My husband and I stayed 2 nights in the Bell Tent, right on the waterfront. It is on a large platform, about 2 feet off the ground. Inside, it had a double bed/cot and 2 singles. There are zippers that allow a vent through the tent if it is hot (it was NOT hot when we stayed 2 nights!). There is no electricity, so bring your own camp lantern, flashlights, etc. Due to Covid, we could not use the communal kitchen or bathrooms, but we had a bathroom assigned to us, complete with large shower with lots of hot water, toilet, sink/vanity, heat and full power - it was about 200 m away. We were provided with a propane bbq and picnic table right beside our large tent and our own firepit and clothesline.

We played games on the flat green space by the office (bocce ball) and there is a tennis court and basketball court for use. As well, canoes, kayaks are also available for use (with life jackets) free of charge too. We bought a $6 tub of dry, hard wood for our campfire and it was excellent! There is a wooden boardwalk that takes you from one lake to the other, where there are complimentary canoes/kayaks to use at both places. There are also chalets and a log house that are fully powered, and are appropriately away from each other. Covid precautions are taken, with sanitizing sprays available for life jackets, oars/paddles, raquets, basketball, when done using them. We did not have to be close to anyone else and the peace and quiet was amazing!

This whole place is very well maintained, with no boards broken, loose or any equipment that didn't work. The location is a 5 minute drive to Kejimkujik Park, which has hiking trails, canoeing, beaches... for more adventure.

We will be back again and again!

Four adults stayed in a large chalet. The chalet has 2 large bedrooms, one with queen bed, the other with twin beds; all were very comfortable. The bathroom was large, with walk in shower. The living area had 2 futons as couches, a dining table for 4-6 people and wood stove (didn't use the stove). The kitchen is not large, but it has what you need - 4 burner cooktop, microwave, electric kettle, coffee maker, 4 slice toaster and full sized fridge. All dishware was included, silverware and various cooking utensils; several pots and pans were also available. On the front deck, there was a propane bbq and 2 adirondack chairs, with a picnic table and fire pit off to the side of the chalet for complete privacy. The chalet was very clean and well cared for - cleaner than some hotel rooms.
The property has free, unlimited use of canoes, kayaks, tennis court and equipment, basketball court and playground. The location is about a 10 minute drive to Keji. It is a peaceful, very well maintained area, with clear gravel roads and raised wooden boardwalk through the woods.
This gem will be at least a yearly destination for us. Worth every penny!

We were 4 adults and a dog. The chalet was farthest away from the main road, so no one driving past us. It had 2 bedrooms, one with queen bed, the other had 2 twins. Beds were very comfy, all linens and blanket provided and there was shelving and hangers in each room. The main living space had 2 futon couches, dining table for 5, and heating stove (there is baseboard heating throughout). Kitchen had cooktop (no oven), full-sized fridge, microwave, coffee maker and dishes/cutlery for 8 and pots/pans also provided. Salt/pepper, sugar packets and dish soap provided. The bathroom was good sized, with accessible shower (shower gel, towels and facecloths provided). Bbq on the front deck (propane) and 2 Adirondack chairs on deck too. A picnic table was outside beside the campfire pit.

The grounds are beautiful and left to nature, aided by the wooden walkway they have (well maintained). We had unlimited use of canoes, kayaks and life jackets. There are 2 sides with water (lake and slow moving “river”) so we were able to paddle as long and far as we wanted. The open space also had a swing set, and enough open area to play any games you may have brought (bocce ball!)

Mersey is about a 10 minute drive from Kejimkujik National Park that has campsites and many hiking trails of varying distance.

Best of all, was the welcoming feel from Cheryl, Andrea and Tim!! They really love this spot and their pride shows in all the little things they do to make you feel like you belong here! They are very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and what experience you are looking for. This is a gem that we hope to return to year after year!

I booked the "Bell Tent" with three beds for the night of Monday, August 3 for myself & my 2 daughters.

We were very late checking in and unfortunately the office was closed. I didn't know where our accommodations were located and called the office number. The owner answered and was beyond friendly. She explained step by step how to get to our location. Upon arrival everything was ready for us and so clean. We were very surprised at how roomy this tent was. We got situated and had a small fire in the pit before turning in for the night. While we sat on the deck around our tent by the fire we were listening to 2 owls calling to each above us in the trees, it was incredible!

When I woke in the morning and looked out the screen door, I could see the sun rise mirrored in the lake, it was so peaceful & beautiful. We got up and started to get ready, we had a key to a washroom that was private to us only. The washrooms was spotless.

During a stroll around the property we discovered a river running along the property. Everything is well spaced and very clean. I bumped into a lady who was from housekeeping and a nice brief conversation, I also spoke with a groundskeeper was very friendly.

My oldest daughter took full advantage of the available kayaks and went for a spin around the lake.

I truly wish we had more time to enjoy this gorgeous property.

