The cottage was nice and clean. But the male owner is very rude to us, we are not happy and won’t go there again. We have been more than 20 cottages in Ontario , this is the first time we felt being offended. I hope he can change his attitude and be nice to their guests.

I'm sorry you felt offended, but when you lie about how many people are in your cottage during a pandemic, you're going to get "attitude". Our policies are clear and you violated them on purpose. Banging on our private residence after hours claiming an "emergency" when all you wanted was a barbecue that you had previously stated you did not want, was extremely rude. So, it's possible that your behaviour was returned in kind. We provided for you exactly what we said we would and your group seemed to have a great time as I spoke to many of them personally and the kids certainly had a blast in the pool. Thanks for leaving the cottage in good condition. We appreciate that.

The room was sparkling clean when we checked in, and the staff in the store was more than helpful accomodating our requests. Lots of fishes in the lake, we were all first-timers and still caught little ones. Amazing sunset.

alpine resort was a very nice quiet resort. cottages are roomy inside and well spaced outside with individual fire pits for each. the resort has a swimming pool which is very refreshing. they have a small beach, good for kids 2 feet deep. they have plenty of dockage and their own boat launch. they also have a games room but due to covid we could not access it.. their store and office area was very clean and well stocked. Free wifi that had good range, depending on your provider. they had various play structures for kids, swings, teeter tooder, a play house with slides, basketball courts volleyball court...fishing was excellent. we caught atleast 30 bass over 2 lbs, and a few above 4 lbs. cottages have a tv with 4 channels for rainy weather.. all in all a very relaxing time. my only complaint would be that the store closes at 5pm and we want ice cream after 5pm... lol..

We went to this cottage resort in July. They have quite a few cottages. The cottages are clean and well maintained. They are a good size . They have a sand volleyball area and basketball court which my son enjoyed. The pool was a nice bonus . We spent a lot of time there because of the hot humid days. The cottages are on the lake which makes fishing easy but we only caught 2 fish. Lol. Unfortunately I found the beds in our cottage way to hard so my sleeping was a mess but I still enjoyed my stay. I would definitely recommend this resort for a nice summer getaway. So much so that our family booked 9 cottages for next year!

Hi Tracey. We're happy to hear you enjoyed yourselves. Thanks for your kind review! If you let me know which bed you were in I can check the mattress to see if we need to replace it. If they look good we think they're fine as we don't sleep on them :D Thanks!

I found this place as a last minute family vacation last year and we all agreed to book for this year before we left and my friend and her family decided to join. I couldn't be happier with the decision! The staff could not be more warm and helpful, the grounds are beautifully maintained and the ambiance is simple bliss. The resort has a canoe and two kayaks that can be borrowed FREE OF CHARGE for guests and other larger motor vessels that can be rented for fishing expeditions AND they have life jackets for sized infant to adult so no need to purchase and transport those along with your other gear. One of the best parts of Alpine Resort is the feeling of going back to a time when families connected over a campfire and marshmallows, and there is a LOT of privacy provided by the amount of space between the cottages. Each cottage has a full kitchen and a hysterically kitchy collection of dishes, cookware and art work, and there are full groceries available within an easy half hour drive. You'll need to bring your own towels to use in the lake or the pool, and while there isn't a sandy beach there is a big one a short drive away in Cobourg. Get ready for family fun activities during the week, and also get ready to eat some of the best ice cream Ontario has to offer. Friends and family rebooked for next year already!!

Thank you Grace for your wonderful review. You summed us up perfectly! Kitchy is a great way to describe the cottages. We gave up on trying to match things years ago. It does provide an interesting ambience ;) We really appreciate your patronage and look forward to seeing you again. THANKS!

