The owner and her husband built this motel 26 years ago It has been meticulously maintained. The room was nice with a very comfortable bed, fresh smelling linens, fully equipped kitchenette and a modern bathroom with tub & shower. The location is at "roads end" on the northerly tip of Cape Breton. It is situated on the top of a high hill with a spectacular view for miles out over the ocean. Air conditioning is not needed as the motel was built with a unique self ventilation system to take full advantage of the cool and constant ocean breezes. Great place to just relax. We were only there for 1 night but could easily have stayed much longer.

Go a few miles off the Cape Breton Highland Trail and enjoy beautiful views, sunsets, clean and very up to date rooms with superb hospitality included.
So worth it! A very pleasant surprise.
Head out from here to Meat Cove- the most northern point-and even go for a swim.

For us, just right. We were on a fall color tour of Cape Breton, bringing enough food for dinner, snacks, and breakfast. This location has fabulous views of lovely leaves and the sea. And it has good housekeeping equipment (including a cutting board), needed because there was no open restaurant for a half hour drive. My only complaint is that couples in the next room kept us up at night and got us up in the morning, as the walls are on the thin side. A nice warm bath finished a strenuous day.

Charged our credit card for charges from my sister in-law because she paid using debit and wanted to charge us for not being inside the room at 10 o’clock on a Saturday night after a funeral . She was then peaking around the corner hiding watching us like a obsessed girlfriend. And fully admits to charging us 180 dollars for someone else’s charges on a video recording and charges for being outside and children enjoying themselves after a stressful day and for a dirty room ? For not putting the rollaway bed away so god knows if you use the couch bed if it’s cleaned or if that’s a way for her to cheat out and not change the sheets ? As all the garbage was in the cans and left the recyclables on the counter so she could get the 5cents for our water bottles. The towels were in a pile in the bathroom. She also accused the wife and I of drinking like it was a pub when we had a 3 year old and neither of us consumed alcohol. If anyone wishing to stay here would like a recording of how unprofessional the owner is I can send it to you before you make the biggest mistake of your life. So don’t go here if you have children or want to sit outside after 10 o’clock and don’t feel like being watched by an obsessed girlfriend.

I **highly recommend** Burton’s Sunset Oasis. It has everything you need for a comfortable and self-sufficient stay while in northern Cape Breton (especially during a tropical system, which I experienced). It’s a great home base for exploring the national park and accessing the Money Point and Kautzmann Trails. The owner, Debbie, shared wonderful stories about living in local lighthouses during her lifetime. Her son has been working with various governments to develop the forthcoming Seawall Trail. The views and sunsets are priceless. When I return to Cape Breton, I will return to Burton’s Sunset Oasis.

A trip to the East Coast is a bit of a throwback to earlier days - especially in sleeping accommodations, at least for someone from Ontario. Just did a 7-day trip in the Maritime Provinces and all overnights were in motels. Something I have not done in years. And all were a pleasant surprise!
Especially Burton's Sunset Oasis. Clean, comfortable, friendly.
And a magnificent view in the morning, looking out over the ocean.
No hesitation in recommending this hotel.

After an unfortunate start to our booking due to an area wide power outage we eventually settled in for a quiet and restful night. The room was very comfortable and well appointed. What a beautiful location; you can see for miles and miles. I just wish the owners or host were around in the morning to have a conversation.

We loved this place that felt like it was on top of the world! It was a cute place where most everything is over priced and very rustic. We liked how quiet it was and how stunning the location is!! We spent 2 nights here and loved it!! Recommend it hightly!!

We stopped at Burton's Sunset Oasis to get a room. They did not have one for us, but she phoned around until she found us one. She was so nice and incredibly helpful. The motel had breathtaking views, the sunset was amazing. The grounds were very nicely kept. I would recommend this motel to everyone..

Just wondering if a rag/sponge and dishwashing liquid is provided to wash dishes? Thanks.

Yes, there is everything you need for doing dishes. Basic kitchen stuff but no extra like a teapot or kettle. Bring coffee filters for the drip machine. There are no spices or sugar etc for cooking.
