About
Description
In the midst of the savannah bush on the edge of the Mary River floodplains, Australia’s answer to the Okavango delta, Bamurru Plains’ is the setting for a wilderness experience like no other. With just nine More safari suites, each blending seamlessly with the surrounding bush and with a focus on the key luxury comforts, a supremely comfortable bed, innovative Australian cuisine and premium wines (no TVs, minibars or telephones to distract from the wildlife outside), Bamurru deliberately tries not to be a typical luxury hotel room in the bush. The floodplains and savannah woodland offer one of Australia’s richest wildlife experiences: tens of thousands of Magpie Geese mingle with Whistling Kites, egrets, herons and buffalo on the floodplain, while Blue-winged Kookaburras, parrots, cockatoos and Agile Wallabies inhabit the fringing woodlands. Bamurru’s team of passionate field guides offer a variety of activities, including exhilarating airboat trips on the floodplains, cruises on the Sampan River to spot crocodiles, four-wheel drive safaris, scenic flights over the floodplains and coastline. We can also arrange tours to the rock art galleries of Arnhem Land or guided fishing trips. In the evening, sit back with a sundowner drink and canapés and enjoy the soft ‘Wild Bush Luxury’ touches that are the Bamurru trademark. There is also an open bar, a small swimming pool and nature reference library. Bamurru Plains, its facilities and 300 km² of country are exclusively for the use of its guests, so you can be assured of a quiet, privileged outback experience. We spent 4 wonderful nights at Bamurru concentrating on fishing the run off. Landing on the dusty outback air strip to see a safari style transport vehicle ready to start your adventure really got us all excited for the days ahead. Arriving at the accomodation...More

Just back from 4 nights at Bamurru. The rooms have screens on 3 sides & face the flood plains. This meant waking up & falling asleep to the sights & sounds of the bush, water, animals & multitude of birds. Unexpectedly, everyone reported sleeping better...More

We had a fabulous 3 night stay here during the dry season. It was the perfect balance of enough to do (twice daily wildlife activities) plus some down time. We all loved it. The food and staff are amazing. If you need constant activity or...More

Thank you for your review and I am delighted that you had a great time at Bamurru. While we are obviously about wildlife and wilderness, we intend that the key luxuries of great food, great wine and a really comfortable bed are there to underpin...More

A return visit to Bamurru in the wet integrated with a brilliantly organised photography course. Last time was end of the dry. Two book ends of nature - what was parched with teeming nature congregated into a few billabongs was now a sea of living...More

My wife and I booked a trip to Bamurru for May last year...which for certain reasons had to be cancelled by Wild Bush Luxury. They were quick to offer many options to us one of which was to hold over our deposit for the same...More
