Hilton Malta has garnered praise for its impeccable cleanliness and a wealth of amenities, including multiple pools and a spa, despite some reports of overcrowded areas and a breakfast selection that lacks variety. Guests are fond of the spacious rooms with stunning sea views, though a few note the decor could use an update. The service at Hilton Malta is frequently commended for its professionalism and attentiveness, contributing to the hotel's positive atmosphere, which is marked by modern touches and lively happenings. Located in the heart of St. Julian's, the hotel offers convenient access to local attractions, though opinions on its value for money are divided, with some guests pointing out extra costs.

This is a first-class hotel, in the best position of any hotel in the St Julian's Bay area. Within a very short walking distance were many good standard restaurants and shops But, it's not quite 5-stars. I suggest 4.5 stars.

This is a snapshot of the best points, in addition to the above. The staff are very attentive and efficient. Check-in was quick and, as the hotel was not full, we were permitted a 2-hour extension (to 2 pm) for our checkout. The concierge and entrance areas are well-staffed, and there were virtually always taxis available immediately, outside.

The hotel has a wonderful pool area, with large pools, plenty of loungers and parasols, and attentive pool and bar staff. There is also a very large, well-appointed gym and indoor pool, open from 6 am until 10 pm. We did not use the attached spa - but my wife went to the adjacent (to the spa) hairdresser, which was not expensive.

We had a Superior room which was modern, with two double beds, a balcony and sea-facing. The room well-appointed and the housekeeper looked after us well, with plenty of towels and large towelling robes. The downsides: our beds were very hard - which my wife found very uncomfortable, and the bathroom had a shower in the bath, not separate, with high sides to the bath; we both found it difficult climbing in and out. Most 5-star hotels now have in-room pod coffee machines, but only instant coffee was available here. there is no evening turndown service, with a cleanup and fresh towels.

We did eat in both of the (full) restaurants and coffee lounge - and these were excellent, especially the "Blue Elephant" first-class Thai food one. Breakfast was a marvellous buffet, with lots of choice (although Malta has a restricted import of fruit, so the variety of fruit offered did not include some staples usually found in many hotels of this standard).

This wasn't our first visit to Malta. Will we stay in the Hilton again for our next visit? Absolutely, yes!!

Dear Anthony K Thank you for your detailed review! We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit to the Hilton Malta, and that our team members made you feel welcome and cared for. We are sorry to hear that you found your bed too hard for your comfort. Please reach out to our Housekeeping team when you stay with us again, as we can make mattresses firmer or softer, according to a guest's preference - we are always keen to ensure our guests are entirely comfortable in their rooms. On another note, we do have rooms with walk-in showers, and these are located in the sea view side of the hotel (as against the marina view side). Please request a walk-in shower when you make your reservation, and we shall be very happy to allocate one such room to you. Thank you for your kind comments regarding your dining experiences, which have been shared with our Chefs, and are much appreciated. It is a pleasure to hear that you plan to come back to our hotel one day. We look forward to welcoming you back, and to providing you with many memorable experiences. Kind regards Rachel - Hilton Malta

We’ve never been to Malta. The Hilton didn’t disappoint at all- it was a fabulous place to stay. All the staff were very helpful and the facilities were excellent. We have a child with a food allergy and I felt very confident in all the serving staff and chefs to ensure she was looked after. We really enjoyed the Meerkanti over 16s pool area. Particular mention to the Gazebo outdoor restaurant- Tom and Christina looked after us very well- thank you for contributing to a fabulous holiday!

We stayed here a second time for my birthday weekend. We were upgraded to an executive room on the 10th floor with a fantastic sea view because of our gold status. We were also given access to the excellent lounge on the 9th floor, where staff made drinks for us, and were very attentive in ensuring that our glasses never ran dry without a replacement.

The hotel's location is in an ideal part of St Julian's. Everything is a short walk away. Uber to and from the airport costs as little as €13 each way.

The air conditioning is very effective with very quick cooling and heating (in December). The beds are very comfortable. On both sides of the bed are standard British sockets and old USB-A sockets, which appear to be upgradable.

Flannels are provided in the bathrooms, and staff twice made a decorative towel display on the bed.

There is a good choice of English-speaking television channels, although the picture quality could be better. The wifi speed was around 11Mbps downstream and around 21Mbps upstream.

The breakfast was as fantastic as last time with a huge amount of choice to suit every taste, and it's even possible to have breakfast comfortably outside in December.

We were given late check-out in view of our Hilton gold status, which was a nice end to our stay.

