The hostel is situated right near the entrance of the Chirripo National Park which is perfect if you want to do the hike. It's also close to Cloudbridge Reserve. The hostel is very cosy with a well equipped kitchen and communal area. The dorm is in a little cave with comfy beds and enough space for luggage. The hostel sells...

Unique rooms nestled into the forest/slopes next to the river. Entire facility is beautiful and clean. The dorm room is incredibly cool and unique. Nice kitchenette for cooking. This is the PERFECT place for sleeping the night before climbing Chirripo. It is the CLOSEST HOSTEL/HOTEL to the Chirripo trailhead (only 50m away). Their website was very helpful with Chirripo details,...

We used this place as a base for our trip to Chirripó and came with a very good impression. We stayed at the cabin at the top of the hostel. The rustic style and the open windows give a sensation of closeness to nature. The warmness of the owners and hostess also helped. There is a shared kitchen that can...

We stayed for 3 nights while walking and birding in the Cloudbridge Reserve. Great place to stay when coming or going on the strenuous hike to Chirripo or just visiting the lovely San Gerardo area. Not easy to get to, but well worth the effort. Beautiful, uniquely-built buildings with a dorm and nice private rooms with shared bathroom and kitchen....

We stayed one night before our hike to Chirripó the next morning. We were welcomed with a relaxed atmosphere, great employees (shout out Robbie and Kimberly), and a unique place to stay. The whole hostel is a "community house" which is very different from other hostels I've stayed in. Casa Mariposa has hats/gloves/jackets/walking sticks for people to use for their...

I don't even know where to start off with all the good things happening there! First of all: the casa mariposa is a real beauty, they built the hostel into nature and it's just stunning. Then there's the staff: helping, friendly and there for every concern you may have. They even have a little store where you can buy eggs,...

This picturesque hostel perfectly defines what the word coziness means. People come here usually the night before they start their hike of the Cerro Chirripo but they end up staying at lease one additional night afterwards because the hostel has such a nice atmosphere. The owners and the manager are very friendly and helpful and you can really ask them...

I've traveled extensively in Costa Rica and even lived there for 10 mo's. I've had great experiences everywhere but must say, Casa Mariposa has been and still is one of my favorite hostels ever. The energy is great there. I've always met wonderful people and there is a sense of peace there. And fun , everyone is always happy to...

I had a great time at Casa Mariposa. If I ever come back to Costa Rica this would be the place I would stay. The hostel has an amazing view of a jungle gorge in the backyard. John and Jill are super friendly and will help you organize your hike up to Mt. Chirripo or other activities around town. Also...
