Our 2 night stay at Wayside Campground was so very convenient to Peggy’s Cove for both sunset and daytime visits and also for the Swiss Air 111 Memorial. Site #1 was a spacious grassy site with picnic table and full hookups, near the office and across the road from an active inlet of Margaret’s Bay. While the road had lots of daytime travelers, the traffic had very much reduced by dinner, and we heard no traffic during the night. A good spot for a Peggy’s Cove visit.

Wayside campground is a good campground for seasonal self contained units (wash rooms, showers etc in your own unit). Bathrooms are old, need updates. Showers are bad, you paid 1 dollar for a dirty put together with any material you can find shower stalls. Shower door didn't lock. They painted the windows so people cannot see in but the paint has been rubbed off. It's cheap camping 30 night but I'd pay more for a better shower and bath room. The camp must have been nice in its day, but lacks up keep. Old broken play ground laying on the long grass, old seasonal decks. A lot of junk when you first pull in, old vehicles and crap. Also very smelly dumpster.
With a little clean up this would be a nice camp ground.

As I understand it, the founder let the place go as he got up there in years. His kids are now running the place and doing the best they can but need a big boost of energy or cash or both to get the place back into decent shape. The RV sites by the road are pull throughs with a bunch of backins nearby. Most are wide open and easy to get into. Yes, there is a sewer smell permeating the campground. On the plus side, they are quite close 5-6 miles from Peggy's Cove.

If you're in the Peggy's Cove area and need a place to park your RV or pitch a tent, we highly recommend Wayside Campground. Debbie and the folks there are amazing and treated us like family! A true testament to east coast Canada 🇨🇦 and their unwavering hospitality. Don’t delay contact Debbie to book your spot.

Great place!
Friendly and accommodating. Stayed in a pull-through site overlooking the water. Site was clean and there was lots of space to play games and have a fire at night. It was lovely to walk through the trails and meet some friendly people also enjoying the campground

The campground is wonderful! Quiet and great scenery. It is close to all amenities, and beaches which is great for kids. There is a very small playground but lots of room to explore. We tented it here and stayed extra nights we loved it so much.
The staff is very friendly and kind. Helpful with any questions or concerns. I will definitely be back!!
Only 4 stars because the laundry was n/a. Otherwise amazing!!

By far the worst campground my wife and I have seen in 30 years. 24/7 septic smell. The washrooms and shower house should really be burnt down.. but then the spiders and several other bugs wouldnt have a home. If your thinking of booking a stay here I only have three words of advice..Dont Do It.

Horrible place to stay. Hated our visit, ended our visit to Nova Scotia here and will never return to this province again. Old run down campground the smell of sewer everywhere, and if you are under the age of 50 the senior busy bodies here are in your business.

We have been coming to Wayside for over 20 years , and we love that it has stayed the same . The people are friendly , the place is always clean , it is close to Peggy's Cove (5 0r 6 minutes) also close to the highway to the South Shore , also for day trips to pretty much anywhere , the rates are very good compared to other places, Large rigs are always welcomed , and there are sites , with Ocean Views . It is just a great place to get away to , being close to Metro makes it a go to place when we do not want a long drive .

Bathrooms are okay, the one set is okay but the one near our site hasn't been cleaned in a long time how hard is it to clean a bathroom? Showers were half working, half not. Site are nice though, owners could seem to not care if you came in or not. Guess by September they are tired.
