We spend 3 weeks in casa mariposa as helpers. It was an amazing time! Great atmosphere, people who want to climb chrippo will feel secured by the owners who explain everything well and put some clothes at disposition. The house is more than clean and the kitchen is well furnished and lovely. We miss this place a lot!!

I stayed here before and after my ascent of Chirripo. Truly wonderful and hospitable people and a unique and tranquil setting. I highly recommend them! They even helped me sit down and look at a map after my hike when I was planning the next leg of my journey (I went to Uvita, and it was wonderful). I have traveled...

We stayed at the Casa Mariposa before and after our Mt. Chirripo climb. The facilities were super clean and staff extremely friendly and helpful. The individual rooms are located in a unique setting amongst granite boulders and lush vegetation. They let us store our extra gear at their place while off on Chirripo which was great. We added several species...

Can't say enough good things about staying at Casa Mariposa. A stay here may change your outlook on life. The owners and staff are among the most welcoming and friendly people I've ever met. Upon check-in guests are provided a quick tour and orientation that makes you feel like part of the family. Many people staying have the goal of...

I can totally recommend this place. Such a beaytiful place to stay. I felt welcomed from arrival to the end. Everybody there was so nice and helpful. In the evening we had a nice talk, were singing together or just relaxed in this cozy kitchen. It's quiet a way to walk from the busstop, but it's worth it. And it's...

My wife and I came upon this place after finishing a summit of Chirripo. We were both exhausted and literally caked in mud from head to toe. The good people at CM supplied a hose for cleanup and a room for the night. The following morning, I literally never wanted to leave the place. I'm normally a pretty antsy individual...

Can't understand the positive reviews at all! We booked a double-room with shared bathroom and got the one next to the entrance. To be realistic, it's more a prisoncell than a room, extremely small. The blankets were smelly, when the lights went out there were roaches everywhere. Even worse, from the wooden roof some kind of insect-dirt (undefined) was falling...

I spent several days at Casa Mariposa with Jill and John. I couldn't think of a better place to stay at while in Costa Rica. Their place is amazing! They are very kind and warm people who truly care about the visitors who stay with them. The atmosphere is amazing, and the surrounding area is second to none. I am...

I put together a quick trip to climb Cerro Chirripo with my son, when his school and my work schedules aligned to allow us to head to Costa Rica. John and Jill keep updated information on Park Passes and with the help of Jane Tyrell, who ordered the park passes and arranged for transportation from San Jose (888 434 0776...

Don't look for a place better than Casa Mariposa! Even if it's hard to get there, you will forget it once on top. The owners and their staff are so nice and helpful. It's the perfect place for relaxing before a hike to Chirripo or Cloud Bridge. The hostel is cosy and clean. I totally fell in love with this...
