muffin/pastry, fruit, yogurt, AND an egg selection, and there was always a vegetarian option for me that wasn't just "no bacon". Very happy with the service and will certainly return.
