Carol, owner of the self-catering Deep Thatch Cottages, welcomed us early in the day after our unexpectedly short trek into Rodmell off the South Downs Way. She showed us and our muddy boots! into a spacious kitchen/dining/living area and then to our bedroom which had a nice newly tiled bathroom and an enticing view from the windows onto Rodmell's main...

Walked here on the SDW. Beautiful situation in the village. We just really enjoyed the freedom to relax make our own breakfast and chill. The unit had kitchen, lounge bedroom and en suite. Well stocked , clean and comfy. Would stay again if in the area.

All the other reviewers are right; this place is outstanding so I won't go on about it. We left the lovely Studio (above garage) clean and tidy but it seems that some visitors think it acceptable to leave the washing up from their breakfast. The owners are resigned to people sometimes doing this and accept it as something that the...

This was my fifth and final night on my South Downs Way walk. I had only decided at the last minute to stay in Rodmell and was fortunate to find this lovely accommodation in a private annexe to the house. The facilities were clean, comfortable and of high quality. I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to get my own breakfast from...

Cycling the South Downs Way, Deep Thatch Cottage is a very comfortable spot to stay. There were 5 adults and we occupied the whole annexe which worked well. Really pretty village and a short walk to the pub for supper. A really good continental breakfast and we were on our way again to Eastbourne.

No point going on too much, just excellent location, excellent accommodation and very friendly hosts as well as a great pub a short walk away and excellent position on South Downs way. Only reservations is that if you are over 6 feet tall the head room may feel a bit limited for you in the accommodation over the garage as...

My cousin and I stayed in the Old Stable section of the b&b. We enjoyed having a bedroom (twin beds) and a living room/kitchen. After being served breakfasts at our other b&b's, we enjoyed the change of pace of having breakfast at our own time and pace. Carol provided the fresh food the day before. Little touches like fresh flowers...

Our 5 day stay in Rodmell was wonderful. Carol and Jerry are warm and terrific hosts and have done a great job of creating a wonderful get away. They are warm and welcoming, are there as needed, but also leave you to do your own thing. They were so helpful with ideas and suggestions and steered us right every time....

We stayed 1 night in the Annexe whilst walking a chunk of the SDW. The location is fab for walkers - half a mile off the SDW and a 2 minute walk from the local pub. The Annexe is a great space for a couple with its own shower room and kitchen area where you can prepare and eat your...

We stayed here for one night part of a birthday celebration, and absolutely loved it. It is impeccably clean, and fantastic value given the space and freedom you get. The rooms were peaceful, private, brilliantly appointed, and only a short stroll from Monk's House, which was our reason for visiting the area. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming, without...

“If you are travelling alone then the annexe is perfectly adequate, A bit small for a couple I would think.”
