The Holiday Inn Express Malta stands out for its central location, which, while convenient for exploring nearby beaches and nightlife, can be a double-edged sword as some guests report nighttime noise. However, the hotel's atmosphere is described as vibrant, and despite some noise complaints, the spacious, well-appointed rooms are often praised for their cleanliness and comfort.
The staff's friendliness and professionalism are frequently highlighted, and guests appreciate the range of amenities offered, including a varied breakfast and access to facilities at a neighboring hotel. The overall consensus is that the hotel provides good value for the traveler's money.

Lovely hotel with very friendly staff, when booking in we did have a twin booked but was upgraded to a double room each at no extra cost so that was a great start for us. Breakfast was really nice and evening food at the bar was very enjoyable.
I would say our overall experience was 10/10, thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

Holiday Inn Express Malta Hotel is a nice four-star hotel in the heart of St. Julian’s, the most vivid part of Malta, convenient situated near the beach (St. George’s Bay) and about 18 km from Malta International Airport [the bus stop from the airport bus St. Julian’s (X2 & TD2) is close to the hotel] and with good bus connection to the old city of Valletta and Sliema ferries.
The Holiday Inn Express Malta Hotel is a colorful, modern designed, and nice hotel with very clean, bright and comfortable rooms [e.g. orthopedic betting with firm and soft pillows, a practical work desk (and enough bath amenities)].
I have noticed that the service of the staff (e.g. reception and restaurant) was outstanding (as they were polite, attentive, friendly and helpful) giving you the feeling that you are invited in a warm and friendly environment (special mention must be given to Mr. Savior)
I liked also very much the coffee and tea facilities in the room as well as the complimentary buffet breakfast [and also the environmentally friendly practices of the hotel (i.e. Green engage)] Throughout the hotel the WiFi was free and speedy.
Summing up I liked my stay at the Hotel Holiday Inn Express Malta and my stay was enjoyable (also good value for money that time) and I would stay again if I will be in Malta.

I've stayed at a few Holiday Inn Express hotels before, mainly in the UK, but this HIE is WAY above anything I've experienced before.
The street level entrance is somewhat underwhelming, but the Reception Area on the 8th Floor is bright, attractive and welcoming.
There was no queue when we checked in, and the 2 ladies who helped us were very efficient and friendly. We'd arrived a couple of hours before the normal check-in time, but they said they'd make sure our room was ready in 30 minutes. We sat in the comfortable seating area and were served tea and coffee while we waited. 20 minutes later we were given the key cards to our room - 593.
This is a twin room with a small balcony overlooking the road with an upmarket Shopping Centre opposite, and St George's Bay with the sea and beach to our right. The room was immaculately clean and bright, and the beds were very comfortable.
The road outside is fairly noisy during the day and very noisy at night when all the bars and restaurants get into full swing. However, with the sliding door to the balcony closed we could hear no noise from outside.
The Reception area has comfortable seating both inside and outside on the roof terrace, which is perfect for chatting, relaxing or just sunbathing. An added bonus with this HIE is that the sister hotel the Intercontinental is next door, and all guests are given an access card to the various facilities the Intercontinental has to offer. Particularly appealing was the large open air pool, sun loungers and roof garden which we used on several occasions.
Notwithstanding all of this, breakfast was the highlight of our time in the Hotel. The hot and cold food was varied and of good quality, and most days we ate on the roof terrace with a ,lovely view of St Georges Bay.
However, it was the staff who made breakfasts memorable. First of all many thanks to Mario and Saviour for making us feel so welcome. We noticed that they went round every table talking to the guests, fetching them tea, coffee or juice and generally making them all feel very welcome, and like personal friends
My highest praise, though must go to a young Nepalese lady called Prasuna. She was so friendly, helpful and attentive, and not only went the extra mile, she went the extra HUNDRED miles to make sure that all the breakfast guests were happy. Her unfailing cheerfulness and appealing smile made breakfast an absolute pleasure.
Thank you Prasuna.
This hotel gets a very high rating and I feel this is completely deserved. For those very few who had problems, they must have been very unfortunate, and I'm sure if they returned, they'd be delighted with their stay.
We certainly were, and we'll hopefully be back soon.

