....I would avoid Room 7. That's the room we had. Tiny, directly above the kitchen (smells) and the hotel's intermittently noisy boiler in a cupboard in the corner. Other rooms are apparently bigger and all fine. The owner is very friendly and helpful and everything clean and tidy. Surprisingly quiet upstairs given a wedding party and an England match in...

From the minute you enter the hotel you feel like family, the rooms are great value and the food is homely, and really decent prices. Close to shops and travel to local areas (Newcastle,Whitley Bay). Will definitely return

Very friendly staff, great food, lovely room. Nothing too much trouble. Queried the toilets in bar and owner said that was next on the list for refurbishment. Will stay again when next visiting family.

Straightforward room above the local pub. reasonably priced and friendly staff. Room was fine for size, bathroom quite big. Basic buffet breakfast was included - cereal, croissants, toast etc. On the downside we could hear the music from the pub playing very loudly until about 11.30. Room was freezing as the heating didnt come on during the evening or morning....

Had a night out planned in town, so we looked for a hotel for a decent price for 1 night. Can't complain for £49. Not too far from the city centre and in a quiet area too. Stan and his team were wonderful and did all they could to help. The room was decorated beautifully and was pristine. We came...

We (family of 5) were visiting the area as my husband had a strongman competition so we decided to stay over the night before. Initially the pub looks OK until you drive into the car park where there is a lot of broken garden furniture/left out bbq. It's a shame as it could be lovely. The barman who showed us...

We spent a long weekend here and enjoyed it very much. We thought it might be noisy in the evening as it is above a pub but we slept like logs. The breakfast was delicious and after having a good chat with the manager on the morning we left he gave us all our breakfasts free. The staff could not...
