#2 of 3 B&Bs / Inns in Rosseau
Take a pause in time as you enjoy the quiet solitude & spectacular natural surroundings of the Muskoka Lakes. Relax in the privacy and comfort of this inn style retreat located in the historic village of Rosseau. Rooms have the historic charm of yesteryear coupled with all the modern luxuries you could wish for. The B & B, constructed in the late 1800s stands as a proud reminder of the elegance of the Victorian era. Originally deeded to the Ditchburn family, the house was later occupied by the village doctor, who built on the spacious addition for his busy practice. Belinda and Joe purchased the home in 2006 and restored it to its historic beauty adding all the comforts of home. Only a two minute walk from Lake Rosseau and the newly developed waterfront beach, park, and piers, the Rosseau Retreat is ideal for weary travellers seeking escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Designed in the style of a turn of the century mercantile store, the open concept kitchen and dining room offer an opportunity for socialization over an elegant breakfast. For those seeking more privacy, arrangements can be made for breakfast baskets to be delivered to their rooms. Rooms may be rented individually, or arrangements can be made for exclusive use of the house. The Retreat is open year round for four season enjoyment. Spacious clean room, tastefully decorated to complement the heritage home. Karen was a great hostess and prepared generous and tasty breakfasts on the 2 mornings that we were there. Would love to return or recommend this B&B to our friends.

I had my cousin and his family visiting me from Poland earlier this summer and decided to take them to Muskoka for three days as part of their 'Canadian experience'. I booked the Rosseau Retreat (entire home) for 3 nights and have to say that it was the highlight of our entire trip. From the gorgeous accommodation, amazing breakfasts and outstanding service, our experience was 5 star! Karen and Roy are gracious hosts, going above and beyond to make sure we felt right at home. I even brought a lasagna for dinner on our last evening together and Roy put it in the oven for us so dinner was ready when we returned from our days excursion. In addition he prepared a salad and made garlic bread! Thank you so much for making our visit so memorable. I can't wait to return.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Rosseau Retreat while in town for a family reunion. Our extended family had booked out all 4 rooms. Karen and Roy were wonderful hosts and welcomed us into their beautiful home. We stayed in the Ditchburn room, which has a lovely bathroom with a clawfoot tub and a separate shower with a "rainshower" head. The room also has access to the 2nd floor deck, which is a lovely place to sit and relax. The entire property was lovely, with beautiful gardens, a nice back patio with comfy furniture and a really nice fire pit. Karen also made space for us in the mud-room fridge, which is right by the patio & firepit, so that we could keep drinks that we had brought with us nice and cold. Breakfast each morning was fantastic! The food was fresh, delicious and plentiful. The location of the B&B is great...within walking distance of a nice restaurant, the general store, antique shops, gelato shop & liquor store. The public beach & marina area (which is where the farmer's market is held on Fridays in the summer) is about a 15 minute walk. We had a wonderful weekend, and look forward to coming back to Rosseau Retreat again!

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. This place feels like home. As guests we were welcomed and escorted to our room, Karen made us like one of the family immediately. The rooms are all beautifully decorated and looked after to every minor detail. Breakfast was very abundant, homemade and delicious. This is 5 star all the way

Can’t say enough good things about this B and B. Karen ad Roy were perfect hosts. All rooms are beautiful and we would have been happy to have any of them, but since we were the only guests on the weekend that we visited we had the attic room, which was really lovely. House is spotless, toiletry products supplied were local and lovely. Breakfast both mornings was excellent, tasty, well presented and on time, and large enough that we did not require lunch! Karen and Roy made lively conversation with us both mornings, which we really enjoyed. This weekend was my birthday, and Karen helped my wife plan out local attractions and dining beforehand, and once we arrived. My wife came down with a very bad cold shortly after we arrived, and or hosts were very kind to her. We have already planned to come back.
