Lovely stay at Brockley Estate, perfect for couples or groups looking for a stay with a difference. An estate full of character and charm, with fantastic hospitality courtesy of Julian and Chaxi. Highly recommended.

If you are searching for a rural retreat which offers a restaurant-standard dinner, then this is the B&B for you. It is only a 60 kilometre drive from Hobart and the young couple who manage it give you detailed instructions to reach their historic 1840s homestead for a relaxing stay. The room was comfortable, if a little small. It had...

The title "off the beaten track" is perfect for this B&B and great for a quiet stay & a good nights sleep. The owners are natural hosts & made us very welcome & our stay very easy. They are big promoters & supporters of Tasmanian produce.

Brockley Estate was by far and away the best place we stayed in during a week travelling round Tasmania. It’s an outstanding small hotel, beautifully run, and we wished we had stayed much longer. The old house has a lovely warm atmosphere, and the traditionally furnished bedrooms have all the comforts you could want. Julian and Chaxi were friendly and...

Excellent accomodation in The Dairy part of the property. Outstanding cuisine and fine wines available. The breakfast was beautiful. We enjoyed the family lounge area for reading and socialising. Thanks to Julian and Caxi for a wonderful stay. We used the location to explore the area including Maria island and this worked out well for us.

We spent two nights at Brockley Estate and thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed in the "Best bedchamber" and the bed, pillows, and bathroom were excellent. The room itself is large and airy, with doors opening to the veranda which overlooks the property. We were struck by the quiet and the views of the magnificent trees and farmland. The Drawing Room...

The main accommodation area is a lovely restored cottage from the 1800's filled with antiques. It is part of a working farm so there is a bit of land and wildlife around. We saw echidna, a wild turkey with 6 two day old chicks, wallaby and hares. We stayed in the Marble Double which had a great King bed and...

My sister and I had a wonderful two days-sleeping in the Marble room. The beds were heavenly, the shower forceful and easy for mobility-impaired to use and the food was delicious, mostly locally-sourced and very fresh. It was great to chat with Julian about the "joys" of restoring an older house (the renovation and furnishing of this 1840s homestead is...

Nice stay in peaceful country farm. Pleasant dinner and wonderful to see the restoration of an historic homestead. It's possible to do walks around the property, which is very large. Dinner was nice and we enjoyed the company of the other guests.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Time spent at Brockley Estate is an experience entirely different from what you expect in conventional so-called ‘colonial’ accommodation. The 170-year-old sandstone and convict brick homestead blends seamlessly into its traditional Tasmanian landscape surroundings, with generous verandahs, ancient English trees and hawthorn hedges stretching down to the wide Prosser River.Inside, mellow antique furniture, textiles, pictures and ceramics exude an atmosphere of effortless elegance and good taste that would be almost impossible to replicate in a purely commercial context. With food and wine of a quality rarely encountered in a private house anywhere in Australia, this is genuine colonial country life as it really was and, one hopes, always will be if you know where to look. Now that you are indeed in the know, why not come and share it with us? ... more   less
