One night stay in a single room which had two fairly narrow beds (room 7). Room was OK although a bit tired. Water stains on stool and could not open door fully due to 2nd bed. Blind didn't reach to bottom of window so room bright in the morning, also struggle to open blind as chord hidden when lowered. Nice...

Stayed here on a Saturday night. The building is obviously very old, walls and floor wonky and creaking but plenty of charm. Room and bathroom ok size and clean. Perfectly serviceable as a B&B. Breakfast was lovely, ordered the salmon and scrambled eggs and got an excellent portion. Very nice, would stay again.

We recently dined here for a family get together. The customer service from the staff from start to finish was professional and they were all happy and attentive, evidently enjoying what they do. We opted for the 3 course early bird menu £17.95, and the choices were very good and the food excellent. We shall be visiting again to celebrate...

We booked rooms for Friday (4 rooms) and Saturday (7 rooms) nights as we had a family wedding nearby. On Friday night, Chapters had a wedding party in, so their restaurant was closed - they did go out of their way, though to provide appropriate food for small children in the rooms and did tell us in advance. Rooms were...

A very expensive 1 night stay in an old tired room and charged an additional £15 just to have a put me up bed for our daughter. No other hotel has ever charged us for that. The staff seemed very uninterested and there was rarely anyone on reception. No lift to rooms, rooms in dire need of modernisation, and all...

I travel to the North from London quite regularly and always stay at Chapters. We love this hotel/restaurant. The rooms are charming, Room 1 is a favourite! The restaurant serves delicious, locally sourced food which is beautifully presented and the staff are always extremely helpful and welcoming. I left Stokesley 20 years ago and Chapters had always been a favourite venue for us then - particularly for a date night. Passing through yesterday on the way to Staithes we decided to have lunch here for old times sake and what a treat! The restaurant has changed beyond recognition - light, airy and modern without being clinical. The...

Stayed in room 3 for two nights in August when I traveled to Stokesly for a wedding. First impressions are generally pretty good, a lovely old building with a bar, restaurant and rooms. However, the rooms themselves are very tired and basic with cheap pine furniture. The bathrooms are also basic - reminded me of the bathrooms at my school....

Hello James T's We always try to take people reviews positively and appreciate the feedback from our guests. We stayed here on the gourmet package which meant that we had dinner, bed and breakfast, but also petit fours and chilled prosecco on arrival. The room was comfortable and a good size, the toiletries in the bathroom were Molton Brown. The shower wasn't very powerful and the tub was dangerously slippy, the only reason for the four stars rather...
