I'm not sure what to call Saracens at Hadnall ..... is it a restaurant with a few rooms to stay in if your unlucky ..... or is it a failed B&B that is using the 'foodie' to deflect the criticism?  This was a base for 3 days / 2 nights for  a family of 3 that took a four poster...

Really friendly staff, nice clean room, tea, coffee, toiletries, crisp linen sheets. Small television with freeview but who wants to watch television when there is so much to see and do in this part of Shropshire, Saracens is on the A49 so some may find the traffic noise a bit intrusive, we live in a very quiet village and can...

If you are expecting good food - you will be not be disappointed. If you are expecting comfortable clean accommodation and good customer service, prepare to be very disappointed. We had a two night stay sunday 29 th and monday 30 th June 2014, with taster menu is Groupon, our room was not clean, the bed sheet was too small...

Four of us stayed last weekend on a Groupon Deal which included a 7 course taster menu which was outstanding, could hardly move afterwards. The breakfasts were just as good, nice choice and cooked just right. We seemed to be the only ones staying there, the rooms were small but comfortable. The only negative was they only sold bottled beer....

The accommodation was pretty basic but perfectly comfortable and clean. All facilities provided as you would expect - en suite bathroom, TV, tea-making facilities, hair-dryer etc... The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was fantastic and the owners themselves state that it is a 4* restaurant with guest rooms not a 4* hotel - I...

My parents visited this hotel for 2 nights. On the first night TV wasn't working. They informed someone who said they would sort it. It still wasn't fixed by the time the checked out after 2 nights!!! There was a bedside radio with the plug in half, fuse missing and live wires. Luckily my father noticed before plugging in or...

Upon arrival at the Saracen we were shown up to the 4 poster bedroom we had booked. 1st problem was the main lights not working. It seems this was an ongoing problem as the chap said he had asked several times for them to be fixed. We had to rely on a couple of wall lights by the bed to...

Having stayed here 2 nights recently with my husband I can tell you that the accommodation is not to a very good standard. Our room was in desperate need of an update. The carpet was full of stains. The walls had big old screw holes unfilled..just left. it was obvious the room hadn't been decorated for a long time. The...

Get real; this is a small, friendly pub, with rooms. Yes I have stayed in 5star hotels all over the world, but, take this business as you find it. Major benefits are the olde worlde charm, nice bed linen, basic so what, come down to earth. Food is outstanding. Noise, what noise, go to bed, go to sleep. On a...

We had a last minute, one night break here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room (the four poster) was very comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. Other reviewers have said the rooms are a little dated and that is true - but they are not boutique hotel prices they are good value for money. The hotel is on...