Pros:
Staff are friendly enough
Rooms are ok and clean
Breakfast wasn’t bad
Balconies overlooking St George’s Bay are a nice touch, if a bit small
Nice of them to be able to provide complimentary toiletries if you need them
It’s good you can earn 500 IHG points a night if you don’t require a maid to clean your room and replace your towels, etc.
You can use the nice indoor pool and other health and fitness facilities of the Intercontinental hotel next door
Despite being right by the hustle and bustle of St George’s Bay you can barely hear anything from outside when the balcony door is shut.
Cons:
You’re warned about the possibility of queues at breakfast but you’re not told have to wait and be served by staff! I totally understand there was a need to take precautions… 6 months ago maybe, but now? It is not entirely necessary to not allow people to get their own breakfast if you have guards up or ask people to wear gloves/use tongs, etc. Sometimes you’re having to wait way longer than is necessary to be served, which also means you can only really go up once which defeats the idea of a buffet.
The rooms are small and there’s hardly any space for luggage or to put away clothes. If you’ve got a lot of clothes, you’ll be out of luck of finding places to put them except keep them in your luggage. There was also only one chair in our room, which is a bit pointless if there’s two of you staying there. A mini fridge or cooler would be nice, especially considering how hot Malta is, nobody wants warm drinks!
We were misled into thinking you could also use the outdoor pool next door. When we got there you can’t unfortunately and they simply refuse you access unless you are staying with them. So if you want to sunbathe outside your best bet is the small gravelly beach down the road.

This hotel is very basic, its in a good location but due to ongoing construction this is also a downside.
Upon check in the manager was great and very informative and took the time to give tips on where to go. Sadly the excitement and good feelings about the hotel quickly left.
The corridors on floor 5 were disgusting with litter and stains.
When we entered the room it was clean and basic but very hot, when we tried to turn the air con down it only went to 17 degrees, upon calling the front desk the answer was negative.
The setting was to heat and they were unable or unwilling to change this, their solution was to open the balcony door!
After expressing my displeasure at this and requesting a fan they eventually found one.
Outside the hotel is bay street which is loud anyway, but opposite a building is being demolished so the constant noise of this is present, hence the unwillingness to open the balcony doors.
The Tv remote batteries ran out and the front desk were unhelpful and made us go to them to get a new one, I've never know that in any hotel.
Now to the worst part, breakfast.
Breakfast is simple and meets the needs with its selection but the location and set up is dire.
There is not enough seating for the nunber of guests and its like the hunger games trying to find a seat.
The actual buffet part is in a very small area which gets very overcrowded and people do not queue at all.
A worker chastised me for not wearing gloves on one had, I had a skin allergy so couldn't but perhaps the use of gloves is redundant to prevent covid transmission when you are cramming so many people into a small space, many not wearing masks and staff did not instruct them to wear a mask.
Staff are more interested in guest wearing gloves than masks. Go figure.
We checked out 2 days early as this hotel was not up to standard.

Our stay at the hotel was in November and the hotel was very clean being that this year this was a bit abnormal since the Corona viruis has hit all the world. All safety regulations are observed in this hotel. in the room you find a kit which includes a mask as well. The entrance of the hotel is equipped with hand sanitizers. The receptionist was very helpful and all the staff are very kind and helpful
breakfast indeed was abundant with English breakfast together with seasonal fresh fruits and pastries cereals etc etc
we enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay and recommend this hotel to family and friends

I stayed in Holiday Inn Express for a week and was very impressed with the service from Saviour, Alex, Irene and Ali. Saviour was fantastic and did all he could to give the best service throughout my stay when I saw him at breakfast. HIE is in a great location for St Julians and close to the beach but very noisy and lively during the nights. The beach is very crowded during the day. HIE does not have any outdoor pool but there’s an indoor pool, spa and gym which is free to use at the Intercontinental Hotel next door. The changing room is very dirty for a 5 star hotel. St Julians is also quite expensive to eat out with a dish of pizzas or pastas at around €12. Hygiene at HIE is very good and if you don’t mind the noise and partying around then this is the place for you.

