Brockley hides itself until you are almost at the door, but it's worth it. Our room, the Marble Bedroom was just the right amount of everything, furniture, size, view. The ensuite was lovely, with a large shower, fluffy towels and lovely robes. Julian and Chaxi run a welcoming and relaxing hotel. It feels like a mix between a farmhouse and...

Beautiful buildings, food and wine but hosts seemed overwhelmed. I found not being able to drink red wine in the lounge odd, when most mixers would stain not just red wine. I suggest they alter their decor to suit an accomodation business rather than compromising the visitior experience.

For a wonderful relaxing time in a quiet but central location an hours north of Hobart you couldn't find a better place to stay. We spent three nights in the wonderful home of Julian and Chaxi, enjoyed a Spanish cooking class, wonderful home made breakfasts with amazing locally sourced produce, and all with some superb service from our hosts. Julian...

We received a warm welcome and soon felt very much at home in this beautiful old homestead. Our hosts Julian and Chaxi were delightful. Chaxi prepared delicious evening meals, which we enjoyed sitting around the communal dining table with the other guests. Rather reminiscent of an English country house party. Breakfast was plentiful with freshly cooked bacon and eggs to...

We recently spent 2 nights at the charming Brockley Estate as a 'kid free' escape. The property is located amongst farmland surrounded by old English gardens. It adjoins the Prosser River where we spent leisurely trips in the Estate's canoe bird spotting and trout fishing. We bush walked from Buckland to Oatlands along the Convict coach road, a definite bucket...

We made our first visit to Tasmania recently and decided to head north away from Hobart on our first day. I had booked the Brockley Estate online before leaving Queensland because it looked like the sort of historic, characterful place that my wife and I like to visit. We arrived later than expected but were warmly welcomed by Julian and...

Run by a couple & staff, they provide a Spanish inspired evening meal, with a sumptuous breakfast of mostly home grown produce. Really outstanding innovative meal, excellent wine selection, best priced Tasmanian wine I have seen, and an honesty bar, with a wide range if local spirits. Takes 8 ( four couples) in authentic 18oo's bedrooms, )complete with antique toilet...

Quite a unique accommodation venue with lots of character and charm. The bonuses were the very helpful and charming hosts, Julian and Chaxi, and the wonderful meals that were served. Would highly recommend this place to others. Sue and Paul

We were given a gift voucher to this bed and breakfast we had never heard of.......and we are so glad, we now know of this peaceful, private amazing Estate hidden between Buckland and Orford. Julian and Chaxi were great hosts, very friendly and always there to provide whatever you needed or were happy to have a chat about the property...

We absolutely loved our weekend at Brockley! Julian, Chaxi and all of the staff are fantastic and you truly feel taken care of - they have also paid a great deal of attention to detail. Such a beautiful home with lovely people, I wish we could have stayed for longer!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Time spent at Brockley Estate is an experience entirely different from what you expect in conventional so-called ‘colonial’ accommodation. The 170-year-old sandstone and convict brick homestead blends seamlessly into its traditional Tasmanian landscape surroundings, with generous verandahs, ancient English trees and hawthorn hedges stretching down to the wide Prosser River.Inside, mellow antique furniture, textiles, pictures and ceramics exude an atmosphere of effortless elegance and good taste that would be almost impossible to replicate in a purely commercial context. With food and wine of a quality rarely encountered in a private house anywhere in Australia, this is genuine colonial country life as it really was and, one hopes, always will be if you know where to look. Now that you are indeed in the know, why not come and share it with us? ... more   less
