My family and I have been coming to Bearskin Lodge for 26 years. It's in a beautiful location nestled on a lake in the La Cloche mountains near Killarney provincial park, an area where many Group of Seven works were painted.
The cabins are rustic but clean, and include a toilet, shower, kitchen with stove/oven, toaster, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, and coffee maker, as well as a screened in porch (at least on most of them). There's also a barbecue outside each cabin, as well as a communal fire pit. Each cabin is assigned a dock. There's good fishing in the lake.
Right behind the lodge are some hiking trails with beautiful scenic lookouts, and there are a number of excellent nearby hiking trails as well, such as Heaven's Gate. Shopping is nearby in Espanola. It's a short drive down to Manitoulin Island.
This May was our first visit under the new owners Duane and Marian, and we were very pleased with what we saw. We got their right at the start of the season, and they had already done a lot of much needed maintenance on the cabins. Our cabin was cleaner than it had ever been before, and various repairs/upgrades had been made. Duane and Marian are very nice and hospitable, and were hard at work making upgrades and repairs the whole time we were there. We were very lucky and got treated to a rare spectacular Northern Lights show our last night there. We can't wait to go again.

We visited Bear Skin Lodge on recommendation from an Aunt, who has been going for years. Upon arrival we were greeted and shuttled on a short ride across the lake on a pontoon boat, to our clean & well equipped, rustic cabin (The Fisherman). The cabin kitchen had everything you need for a comfortable stay, a 3 piece bath with hot running water, and comfortable beds. You bring your own bedding, towels, toiletries and paper products. Our cabin had a large screened in porch, which was perfect for morning coffee, & evening cocktails.
There is a communal fire pit at the waters edge, that is lit each evening around sunset.
Plenty of wildlife in the area, we saw beaver, muskrat, bald eagle , loons and we heard owls in the evening a couple of nights, what a wonderful sound!
We rented one of their pontoon boats and enjoyed a day exploring the lake and fishing, such a beautiful area of Ontario!
There is plenty to do in the area, we visited Bridal Veil Falls, White Fish Falls, Chutes Provincial Psrk & a look out near Gore Bay and also went on a Sunset boat cruise in Little Current. There is plenty more to explore in the area as well.
Little Current & Espanola are both close by and have shopping, restaurants and entertainment.
Duane & Marion are the new owners as of this May. They are very friendly, helpful and accommodating. They have already made some improvements to the camp and have many more planned. We can’t wait to return to see what they have done!

Fantastic Stay at Bearskin Lodge and Outfitters
My family and I had an unforgettable experience at Bearskin Lodge and Outfitters. The place was spotlessly clean and had a charming rustic atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The beds were comfortable, and the property was meticulously maintained. We especially enjoyed the variety of paddle boards and kayaks available, which added so much fun to our time on the water.
The hiking trail attached to the property was a fantastic bonus, offering us the opportunity to explore the beautiful surroundings and take in the breathtaking views from the top.
We also rented a boat and had a great fishing adventure. The hosts, Duane and Marian, were simply wonderful. Their extensive knowledge of the area was impressive, and every recommendation they gave us for places to visit was perfect. we couldn’t have asked for better guides.
We’ve already rebooked for next year and are eagerly counting down the days until our next visit to Bearskin Lodge. If you’re searching for a peaceful, nature filled escape with outstanding hospitality, this is the place to go!

This was my first visit to Bearskin Lodge and it certainly will not be my last. My husband and I traveled with friends to this hidden beauty in the middle of Sept. The scenery was breath taking. I am not much of a fisherwoman but managed to go out a few times and really enjoy myself. We even went for a hike which proved to be a lot of fun.
The cabins we clean and spacious as well as the boats. The bonfire at night that was started by Konrad was wonderful. It brought all the campers together to socialize and have a good time. Not that this was needed it because everyone was so friendly, it was like we were all instant friends on the first day.
The first part of the week was warm and sunny for hiking and fishing. The last few days of our trip was raining but we made the best of it and fished with raincoats and played games and cards in the cabins.
The price it what sold us in the first place BUT the place is what sold us forever!!
Remember to bring flashlight, warm clothes, rain gear and extra shoes.
Looking forward to returning next year and have already recommended it to other friends looking for a great getaway!!
See you next year Laura and Konrad!!!

