we wanted to have some "country hiking" in Thaton area. we found Renato on in internet and contact him thru Whatsup. the day after we found ourselves walking in the nature with one of the best guide we met. he knew so much about the wildlife and wild plants, walking with him was amazing experience! we stop for lunch at his hut un the middle of bamboo forest and he & his son in low cooked a simple lunch which was great! we hiked with him for about 5 hours and all he charged us was 800 bht per person DON'T MISS!!!

The house is located in Karen, 20 minutes drive from ThaTon. But, Tutu and her family are simply the most welcoming! They picked us up at the bus station in ThaTon by car and drove us to their simply, modest but lovely and welcoming house. There, we had an amazing night stay in a real bamboohouse! Well built, solid, private and totally immerse in the nature. Toilets and Shower with hot water are included in the house. The bed has moquito net, and the hourse has an amazing balcony where to relax properly! Tutu, her mum and daughter take care of everything, including food. In this respect, food is very simple and just OK. Make your preferences very clear if you have restrictions and desires. We spent many hours walking from one village to another, and Tutu has been very generous in explaining any details of the village, the people around, history and gossip! The hike to the pick of the hill and the lunch cooked using bamboo for building plates and cups has been the best! So, overall very authentic experience (to read “real authenticity”) about what it means to stay in a northern thai farmers village; and, definetely great and solid excursions (tutu and her husband are great guides). We met no other turists.
