We had a wonderful visit to the area highlighted by our stay at Hillhouse. The charming home, comfortable beds, amazing breakfasts, and lovely hosts should not be missed when visiting Lac Brome. I would highly recommend it to anyone. I only hope I can return again some day! Just fabulous!
Louise & Gilles we’re superb hosts throughout our weekend stay. Easy going and very hospitable. The breakfast each day was beyond basic. Each was wonderful and a great way to start each day. The rooms are tastefully decorated, the beds super comfortable. The property is centrally located to the area so an easy central location to venture from. Highly recommend staying here if in the area.
Thank you Louise and Gilles for accommodating us! Your kindness and stories made the stay a pleasant one. A 10-minute drive from the town of Knowlton, the BnB is easily accessed as it is located directly on a main artery. While we normally prefer a private bath, the bath outside our room, down the hall, actually worked well because of COVID... we didn't have to share! Hurrah! Louise kindly made reservations for us and helped with directions. Gilles prepared our breakfast... Entrees during our 3 days included poached eggs in a vol-au-vent, fried eggs and duck sausage, and French toast and bacon, and were preceded by either fruit, a pastry or avocado/ cottage cheese. Our room was comfortable and included all necessary amenities. A guest fridge was located in the hallway, with optional coffee service for $2. Payment can be by credit card, with an optional Tip to the owners, if you wish. We enjoyed our stay with you! Lac Brome is definitely worth a visit!!…
As other reviews have mentioned, the hospitality of the hosts Louise and Gilles are without equal and their lovingly preserved home is gorgeous and inviting. We rented a cozy room with private bathroom. The room was equipped with an abundance of useful right down to including wine glasses and bottle opener. Air conditioning unit was included to the room. Bedding was fresh and very comfortable and we definitely felt pampered. We were there 3 days and were served 3 different scrumptious breakfasts each day. The hosts were generous with their time and Louise was always happy to offer advice on the local points of interest and best places to eat. We are already planning a next visit in the Fall and look forward to spending more time at this wonderful home.
Louise and Giles were wonderful hosts. The breakfast(s) were all wonderful. Our room (Margaret) was very nice with a private bath and sitting area. The location is great to travel to Knowlton, Brom, Sutton, and other Eastern Townships. The garden area is also very pretty. I hope to return!
Everything in that place was perfect. The owners make us feel like home. The lunches are worthy of the great restaurants. The rooms are very clean and filled with little touches. I strongly recommant that B&B
In a beautiful old house, with a charming Canadian couple, in the loveliest of spots, perfectly located to travel to the different villages each day, and a yummy smelling breakfast wafting up into your room every morning....just loved it...will return!
We spent one night at Hillhouse on our way to the East Coast. The house is beautiful! It is in a great location with beautiful gardens. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Louise recommended a great restaurant for dinner, just a short drive into Knowlton. In the morning, Louise made us a delicious breakfast served outside on the beautiful porch. We felt truly spoiled! We would definitely return and stay for longer next time we’re in the Eastern Township.
My sister and I stayed at the Hillhouse B&B in Lac-Brome when we visited the Eastern Townships, and we highly recommend this beautiful house and the wonderful hospitality of Louise and Gilles (and their two dogs!). The beds were very comfortable, the rooms filled with historic details, and Louise makes an excellent breakfast. Their wifi is very fast. Louise also made dinner reservations for us, which we appreciated. Hillhouse was our base for our tour with Danielle of Purple Valise Tours of all the places that have inspired Louise Penny in her mystery series.
My brother and I stayed for three nights at the B&B Hillhouse in Lac Brome. Right from the moment we walked up to the property, I knew it was going to be an excellent experience. The beautiful old Victorian-style building has been faithfully restored and is kept immaculately clean. Tasteful decor coupled with gorgeously refinished wood floors greeted us as soon we opened the door. Louise and Gilles were, without a doubt, the most gracious hosts imaginable. They consistently exceeded expectations and the little extras certainly did not go unnoticed. Every day we would return from skiing and touring around the area to freshly made beds, new linens, towels, and all garbages changed and things tidied up. These are services I would expect at a hotel but certainly not something I thought would be included daily in our stay at a small, inexpensive B&B. Our hosts were also very knowledgeable about the area and quick to make recommendations to point us in the direction of excellent local spots to eat, drink, and learn about the history of the Eastern Townships. The breakfasts included in this stay were, quite frankly, 100% over-the-top in quality, composition, and presentation. Attached to this review are pictures of just the main course served each morning. Prior to what you see, we were also always served a dish to start us off which ranged from yogurt parfait (layered with fruit, buckwheat, hemp seeds, chia seeds, and dusted with bee pollen) to fresh fruit cocktail to warm homemade banana bread. In short, our stay at the B&B Hillhouse in Lac-Brome, QC was an amazing experience further enhanced by the hospitality of our hosts, Louise and Gilles. Driving back to the house each day didn't feel like we were going back to a hotel room,...it felt like we were coming home.…
