Just returned home from a wedding in The Torrance and it was very impressive, the room was lovely, , spacious, comfortable and classy... we had lunch, dinner and breakfast and couldn't fault the presentation, quality and quantity my only disappointment was the service in the restaurant, staff seemed disorganised and unhappy, they got our order wrong despite asking twice what we wanted,... Bit on the expensive side. Breakfast not included. Room was very dark and not in a good location within the hotel. No wi fi in room. When I advised reception could they care less...No. Hence this review. Bar was garish and no interesting Scottish ales. Breakfast was on a menu and yet they couldn't provide me with what I had... The food was delicious. The presentation superb. The waiting staff very pleasant indeed. The only drawback was that the service was very slow. However, the surroundings were very nice and if we hadn't been a bit pushed for time, we wouldn't have minded the wait

ordered haggis nachos & a steak ciabatta at 7.45, went to the bar at 8.20 to ask how long it would be, told by the manager another 10 mins, as they were busy but looked in restaurant, it wasn't busy. Even if it was, we ended up waiting 50 mins, no communication, apology or check back. We asked for steak... More

I stayed in room 4 for one night. Clean and comfortable albeit really small ( you struggle to get between the walls and the bed. This was ok for a single traveller but I think a couple might struggle in this room. The restaurant food was very good indeed and I shall hope to return.

I've stayed here many times over the last 3 years. My first time was the only complaint I had. I booked a double room and was out in room 3 which was a twin room. I sucked it up and got on with it but had very poor wifi connection. Being on a business trip this was very frustrating. Even... More

I had the pleasure of attending a wedding at this lovely venue on Friday 26th August. The food was lovely and they had the room looking great. The bar service was fine however I think they underestimated the amount of people who were there. Therefore sometimes it caused unfortunate lengthy queues. They were late in setting the room up for... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcoming traditional village hotel in walking distance to Scotland's largest undercover shopping and leisure centre in East Kilbride. East Kilbride has many local attractions including Village Theatre, Golf Courses, Ten Pin Bowling, Ice Skating, Odeon Cinema and is only 7 miles from Glasgow city centre. Built in 1773 by General Stuart of Torrance as a cotton-spinning mill and workers' houses the building in Torrance Square provided a focus for town life. In its many incarnations the popular Torrance Hotel has also housed a school, a shop and a Coaching Inn, but it has always been at the heart of East Kilbride. The building has retained all its original character and charm. We have 20 comfortable bedrooms including the newly refurbished Honeymoon Suite for 2007. Enjoy a meal in our warm and friendly restaurant or lounge bar which caters for a wide range of food from traditional meals to bar snacks. We are a 5 minute walk from the local train station which will take you straight into Glasgow's Central Station which runs every half hour. If more information is required then do not hesitate to ask our friendly receptionist staff. We would like to advise guests that there will be no bar or restaurant facilities for the next 4 months. We are undergoing a major refurbishment to improve the services to the guests in the future. ... more   less