My family and I have just returned from a weekend at Mersey River Chalets. We rented both levels of the log house and 2 chalets. The complimentary canoes and kayaks were a definate bonus. Beautiful forest throughout, a boardwalk that follows the river with chairs at the perfect spots along the way.( Should have it lit up, though) There is a certain place in the river that we were able to sat in ,up to our necks in the current that we referred to as our " happy place". Very relaxing in the heat wave we are having (hottest place in Canada yesterday 💦 Keji is very close, and a store not too far away.
Downsides- Tipi village is a bone yard now, only fallen down supports (They do have a few yurts which were very cool to see).
House and loft: extremely hot, very few windows that open
Bedding was provided for beds, but folded on top for us to make ourselves
No garbage bags provided for a 3 night stay, except those in cans at check in
Sofa bed but no linens, pillows or blankets.
No housekeeping services at all, including garbage and laundry collection. Towels only by request at office daily.
The smell of the grey water is really bad. Likely not a fault of theirs but not pleasant.
The boat launch and swimming spot (on a lovely lake) are right on the front lawn of the house so others are in and out/driving around constantly. (We have 4 small children in the group which we had hoped to let free in the yard).
The Housekeeping (?) Services are carried out in the bottom floor of the house (not mentioned on website). They have the parking spots closest to the entrance reserved for housekeeping. We had 3 flight of stairs to carry our belongs to the loft and back down,so did not need to start from way across the lawn in this heat! Yesterday morning we were wakened (at 9, fair enough) by maintenance services banging bags of pop cans around in our driveway out side the few windows we could open.
The van they use for housekeeping has very loud exhaust, an annoyance for sure in the mornings.
Ceiling fans which did little to help in this heat.Bring fans!
No screen on patio door so we were unable to create airflow of any kind
The chalets were perfect
Long winded, I know but I just wanted you all to know what to expect if you rent the house.. We were disappointed but still had a great stay. Also to mention, all staff was very friendly especially the lady at the front desk

This is an amazing place. The property beautiful and relaxing, the cabins are cozy and comfortable, and the staff is friendly. It is perfectly situated for quick access to Keji National Park but you could also spend all day on site between the canoes and kayaks to use, walking paths, and the beach on the lake. We had a memorable evening canoeing upriver at sunset.

Just spent two wonderful nights at the Chalet - this was our first ever visit but definitely not our last. Everything was absolutely perfect, the chalet was just right and cozy. All the trees were covered in snow making it almost magical looking out our chalet to the River and hearing the rushing of the water. I will admit I was a bit nervous with no TV but the office is stock games and we had such fun in the evenings playing cards and yatzee. Kejimkujik National Park is very close by and would definitely recommend a visit - the trails are wonderful, even in the off season.

This was by far my favorite trip with my girls. We stayed in the bell tents for two nights and two nights in the rooms. It came with everything. Stress free get away. It was very clean, staff was super friendly and helpful. The girls were never bored, because they offer so much. By far my best experience 👌🏼 Thank you for sharing this gem and for giving us this amazing experience.

We stayed at the Mersey River Chalets last summer. I must say I have never stayed in such a shabby cottage before. To make it worse it smelled horrible. I guess that people with dogs have been there before us and they haven´t clean up properly afterwards. The floor looked so awful no one would believe this, it should have been renovated years ago, like the whole cottage. I only give 2 points because the restaurant is nice.

As a lover of the woods and nature , I expected to be pleased with the Mersey River Chalets . Set well off of the highway a few kilometres from the Kejimkujik Nat'l Park , the resort offers visitors the perfect place to unwind . The area is covered with coniferous and hardwood trees and features a lake and a river ( the Mersey River ) . A boardwalk runs along the river , which has small ' rapids ' close to the restaurant , the aptly named ' Cascades ' . Accommodations are your choice of cottages or teepees . The teepees are quite large and contain beds . The cabins are spacious and clean and have very comfortable beds . An especially lovely gesture is that this resort was laid out to allow handicapped persons complete access to everything . The establishment does not cater to numerous people at once ... it is small enough that a visit there makes you feel almost like you are part of a family and not just a money spending guest . The restaurant has a delicious menu for dinner ( which changes day to day ) and you may dine indoors or outside on the deck , which overlooks the river . There are canoes and kayaks available free of charge . My only complaint was the lack of a beach area on the lake ... swimmers generally go out to a floating raft and swim here way out in the middle of the lake . For this reason , we found ourselves going to Kejimkujik Park for an afternoon of swimming at one of the lakes there ( which features a beach ) . Also , the rushing Mersey River at the Mills Falls section of the park is beautiful ... much more of an impression left by these ' rapids ' than the ones at the Mersey River Chalets . However , if you are looking for relaxation with few people around ( and no TV , phones , etc . ) a weekend at the Mersey River Chalets would be for you .
( Lots of wildlife too : frogs , turtles , dragonflies , racoons , beavers , deer , and ( unfortunately ) river spiders . )

They had one some time ago. It was by the lower part of the river. It was damaged a few times, quite severely. Has not been there for some time, unless they replaced since we were there the end of August, 2015.
