Wanted to splash out and try our hand at glamping as our last intrepid camping experience wasnt so relaxing. The eco aspect is awesome, wood burning for hot water and bucket showers etc. Stayed 3 nights and the wardens were real helpful and the bell tents kitted out well and tidy. Felt nice and secluded in the woods with the...

We had a brilliant time here with a big group of friends. The site is very well maintained, the wardens are great and very friendly and truly all the equipment you need is provided. ( maybe take extra torches as it is v dark). Wonderful back to nature cooking on fire pits and kids running free and safe in the...

This place is wonderful! We had a four night stay with our two boys (almost 4 & 8) and it couldn't have been better! The place is beautiful, the facilities (tents included) are great and the camp wardens are so much more than that! They are lovely hosts and our children just adored them!! If you are looking for a...

This is a hidden gem. It's in the middle of beautiful woodland, completely off grid, and is a place where you can just completely switch off (quite literally). It's magical at night - very dark and completely silent. Amy and Pete were great - explained everything very clearly to us and were always happy to help. My daughter and I...

Had a lovely couple of days at this campsite. Everything on the list was provided and all good quality. Plenty of space in the tent for 2 adults and 1 child. Loads of space around the tent for just us to enjoy and cook and eat. We could also build a den in our 'pitch' as we were in a...

I came here a few nights ago with a friend and our 3 kids, just for one night, and we had such a great time! The tent and everything that came with it was really good and well thought out and the woods gorgeous. Helpful wardens who even came to our rescue when we realized we had forgotten those all...

I've been to ALOT of campsites and this is my favourite one by far. We stayed for 4 nights. We have two small children so being able to relax knowing they are playing safely is vital. Its a small enough woodland that they could never get lost and we can give them so much more freedom here than we can...

We are very much glampers, not campers and this wild campsite is perfect. Pete and Amy the wardens do a brilliant job of looking after you. We had a fire twice a day and the kids felt like they were camping, we used the bucket shower and ate outside, but slept on comfy beds with duvets :) We would definitely...

A unique and fantastic trip all round. My children were able to explore the grounds freely and watch the steam train pass throughout the day. Showering outdoors looking out through the hatch over the countryside was an experience i will never expect. The grounds were kept clean and tidy, regular hot water was made available and each Bell tent had...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Wild Boar Wood Campsite offers campers real off-grid woodland camping in our pre-erected Bell Tents. (For tent pitches and more bell tents please go to our Beech Estate Woodland Campsite page) The nine fully equipped Bell Tents are set in a beautiful campsite with open campfires, within a five acre bluebell wood in the heart of Sussex. Our woodland campsite is located in the High Weald, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Bell Tents offer a unique, off-grid, holiday 'eco-camping' experience and are set apart in the trees giving solitude and privacy from the outside world. The camp is located in West Sussex near Haywards Heath, close to London, Brighton and Ashdown Forest. Wild Boar Wood Campsite offers an opportunity to camp side by side with nature, whilst enjoying the comfort of our tents, with beds, cooking equipment, open fire bbq grill and a firewood allocation. It's off-grid camping made easy! We prefer not to label our fully equipped bell tents as "glamping" as we have no butler service, silk sheets or hot tubs. Rather we provide a real camping experience made easy, with just about all the camping equipment you should need, all set-up and waiting for you in a lovely campsite in the woods. We have a permanent warden onsite to assist our campers at all times. The campsite is ideal for families and groups, to reconnect and renew friendships, or chat with fellow campers around the campfire. Full campsite bookings are also available for that special celebration. The two 'faraway' tents offer a more secluded option, tucked away from the main campsite, for couples and families wanting their own space. Wild Boar Wood and its surrounding 40 acre field teem with wildlife; birds, butterflies, deer, rabbit, hedgehogs and foxes make their homes in the field, hedgerows and woodland. Close by the woodland campsite, the River Ouse meanders through the countryside, offering delightful and scenic walks along its banks to the welcoming local hostelries. The peace and tranquillity is interrupted only by the historic and spectacular Bluebell Railway locomotives as they occasionally thunder past the edge of the woodland campsite! We operate a small scale quiet, relaxed and laid back campsite. We don't allow amplified music and have a low noise policy from 10 pm in the evenings. Dogs are not allowed to protect the native flora and fauna. We have an area for car parking which is a walk away across the field. Cars may not be driven to your pitch. We aim to provide camping in the woods not in a car park. Wheelbarrows are provided to move your equipment to the pitch (and the warden will assist if you need it). It may be a 5 minute walk - but it's worth it once you set up not to have cars in the campsite. Much safer for children as well! As we state we don't offer "Glamping" in our Bell Tents - but rather a real, off-grid camping experience in the woods. The local Council, as part of our permission to operate within the woods in an AONB, dictates our site facilities, their size, our infrastructure and the amenities we may offer. Keeping every item we provide in our bell tents in mint condition in a woodland is difficult. Using resources for their full lifespan is our ethos and a necessary practise in our small business. We endeavour to provide clean, practical equipment and facilities, within the confines of our planning permission and the environment in which we operate. ... more   less
