My husband and I spent 4 nights here (Sat-Tue) in early November for a mini-getaway. With only 2 ferries a day, and being one of the few inns that are open, there was a fair amount of check-in traffic for off-season. Rita was so friendly and responsive to all of her guests and no one seemed put out by a...

Pleasant seaside inn with extremely helpful and cheerful staff. Rates are high on BI but our room was very large (king bed almost looked small;-)) and extremely clean and comfortable. Lots of closet space. Loved the breakfast on the beautiful porch. We had a lingering issue with luggage which kept us in communication with the inn for several days after...

Leaving our car behind we came with bikes and plans to enjoy both the beauty that abounds on this lovely island and the 1661 Inn. Not disappointed for a moment the abundant morning breakfast at the Inn started us fueled for the day and our full kitchen enabled savory meals in the evening. We also dined at Kimberly's who like...

I surprised my husband with a stay at the 1661. We stayed in the Adrian Mitchell cottage. I prearranged to have the fire lit and the champagne chilling for our arrival. It was perfect, warm and cozy with an incredible expansive view of the pond and Atlantic ocean. The decor in the cottage is what you would hope for on...

Decided on a whim while in Newport with another couple to escape by ferry to wonderful Block Island. Visited the friendly, helpful folks at the Newport Visitors Center, who helped us find this amazing property at a last minute discount. Although the price was still high for these budget travelers, the inn and the experience far exceeded our expectations. Incredible...

We came to Block Island for business and stayed at the main building, 1661 Inn. The man at the reception desk was most friendly. He walked us to our room and pointed out the features, like the remote controlled AC and how to work the jacuzzi tub. We found the room (the Alcock) very spacious and comfortable. Everything seemed clean...

The 1661, while still retaining it's original island charm, has been beautifully renovated to appeal to those who prefer the updated and upgraded style. The hosts always insure that your every need is met. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

We recently stayed at the Dodge Cottage and we were very disappointed. We stayed on the second floor in a the back of the building -- the room was dark and dingy. There was just one small overhead light by the door and one lamp by the bed. The carpet, furniture and linens were old and tired. The bathroom was...

Everything was meticulously and personally attended to. Staff was friendly and accommodating. A private bath is probably worth the extra dollars. Staying in the main house is more convenient if the weather is inclement. The afternoon wine and nibbles in charming. The hotel owner has a farm across the street which is a don't miss. camels, yak, kangaroos, sheep.... There...

I wanted to extend my sincerest gratitude to Rita for providing such a lovely property and for getting up at the crack of dawn while still dark and taking me to the Ferry. She graciously accepted a phone call from me at 5:30 AM with a request for a ride and she was more than accommodating. This is the epitome...
