The feedback form for these cottages asks the purpose of your visit - one of the options is "Wedding Party". We were unlucky enough to be staying here when a wedding party were having three days in the other cottages. They arrived back at 2am on Sunday morning and proceeded to talk and drink (and occasionally sing) in the courtyard...

We stayed here as two couples. The cottage had everything we needed and benefitted from the nearby cafe. There were some lovely walks nearby and, of course, Lanercost Priory. It's a good base for walking or exploring the area by car. My only quibble was that the sofa wasn't big enough for the four of us to sit down to...

We stayed at De Brotherton for three nights over Easter with my parents and our young children. The area is beautiful and well worth a visit, and I can only say positive things about the cottage. It was clean, spacious, and beautifully renovated. The beds were comfortable and a high chair and cot were available for our use during the...

The standard is excellent. The house keeper was very welcoming and helpful. The info book provided in the house was the best ever - everything is covered. The quailty of the furnishings were 5 star. The beds just too comfy. Space was a plenty and we visited with 6 adults and kids. Can not find words to describe how lovely...

Lovely walks, holiday cottages very comfy & luxury. There is also a cafe, church and shop. There is a lovely feel to the whole place. Lots on the menu - fresh & local food. I enjoyed many walks around the place. Hadrians Wall is very near - musuem too (admissions apply). Excellent! Thank You Lanercost!

Actually we visited just after the 2015 floods in Carlisle and Cockermouth. No problems at all in Lanercost. Wonderful self catering accommodation. Plenty of space and all the facilities you could want. We would have been happy to buy and live there. Lanercost is a couple of miles outside Brampton, where you can get all your basic needs. Visit Colin...

Our party of 4 couples arrived Sunday afternoon for a four night stay, our property called Howard House was warm and cosy on arrival and we started to unload four car loads of food and drink, as each couple was responsible for wining and dining on one of the four nights, first issue, the fridge is nowhere near big enough...

We stayed last week with friends in De Brotherton. The cottage is very large and spotlessly clean. The beds are comfortable as are the reclining sofas in the sitting room. However I do think there is room for improvement. The lighting throughout is very poor. In the kitchen we found ourselves cooking and eating our evening meal in gloom ....

Thank you very much for the helpful comments about the lighting in De Brotherton. I am sorry I have taken such a time to respond, but I have needed to take some expert advice from our electricians and lighting experts. Due to the fact that the buildings are listed and overlook a Scheduled Ancient Monument, the planners and English Heritage...

We had originally booked 5 days in de Moulton cottage, but after a problem with the boiler, we were upgraded to de Brotherton. This is a 3 bedroomed , luxury apartment, and everything about it was superb. The only downside with these cottages is that there is no private outside seating area., but everything else is ideal for a lovely...
