The Luckenbooth is a beautifully appointed and spacious B&B located about 15 minutes drive north of Baddeck on the Cabot Trail. The property, nestled among trees on the shore of St Ann’s bay, provides a quiet, restful haven after a day of activities along the Trail and Cape Breton Highland National Park. Built relatively recently, the B&B itself has an airy, open design. It is elegantly furnished and decorated with spacious common areas and a deck overlooking the waters of the bay. The guest rooms seem well-separated from each other with no sense of “crowding”. Our room was very large, well-furnished and comfortable with many modern amenities uncommon in older B&Bs. Our hosts were very friendly, welcoming and exceptionally helpful with information and advice (e.g. things to do in the area when the weather turns inclement). The excellent breakfasts can be light or substantial depending on your choice. We enjoyed the quiet and relaxation offered by the Luckenbooth, even as the sights and dining of Baddeck, the region’s “capital”, and the Gaelic College of St Ann- were close by. We have not enjoyed any B&B more than our 3-day stay at the Luckenbooth and recommend it without hesitation to anyone exploring this beautiful region of Nova Scotia.

Excellent stay with hosts Gary & Donna-Lynn who are so welcoming, warm and accommodating. The house is absolutely stunning and very clean. It has a wonderful patio where you can sit and watch the stars at night. The room was huge and had an ensuite washroom (also very clean), and was very quite , which is perfect for a good nights sleep. The daily breakfast was very good and the portions are very filling( you will not be hungry until dinner at times :). An overall great stay at the Luckenbooth and I highly recommend booking with them ! Thank you again Donna-Lynn & Gary, we had a lovey time! Isidora & Cesar

My husband and I stayed here for one night as the starting point of our drive around the Cabot Trail. We wish we had stayed here both nights of our trip, and driven back on the second night! The hosts, Donna-Lynn and Gary were absolutely wonderful. They have gone above and beyond to provide a very comfortable, luxurious stay! The attention to detail in their rooms and the breakfast they offer makes them a 5 star establishment. Everything from the linens, duvet, extra plush towels, decor, cleanliness, mini-fridge, coffee maker in the room, beautiful hefty home-made breakfast was exquisite. Donna-Lynn was kind enough to share one of her recipe’s with me. Their breakfast spread was beautifully set, the coffee was delicious, and the food was plentiful. It is hard to find such service and location in the area, this is a stand-out property! They back onto a beautiful pebbled beach, and are a 10 minute drive from downtown Baddeck. Donna-Lynn went out of her way and sent me several emails with restaurant and evening entertainment options, before we arrived. They would go out of their way for any of their guests to ensure they have the best possible stay and trip in the area. Keep in mind, most places close fairly early. We did not mind spending most of the evening at the Best & Breakfast, it was comfortable and relaxing, and has beautiful views. We had the opportunity to meet some of the other guests as we shared a drink with the other guests and our hosts before my husband and I retired for the evening. We felt like we were visiting friends. I can't say enough great things about this Bed & Breakfast! Thank you for a wonderful time!

We have travelled quite extensively globally and I would put The Luckenbooth B&B right up their with the best of everywhere! It is a very well appointed, classy home with very large guest rooms. Donna-Lynne and Gary are exceptional hosts and cook wonderful breakfasts. They have a lot of local knowledge, which they are very happy to share and support local artisans for sure. They have anticipated your every need, and most definitely go that extra step for you. We will most definitely stay there again when we come back to Cape Breton. They have even been befriended by a few local foxes - yes the four legged kind! This is definitely deserves an 11 out of 10.

Recently re-opened under new ownership. Gary and Donna Lynn were more than accommodating. Went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Updated decor and clean, fresh feel in the rooms and in the common areas. Breakfast was big with several options.
