There is no longer Hostal El Alfarero, but it has a new name: Hostal eMeritae. I need to cancel a reservation there for this October, which was done through their website via box.o2cworld.com. This web service does not function properly, so I am unable to cancel the reservation. I have asked the hotel for help, but they will only send...

Ideal location for exploring Merida - right in the heart of the old town within minutes walk of all the attractions. Staff are very helpful, and the accommodation is comfortable and clean. The decor is enhanced by ceramic art by local artists. Avoid room 7 if you are likely to be kept awake by the drinks machine in the patio.

El Alfarero was a surprise to us: it was very brightly decorated, light and easily accessible to all parts of the small city. What astounded us is the Roman Ruins a half block away on the same street. We shared a bathroom on the third floor but it was not so terribly inconvenient as only another older couple was also...

Agree with previous reviewer. Clean, tidy hotel with helpful staff. Parking a bit tricky to work out, but make sure you get the parking ticket at Cerventes stamped by the hotel and you will only pay €8 per day. Also found nearby food poor, but faired better next to the food market where the tapas was good. Beautiful city, worthy...

This moderately priced hotel is really just minutes away from what you need in Merida -- the Museum, Roman Theatre, Ampitheatre, Plaza de Espana etc. Good value for money. Well maintained rooms, with perhaps the only negative being a rather sophisticated shower console that does not function too well (not just my room -- my friend had the same problem...

We stayed in one of the lower-priced rooms on the top floor--one without an attached bathroom. The room was okay, though it had half-height windows to the interior hallway/staircase and things could be a bit loud. Good shared bath with nice strong water pressure. No breakfast room in the hostal, but we were given a coupon to a local cafe for...

We ended up staying at the Alfarero much longer than we originally planned because my luggage had been lost and so we stayed behind until it caught up with us. The rooms were simple but very clean and well maintained. Alfarero means "potter" and there is a lot of handmade pottery incorporated into the decor, from the washbasin in our...

I tried to book the Hostel on line but there was no reply so after several days I phoned them. Why they ask you to contact them by email then ignore you I cannot say, but it is frustrating. My 2 nights there were fine, the double room o.k. for one person, a little cramped perhaps for 2, but clean...

The most noteworthy thing about El Alfarero is its decor. Someone with an eye for design did a good job with the place, and it lends it an attractive air. Our double room was clean and fairly spacious, and though we were concerned about noise (since it was right next to the front desk), it turned out to be quiet...

“Even though there is no lift, ask for the third floor, the one with windows! The street floor rooms have windows to the outside and it can get a bit noisy on weekends. Also, some bottom rooms have windows facing the reception area, a bare 4 or 5 feet away! :)”
