We stayed at Rj Resorts for a week and overall, our stay was pleasant. Price-wise, Rj is like the Shangri-la of Antique, quite pricey, though we feel it was worth the comfort and convenience that we enjoyed. The hotel is right by the beach so it makes up for the absence of a swimming pool. The rooms are clean and good-sized. The staff is pleasant and accommodating to requests. We had to remind them a couple of times to clean the room, but otherwise, they were ok. The only downside is the food. It's very expensive and not delicious. Breakfast buffet options were very limited, mostly hotdogs, eggs and rice. Best to eat out.
The room was nice, clean and well furnished. Staff very friendly, helpful, and attentive. Violet was terrific. I had two major issues though : (a) the website did not reflect the actual state of the hotel. There was no pool and neither was there an airport pick up; and (b) the room and food were overpriced.
I booked RJ Resort for 3 nights in October 2016 based on the information contained in their website. It seemed an amazing place even although the price was high. Infinity pool, good facilities in rooms, great restaurant, credit card and money changing facilities etc etc. On arrival, the first impressions were very good with lovely decor and very pleasant receptionist but after that it went down hill fast. They do not take credit cards and so I was asked to pay a substantial cash deposit and then be expected to pay the balance in cash. I am not sure that any traveler would walk around with in excess on 30,000 peso in cash. When I asked about the infinity pool I was told that it wasn't built yet! The restaurant could only cater for meals of 4 people all eating the same. We were a party of 3! There was no menu as most food was "not available". What we eventually ate was poor quality and very very expensive. The American Breakfast consisted of a fried egg and 2 poor hot dogs, a banana and coffee dumped in front of us - no choice. Not surprisingly we checked out after one night. The cost was more than a 4 star hotel in Makati where I was stayed many times. It is also at least 3 times the cost of a far better place, La Parola, just a few miles up the coast. Just no comparison. The only good point was the staff who were very pleasant but seem petrified to say anything. I shall not be going back.…