I stayed here during a week-long fishing trip. It was exactly as advertised: a charming vacation camp with lots of natural beauty.
There are a number of cabins on the property. We stayed in the Bears Den - which is right on the water with a screened-in porch and its own private deck. It was a great choice and I'd recommend it to others. The place is furnished with all the essentials: complete kitchen, 3-piece bath, electric heat. There was also a brand new propane BBQ available for our use.
In terms of activities and things to do... we spent most of our time fishing. Our rental included the use of a boat. All of the boats at Bearskin Lodge are well-maintained. They were recently painted and equipped with new 4-stroke outboard motors. If the weather was a little warmer, I may have gone swimming. The owner, Konrad, just put in a new swim raft with cedar decking. This will be a great place to relax in the sun. Other suggestions include: canoeing, photography, hiking, and a visit to the Provincial Park. During specific times of the year there is also moose and bear hunting. For those who need internet access there is free WiFi access. I used it and it worked well (highspeed connection).
If you are looking to get away and enjoy nature, this is the place for you. I'd specifically recommend this to families that want the camp experience but prefer having the comfort of modern ammenities.

My wife and I have been going to Bearskin Lodge for about 8 years now and just love the place. The cottages are rustic but with convenient ammenities. The owner Konrad and his wife Laura are more than accommodating to make your holiday just that much better. The scenery is something else you are right in the middle of the La Cloutche mountains something that is kind of rare in Ontario. While taking a boat out fishingnI captured some fantastic pictures of nature at it's best. We will definatly be returning next year if health will accommodate us. Take the time to visit he website or better book a cabin yo won't be dissapointed.

My friend and I went to paint the fall colours. Spoke to Konrad, the owner, who recommended we come on the last week of September.
The Lodge is nestled between Lake Frood and Lake Charleton. The area is absolutely an absolutely breathtaking site in the Lacloche Mountains, at the western edge of Killarney Park. This was nature at its best; the fall colours were at their peak.
We stayed at the Fisherman's cabin for the last week in September - at water's edge. It had a heated central area that included a fully equiped kitchen (Stove, Fridge, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker and full size propane BBQ outside), dining table and couple of comfortable chairs. It has two bedrooms, a small bathroom with shower, and a screened porch (weather was too cold to use but would be nice in the summer). My room proved to be very cold the first night and Konrad provided a portable electric heater which resolved the issue.
The weekly rate for the room was lower than in the summer and included a boat and motor. The high speed WiFi proved valuable as my Rogers cell phone was out of range; my portable computer allowed communications by internet and for us to search maps of the area etc. The Queen size beds were comfortable. Must bring towels, sheets, food and bathroom basics; everything else was provided. For this time of the year, I recommend you bring rain gear and also warm clothes as the nights can get very cold. Although the cabins are well lit, the flashlight came in handy outside.
Although the cabins are not deluxe, they are ample, clean and in good condition, as was the boat and motor. The owners Konrad and Laura were good hosts and provided tips about the area and helped to make our stay a very pleasant experience. For example, they prepared a bonfire in the fire pit area at our request; other guests joined us for a most beautiful starry fall night by the fire.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and were 100% satisfied and I will recommend to our friends.

Service was great, did not have anything to worry about our entire stay, children had a great and enjoyable time, beautiful clean environment, great place to swim, go fishing and hiking up in the la cloche mountains. close to grace lake of killarney provincial park. All appliances and accommodations available at each cabin. Only things needed to bring were fishing rods, towels, bed sheets, and food. Food can be bought near by in the town of Espanola only 15 minutes away. Liquor store and beer store also located at your convenience. Stayed at the Eagle and the Fisherman cabins very close to the fire pit clean and spacious, comfortable places to stay. warm water for swimming, near by islands to explore, cliff jumping for the more experienced extremers. overall amazing place for a vacation getaway in Ontario!!

We honestly cannot express how amazing Konrad (the owner) and his cottages are. They are true cottages NOT city living type cottages. From the first step out of our car we were greeted by Konrad and explained everything in detail about our cottage. We stayed in the Bayview cottage which one of many beautiful cottages he has to rent. We had something to do every minute while we were hear from fishing, fires, swimming, paddle boating, kayaking and so much more. This cottage is honestly up the road from the amazing views at Cup and Saucer, and then only a few minutes away from there was Bridal Veil Falls just a little past Little Current where we stopped to enjoy a delicious ice cream cone at Fraquares Ice Cream Shop. We honestly will be returning hopefully in the fall of this year (that's how much we loved our stay). Thank you so much Konrad and everyone who has a hand in creating such an amazing cottage experience in Northern Ontario. We definitely will be back.