I'm fortunate enough to have grown up vacationing at Rice Lake every summer since 1981. I didn't grow up in the era of The Andy Griffith Show, but after seeing countless reruns, I feel like Roseneath Ontario (specifically Alpine Resort) is like Mayberry! It's a hidden gem that has to be experienced first hand! The ownership at Alpine are like family. Always there to greet you with a smile, a handshake, a hug, or a story of previous years shenanigans! Not only did I grow up with their children (all of which are adults now as well), but I made lifelong friendships with countless other cottage-goers along the way. The beauty of their resort/location, is the fact you're far enough away from everything, yet close enough to do anything your heart desires. Within a 45 minute drive - you can try your luck at the casino (Kawartha Downs) in Peterborough, enjoy a day at the beach in Cobourg, hit the links in Warkworth, visit World's Finest Chocolate outlet in Campbellford, grab a beer/dinner and sing some karaoke at McGillicafey's in Hastings, or buy delicious sweets at The Big Apple in Colborne. Again, ALL within 45 minutes - though most are under a half hour drive. To make a long story short, Apline Resort is family-oriented! We live in a day and age where technology and the internet have occupied most or ours lives, yet Alpine gives us time to get some of that "family time" back. If you're looking for a place to enjoy the company of loved ones without needing a computer or cell phone, Alpine Resort is a perfect place to slow down time and get back to the important things in life. Family! Jason Hostler Akron, Ohio USA

My husband booked a 7-8 person cottage for the August long weekend from Glamping Hub website and the shot in the dark turned truly worthwhile. Here is my experience: Pros: - Great resort location on Rice Lake with awesome sunset viewing point. - Nice, clean cottage with basic kitchen utilities. - On-site swimming pool as there is no sandy beach on the resort for swimming. - On-site swings, volleyball, and basketball play area. - Basic grocery store - mainly for fishing supplies. - Boat rentals can be made. The owner Fred gave a great overview of boating basics and also provided assistance in times of need. - Helpful owners Things that can be improved: - Owners can work on their customer service. Although they were helpful we found them stoned faced. - The price of a 1 page Rice lake map was $6 which was totally not worth it. - The grocery store didn't carry many camp related items especially for BBQ so don't rely on the store. We had forgotten to pack BBQ oil brush and had a tough time BBQing. Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend the resort.

We have been vacationing at this resort for 20 years. We go for the blue gill in June and are never disappointed. We always get what we call the "slabbers" and plenty of them. Anita, Fred, Jodie, & Mike (owners) are always friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The cabins are what I consider "outdoorsy" in that they are fishing cabins. Nothing special, but clean and each has it's own character to it of some sort. They have pretty much everything that is needed for a stay and if it's not in the cabin... you can ask if they have it or visit a special little spot in the laundry area and "shop" for what you need... or as I like to do... just snoop to see what they have. We always rent a pontoon boat for we fish with 4 people and find this the most comfortable for being out all day and find the cost worth every penny. A fish cleaning shack is available with electricity, running water etc. and is set-up well for cleaning your catch. They even provide freezer space if you need more room then what is in your cabin for your fish. Try them out... you won't be disappointed.

I randomly booked this resort just out of a simple purpose of spending sometime with my family by the water. Nevertheless, it turned out to be a memorable time that we will cherish for a long time for sure: Literally all of the cottages face the water. The owner Fred kindly advised us to kayak before it gets busy and do the sport according to the weather forecast. The little convenience store has merchandise that are reasonably priced and very useful for the visitors. The camp ground is well kept and spacious. Our only wish is that the cost for using the grill is included in the rent itself, which a lot of resorts do. Last but not the least, when we left earlier than planned, Fred asked if we have any concerns, and we expressed our appreciation for the customer friendly service that he and his staff have provided to make our visit most enjoyable, and we left early simply due to unexpected scheduling issues.

Thanks for taking the time to review our resort. We choose not to include the cost of a barbecue in our cottage rentals as many people don't need it since all of our cottages have full sized stoves and outdoor fire pits. We don't believe it's fair to ask everyone to pay for a service only required by a few. Included are many amenities other resorts don't supply like bed linens, kid's activities (high season) canoes, kayaks and the use of sports equipment. We're glad to hear you enjoyed yourselves and hope to see you again sometime.