We stayed at the Hilton Malta July 2024. I booked a relaxation suite which, although the room was nice was anything but relaxing. The room was on the back of the hotel overlooking the rocks & sea. Amazing views during the day but throughout the night the local youngsters congregated there every night until dawn. The music & shouting was horrendous. After 3 sleepless nights the hotel exchanged our room for one overlooking the marina. Peace at last. I was amazed & somewhat annoyed that the executive rooms on the higher floors offered breakfast & afternoon tea in a quiet location on the 9th floor whereas we, having paid considerably more, had to queue for breakfast with about 500 others. Something the hotel needs to address. The staff are superb as are the restaurants but this is not a 5* hotel. I was also very pleased that I found the adults only pool after the first day.

Dear Heather C Thank you for your review. We are disappointed to have fallen short of your expectations during your stay at the Hilton Malta, particularly with regard to the noise from outside the hotel that disturbed you while you were in your relaxation suite. We are truly sorry for the frustration that this must have caused you. In such circumstances, if a guest should report any such disturbance from the public spaces outside the hotel, our immediate action is to contact the Police. Thank you for reaching out to our team members during your stay and giving us the opportunity to look for an alternative room for you. We shall do our best to allocate a quieter room in a different part of the hotel when you stay with us again. We appreciate that breakfast times are very busy during this season. Should you wish to try our enhanced Continental breakfast in the Executive Lounge when you visit us again, please book one of our Executive rooms. These are identical to our Deluxe rooms in size and layout, but come with access to the Executive Lounge which serves breakfast, afternoon tea and pre-dinner drinks. Thank you for your kind words regarding our team members, and your experiences at our dining outlets and at the adults-only Merkanti Beach Club. We hope you will return to our hotel one day. We look forward to welcoming you back, and to having another opportunity to provide you with a truly memorable experience. Kind regards Rachel - Hilton Malta

This review comes from the deepest part of my heart because i am still amazed at how good one hotel can be. I have done a 10 minute video on this hotel on Tiktok because i wanted you to actually see how Christmas is in Hilton, Malta.

Firstly the reception team are super professional and the entire facility is very clean with a classy upsale feel. They welcomed us on the 21st of December '24 with mulled wine. The decoration represented all things Christmas with a crib in tow.

Staff are well managed and super nice even kind. Rooms are done up regularly and when you have the privacy notes telling them not to clean, they leave a note telling you to invite them in to clean whenever. I am an extensive traveller, Never have i seen this before!

Rooms and facilities are great, they think of everything, we had an Umbrella in our room - can you beat that!

Breakfast was awesome and the food and drinks managers were moving around like project managers ensuring no issues whatsoever. Innocent in the dining area was great.

I fell ill 3 days on and they did me an organic ginger and lemon tea and delivered it to my room. Wow!

Leading up to Christmas they had little surprises for us in the rooms. Room service left white wine on one day, then processo, cake, chocolates, soft toys. What a hotel! I have to stop here but i still have so much to say. Its my first Hilton stay as its usually a little expensive but it is so worth it.

I wonder if all Hiltons are like Hilton Malta.

Thank you!

We stayed here for 5 nights. Rooms a good size with nice ocean view. My favourite bit was the adult only pools which you can access for free - plenty of loungers and very relaxing in this part. We had a club room and would definitely recommend one of these as you get access to the club lounge - you get breakfast and pre dinner drinks (with snacks) for free as part if your stay and is good value. You can quickly Uber/Bolt everywhere. We went to the capital in the evenings twice and also Mdina…both only 15 mins in a cab and reasonable price.

Hotel is nice but doesn’t quite feel 5 star - bedding not as luxurious as you’d expect, staff service just average compared to other 5 stars etc. It’s probably one of the nicer hotels to stay in this region so would recommend if visiting this area. I was disappointed that Hilton don’t give points when you book as park of a package (we went via BA).

Such a lovely place for a nice break.

We booked last minute through British Airways Holidays to stay at the Hilton Malta for 5 nights, We had two rooms, one accessible excutive king and one Duluxe Seav View. Both rooms were lovely - one was in the newer ednd nof the resort and one in the original part. Both were very modern though.

We used the valet parking at the hotel for our rental car and it was great. 15 euros a day for valet is great value and it was parked in the underground car park.

The hotel itself if mordern and big but evrything is very convient. The 5 pools were great and the Merkanti Beach club (adults only) was the perfect place to unwind in a quiet area. It has 2 pools and a resturant/bar. The larger pool is mainoy for kids. There is also an indoor pool.

Food at the hotel, from what we tried was good. The Blue Elephant Thai resturant is definely worth it and is one of the best hotel resturants we have been to. The food at the Merkani beach club was good and not to expensive. The only thing that seemed overpriced was drinks at the beach club and in the lobby, cocktails especially. You are better of going to a local bar and getting a drink, there a lots of happy hours in St Julians/ Spinola Bay.

