The kitchen was particularly well-appointed, making it easy to prepare meals. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was massive, featuring a powerful shower and a jacuzzi bath, with lovely toiletries to boot. While the apartment was a bit of a walk from the main building, it was easily accessible and well-located near the front of the hotel. We are also close to the pool and enjoyed a daily dip in the huge ‘top’ pool. We also enjoyed the gym, which is small but had everything we need.
Small thing, but the TV had all UK channels, which was brilliant for us for our downtime.
Evenings were spent at the nearby marina and Jaxx, a cozy little café and bakery around the corner in the Old Village, which we highly recommend and has a super-cheap happy hour or two! Jafers supermarket is also a short walk away and has literally everything you need in it.
The hotel staff were warm, friendly, and always approachable, adding to the overall positive atmosphere.
If there was one area that could be improved, it would be the breakfast. While not the best we’ve had at a hotel, it was perfectly adequate and didn’t take away from our overall enjoyment.
In short, we absolutely loved our time at the Four Seasons Vilamoura. The accommodation - especially our apartment - was flawless, and the location was ideal. We lived walking everywhere - every day up and down the hill, to Quarteira and the marina. Ubers are super cheap, though. It’s around €4-5 back to the hotel from the marina.
We enjoyed Marufo 1 at one end of the spectrum and the Thai Beach Club at the other! The former is no frills but delicious and cheap and the latter is where the cool crowd go. Sunday afternoons are an experience and a half, if you can get a reservation. Book it when you book the hotel, is my advice!
We wouldn’t hesitate to return to the Four Seasons (they even offered to post my partner’s hoodie to him that he left behind) and can’t recommend it highly enough!
Thank you for your part in our perfect trip, Four Seasons! 🫶🏻
Sorry I don’t catch the other girls name. Rooms cleaned every day and the grounds were spotless. It’s perfect for families everyone we met were just lovely staff and guests. Well done four seasons and thank you
We found the food choice limited and quite expensive, which quickly lead to us going out of the complex for our meals and clearly we were not the only ones. There is a small shop nearby where you can buy the essentials so we could not help thinking that the complex is missing a trick.
The gym was extremely well presented with good kit but it would’ve been even better if it opened earlier in the day, 7am for example.
There is a small pool bar for drinks and snacks with one staff member and I am sure if there was pool service they could improve sales, especially as they have just moved to a cashless payment model.
As mentioned the staff were excellent however whilst here we witnessed a couple of incidents by the pool. The first one came about following a one off endorsement of the no reservation of sun beds policy, which I fully endorse. One family put all 5 towels out first thing the pool staff politely put a notice out to remind of the policy then after another hour they folded the towels up. The sunbeds were then occupied and the original people turned up at 1:30pm demanding their sunbeds. There were no staff around to enforce reason and the guests were left to “fight it out.”
No staff were around on other days to keep the momentum so as guests changed so did the rules. On the whole it was ok though.
More very sensible rules for the big “adult” pool were no inflatables and diving or ball games. This was politely endorsed until one very arrogant father told his teen sons to carry on as they wished, and this lead to all users of the adult pool unable to swim because the small game turned into a full water polo game with teens diving in and making a real nuisance of themselves. The staff should have stepped in.
We booked a boat excursion from the Marina to see the Benagil caves. It was really good and well worth it. We wanted to use the tourist land train to see some sights on the way down to the marina but after waiting half an hour we chose to flag down a taxi as it did not arrive.
Would I go back? Yes definitely. But my teenage kids were bored once the novelty of the sun and pool wore off.

However lots of positives. The staff are outstanding. The waiters are particularly friendly and professional but every member of staff goes out of their way to do whatever they can to make your holiday perfect. The managers/reception staff even responded to my many questions on email before our arrival with flexibility and helpfulness.
The food was excellent. I am glad they allowed us to use the grill menu as a fallback for a few nights as some were definitely better than others. The breakfast isn’t huge in choice but all the key ingredients are there and regularly topped up. Some specialty breads to put on the toaster would be a nice addition.
The new chef is certainly working hard and is receptive to feedback. A few crackers for the cheese would be good. If u like deserts, these are exceptional. Don’t be put off by the small salad type dishes, they may be small but they are imaginative and very tasty.
All the staff are excellent including a waiter who is relatively new but is a great addition to the team he Sanjog Gurong.
We had a studio this time which was more than adequate tho the verandas are very small.
The location of this hotel works for us as we like a walk to the marina (about 20 mins) but there is a supermarket and a few cafes and bars in the Old Village nearby and which is very pretty. The area is peaceful which we like.
The Four Seasons gardens etc are extremely well kept.
We had friends join us one night and the staff went out of their way as always to give great service. It’s a great hotel all round but without a doubt it’s the staff who make it special. If the kitchens, bathrooms and wifi were brought up to a more modern standard this hotel would definitely get 5 stars from me.
We have several issues with our apartment:
The dressing gowns are fraying with missing loops, so the ties are always loose.
The kitchen is very dated, with poor fitting appliances, however, there is a modern toaster and kettle.
The washing machine and drier are in a cupboard, when the cupboard door is opened, the drier tilts forwards, as it is perched on top of the washing machine and being held in place by the cupboard door.
There is a terrible smell of drains in the bathroom, not constantly, but often during the evening and night.
The bathroom is very dated.
The mosquito screen door is very old and needs a very strong person to open and close it.
On a positive note:
The pool areas are very nice and clean with plenty of umbrellas for shade.
The resort is in a nice quiet area in the old village.

This time it was bedroom improvements and how good they looked with virtually new everything, smart and chic.
Also at the main entrance a new sign to welcome everyone.
The welcome from the staff was great as was the service and everyone now used to a cashless bar and restaurant, simple enough just double check before paying.
The food again was excellent a bit pricey but quality IMO and the Bistro is a great place to eat close to the bar and entertainment.
So the week flew by and before we knew it we were packing again but we have the next visit not too far away to look forward to.
Enjoy the setting, the ambience, the friendliness of the staff and members alike, enjoy the resort facilities and your home from home apartment, its all there, its all good.
The staff were lovely though.
The rooms were tired and some smelt musty but they are well equipped. The two rooms I went in all had kettles, toasters, juicers, fridges, cookers, crockery, robes, toiletries, hairdryers and pool towels to name but a new items. There is also a small shop within walking distance of the hotel which was handy for water and snacks.
We did not take the train down to the marina because it was €6 each and an Uber was €4. My top tip would be to down load the Uber app. Also, get an Uber from the airport as its the cheapest way.
We had a great time at the hotel.
The pool area was slippery. One girl fell over / collapsed and hit her head. She was out cold. The staff should have kept her in recovery and sought professional help. Instead they gave her water and compressed her head. This was wrong. I have no idea what happened to her but the staff need more first aid training. Hence why I have given it a 3*.
Lots of mozzies so take a plug in or spray.