Ultra modern hotel in the Paceville area of St Julians. Rooms were compact but modern and clean and bed very comfortable. we had a small balcony that overlooked the street to the front of the hotel. Bathroom was compact and functional and the toiletries suppled were lovely (Shampoo and bodywash in a dispenser on the shower wall) The room and tea and coffee facilities and we were left a gift of gingerbread cookies as it was Christmas time. There was an iron and board and a decent hairdryer in the room. Our only issue with the room facilities was the lack of hanging space which didnt bother us as we were only staying for 4 nights, but could be an issue for a longer stay. Breakfast was included and was quite good with hot and cold items available. Christmas day there were extras like smoked salmon, glazed donuts and a cheese selection. We did notice that there was takeaway boxes supplied - we think so you could grab and go, but we saw people eating breakfast at a table then raiding the buffet as they left which meant that at times the buffet ran out of certain items. One of the staff that covered breakfast was a lovely man who took great delight in helping people with sightseeing suggestions.
The hotel has access to the Intercontinental next door and at check in we were supplied a leisure pass to use the pool and facilities. When we tried to do this the lady on the pool said they had no towels so we weren't able to go in which was disappointing.
We had 2 issues with the hotel. Firstly the TV in the room had limited English channels and we found that for some reason the TV turned off after about 15 to 30 minutes of watching which was very frustrating. We reported this and were told there were issues with the TV service and we were given a complimentary drink, however the TV service never improved.
The other issue is the hotel location - its right next door to an area called Paceville street which while relatively quiet during the day turns into nightclub central at night and from our room on the front of the hotel we could hear the music and people until 4am!
There is also currently building work across from the hotel, which we were not aware of.
It was not an issue Xmas Eve/Xmas Day but once things went back to normal they started work at about 7am.
Overall we enjoyed out stay, but probably wouldnt return to this area of St Julians.

We (myself and my father) visited Malta for the first time in May 2022 and stayed for 7 nights in this hotel. The hotel is located in the vibrant and lively part of St. Julians (nightlife and party area), which we were not really aware of before we booked.
The first night was a shock for us that where have we landed as my aged father and I are not party animals. The disco beats pierced through the walls of our room till 3AM the morning. The very next morning we brought this to the attention of the reception staff and were told that though they wanted to help us but were unable to shift us to a quieter area as the hotel was fully booked.
After some time, the manager, Mr. Mark Brownrigg, came to our room and tried to understand our side of the story and was really willing to find a solution to our problem. Eventually he came back again and offered that we would be able to move the following day to the quieter side of the hotel where there was no street sound and was also gracious enough to offer us 50% discount for the first two nights, to which we agreed as it was almost impossible to find another hotel in the vicinity as they were fully booked. Mr. Brownrigg personally inquired a couple of hotels if it was possible for us to move to a quieter location on the island, a wonderful manager and a very nice human being.
Further during our stay of 7 days, we had a wonderful time in this hotel, particularly the breakfast staff in the morning was so welcoming and kind. We met Mr. Saviour, a gentleman in his 70’s and still working there who made each and every guest feel as if they were his personal guests, so loving and so kind and did everything possible to make the breakfast time, a time to remember for the rest of your life. Not only he, there was also Mr. Mario, equally kind and helpful and ever ready to serve.
We would certainly recommend this hotel if you are in Malta, the rooms are well furnished, clean and new. Only make sure that while booking to request a room in the quieter area of the hotel.

This hotel is set in a great location, literally a minute from the beach and less than that to the shops, bars and restaurants. The customer service at the hotel is outstanding in all ways, it is immaculately clean and we were particularly impressed by Ali Makade and Saviour who are attentive, friendly and guided us through the COVID restrictions. Ali was always available to ensure we had everything we needed throughout the week as he was on shift most of the time. The roof terrace has outstanding views and this is a favourite hotel for us to visit. This was my 2nd time and my parents 5th time and we will be back. I would highly recommend this hotel to travellers. There is no pool but you can use the facilities next door.

Holiday Inn guests are given a pass to use the indoor pool, spa and fitness centre. I don’t think the outdoor pool and the St. George beach are included. Please ask HI Express front desk for a robe. Towels are provided at the indoor pool.
I'm sure we were told we had use of the pool while we were guests. No charge was mentioned