As a wheelchair user, the resort was great. Mostly everywhere was accessible from my point of view and the accessible rooms were great, lots of grab rails, both a bath and shower and enough room. Ramps and lifts everywhere, except into the Quaterdeck bar. Great resort for access though.

Would defo stay here again.

I stayed at the Hilton Malta for 9 nights and I had a wonderful experience. The hotel is located in a beautiful area,
We specifically asked for a room with a bath and freestanding shower and our room 719 was as requested. Thank you Rachel. It was spacious, and comfortable, with a large balcony and a stunning view overlooking the sea and the marina. Katia cleaned the room with meticulous attention to detail and we were very happy with her work.
In general the staff were friendly and helpful especially Amy and Carlos in the executive lounge.
We have stayed 3 times before and as diamond Hhonors members we usually take the adequate free breakfast in the executive lounge. However on this occasion we decided to pay extra to try the more comprehensive breakfast on offer in the main restaurant. We were disappointed overall with this decision as the food service area was badly organised with queues for eggs blocking all of the other hot food on display. Tea and coffee was also mostly self-service and unless you found a waiter to get this you were not able to get a pot of tea only a cup. It seems a little known fact that waiters who mostly just clear the tables would bring various poached egg recipes from the kitchen to the Hhonors diamond area. Even though the breakfast restaurant was fairly large it was overcrowded during this period of high occupancy.
The executive lounge serves an excellent afternoon tea from 3pm to 4:30pm and unimaginative evening canapes with free drinks from 5pm to 7pm
The hotel has a spa with an indoor pool, sauna and steam room as well as a couple of outdoor pools and a beach club with more pools (closed for the winter). The gym is well equipped and busier than in most Hiltons.
There are also many restaurants and bars nearby. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and luxurious stay in Malta.

This is an excellent hotel in a great location and with wonderful staff. We travel all over the world and this hotel is one of the best value of all.

The hotel itself is very modern and everything is high quality from the reception area, the bars and restaurants to the room fixtures and fittings. The outdoor areas are lovely too.

The location of the hotel is fantastic, it is in an up market location, set on a lovely marina, near the sea but with lots of bars, restaurants and shops nearby. The shops and restaurants range from simple and cheap bars to very upmarket and expensive and everything in between. The onsite Blue Elephant Thai definitely deserves a special mention, it is very impressive in every way and good value.

The hotel is made special though by its staff, not just a few staff but every single one of them from the reception team, the concierge, the bar and waiting staff, the egg chef, the cleaners and managers. They are all polite, helpful and nothing seems too much trouble, they should all be very proud. Special mention to Orhan and Innocent.

Lets start off with the hotel is massive. We are a family of 4 with two kids (12 and 14 years old.

***If you want a good area around the pool you better go before 9:00/9:30, as people lay there towels out and are not seen again for hours.***

Caveat we did not have much interaction with the hotel staff.

We had the panorama room 907. The room did not disappoint. It was large and the terrace was huge that gave nice views of the marina and the sea.

Breakfast is congested. Most of the time we ate around 9. There are a lot of people in the breakfast area, and the staff does there best to maintain the food and seating area. Executive lounge has the same things as the buffet but the eggs to order. But the lounge is not anymore quite as kids are running around.

The maid on the 907 side is amazing. I do not remember her name, but she was friendly, conversated with us and seemed to care about how the rooms where presented. Just a pleasant person.

The hotel from walking around is clean and seems fairly upkept.

I don't know if I would stay at the Hilton Malta on our next visit. For the price of the panorama room, I think there are nicer hotels with less people and stress in the area that offer the same kind of stay.

Dear Traveler-with-Kids1 Thank you very much for your review! We are delighted that you and your family enjoyed your stay at the Hilton Malta generally, and that our team member Pressede, who serviced your room, made you feel welcome and cared for. Of course we are disappointed that your experience was not the tranquil, peaceful one we would have wished for you. As you will have seen, this time of year is high season for all hotels, and here at the Hilton Malta we welcome many families with young children who are on holiday from school. We do suggest to our guests which times at Oceana restaurant are most busy, and which tend to be quieter, in order to ensure all guests have a pleasant breakfast time. As for the Executive Lounge, we appreciate parents' support in keeping their children entertained so that all guests can enjoy the relaxing space that is our Lounge; our team members will assist with providing activities for our youngest guests to enjoy. We hope you will return to our hotel one day soon. We look forward to welcoming you back, and to providing you with many memorable experiences. Kind regards Rachel - Hilton Malta
