The hotel is old and dated (tired), Our children had a family room and we had a double. Our double was very small and very dated but also spotless and very clean and that was the most important thing for us. It is defiantly a stop over hotel and nothing more. The restaurant was good but the two waitresses were...

We went back to this restaurant after a long gap and there is a new chef and team The meal was very good and excellent value. The serving staff were charming and helpful. However, the chef Stephane was unusually abrasive and difficult to deal with. In our large group was a vegetarian (threatening gesture), a person allergic to gluten (2...

Recommended by our hotel hosts for good food and value, we were not disappointed. Varied menu combining usual French fare plus local "Charentaise" specialities. Even though quite far inland the fish menu is good. Check out the Charente Chowder very rustic mixture of fresh seafood in creamy soup laced with the local Pineau! Just off the main Route Nationale so...

We didn't stay here but had lunch with friends in the very nice restaurant with a good menu. The staff are lovely and the menu is varied to cover fish & meat. We were presented with an amuse bouche but I have a mushroom allergy, and couldn't eat it. No alternative was offered which was bit of a shame and...

We stayed just one night on the way back to Paris and whilst not the type of village you would spend your holidays in,this was a great stopover hotel. The room was big with separate toilet to bathroom and a huge bath to soak away the stress of a long drive.Parking was right out the front, the restaraunt was great and...

Nice hotel, rooms a little dated but clean and comfortable. Lovely garden and outside eating area. Breakfast typical French style, cereals, fruit, croissants, baguettes, jam etc. Fresh tea and coffee. The highlight was our meal in the restaurant, food was excellent but service only ok, we were the last to dine on the evening and although it wasn't very late,...

We stayed here last week and it was very much out of season (late October 2013). The proprietor Stephane (Karen is no longer in evidence) is very helpful speaks English and is a very...

Stefane, the co-owner of this perfectly-run hotel-restaurant, was most helpful as well as friendly. A chef, he personally goes to market for the ingredients of the hotel's elegantly- presented dinners and lunches. Our room and en suite bath were immaculate and our room, with an antique walnut bed, overlooked the garden-patio. The building seems to be an old boutique hotel....
