Have been staying at Crystal Beach for a number of years. It's an older campground and the owners are working hard to modernize and improve. The wifi is very good now. Travelers have told us how much they appreciate the reasonable fees. If you have young children, you can't beat the pool and splashpad. Crystal Beach is our home away from home every summer.

This was a pleasant campground with the awesome sunsets. Convenient base to explore the western 2/3 of Prince Edward Island. Please note that while we did not see any Good Sam signs they offer the Good Sam 10% discount which is always a help! He directed us to our Site, C-13 which is a waterfront pull-through with an unobstructed view (except for about a 3' high sea wall). We did not request a waterfront site so we were very pleased with our assigned site. This site along with about 10 others appeared to be newly constructed or newly reconstructed. Stoned, level lot with a recently sodded yard. New utilities including 50 Amp service with water and sewer. Sewer slanted and at ground level permitting easy gravity flow which for some reason seems difficult to find. Fairly busy over the weekend lots of kids but not bothersome in the least. Fairy quiet even with the playground less than 100' away. Laundry clean with new or relatively new washers and dryers, wife was pleased with the condition of the laundry as well as the capacity of the equipment. Bath rooms were tiled, obviously updated in the past few years and fairly clean for early evening. They have a pool, splash park and play ground. Splash park is free contrary to what I read in an old review. So, in short we enjoyed our stay, would definitely stay here again and recommend this camp ground to seniors (like us) as well as families with kids. The kids seemed to really love the amenities provided just for them!

The location is awesome, but the weather can be unpredictable and unforgiving, both for RV'ers and the campsite owner. We pre-booked a 50A oceanside pull-thru site about two months in advance, but due to unforgiving rain, the owner had to switch us last minute to a 30A grassy site instead. PROS: - Friendly service, both from front desk, and from the owner who personally stopped by to check on us twice. - Nice mixture of shaded/open sites, suitable for RVs and tenting. The shaded sites were away from the ocean. - Grounds were clean, and grassy areas were freshly mowed. - Oceanside sites offer beautiful sunsets, and the natural sights/smells of the ocean. With appropriate wet beach shoes, people can walk well out into the shallows to explore. - Kid playground and pool. - Free WiFi, albeit hard to access at times. - Neighbouring campers were all friendly, family oriented, and respectful. - Solid reliable 30A electric and good water pressure (eg: for showers). - Good central location on PEI for sightseeing. CONS: - The new 50A oceanside sites looked pristine and had gravel pads with newly laid sod (we give full credit to the owner for investing in their property!). Unfortunately, due to the heavy rains, these sites weren't available to us. - The 30A site assigned to us a week before arrival was very narrow, difficult to back into, 100% grass, and with the rains, was wet/sponge-like when we first parked. We were worried we'd leave tire marks/grooves in the grass when parking (switched to 4x4 on truck and pulled straight in from behind to leave no marks), and even with all the feet/stabilizers down, the trailer still moved with people/wind. - The oceanside sites are fully exposed with no shade or wind breaks. On the last night of our stay, it was so stormy/windy that we had to retract the rooms on the windward side of our trailer to protect the slide toppers from ripping. The wind was strong enough to shake a 32' fifth wheel trailer, and would test the limits of tents/pop-up tent trailers. - Garbage drop off is at the front of the park (long walk). - Firepit at our site was in an awkward location (within inches of a second sewer pipe that was also located at the front of the site). All told, we enjoyed our stay, and we really appreciated the personal service from the owner.

We were here from July 5th-8th, 2019. We had reserved our spot and requested a specific site, they said no problem, as that's where we were going to put you. We thought great! When we got there, they gave away our site and put us in a different spot, Wifi wasn't working and the splash pad wasn't operating. We went during the CBMF weekend, so our neighbors partied ALL night!!! We tried to call at the office, but they did not have a number for their office. My husband went down the next day at 9am, as that's when they open, to complain. They said they have security and that's the reason for no phone number is required. We never saw anyone patrolling the sites at all. They said they were going to talk to them. They spoke to them and they were more quieter that Saturday Night, however, it was raining hard so that is probably the reason why they were quiet. Sunday night, again, no patrolling was done, and our wonderful neighbors partied ALL night AGAIN! We were leaving monday morning so we just didn't bother with another complaint as what would have they done? Nothing! Will we go back to this campground, no way! The lots are so close to one another. We couldn't wait to leave!

If you are an RV owner, and you enjoy being glued to the RV next to you, then perhaps you will find this campground to your liking. We like to camp with a tent, and while there are plenty of RV spots along the water's edge (very tightly packed together), the 'tent' area is located at the back of the site, and in a rather wet and swampy area. Not a great place to pitch a tent, and after having moved around a few times, we finally settled on a spot on the other side of the bog as far away from the bugs as possible. This campground needs some work - washrooms are very old an rusty, loads of potholes, and there is no beach to speak of - but we stayed four nights, even during a torrential storm that lasted 13 hours. My biggest complaint were our neighbors - a very loud boisterous group who would not stop partying until 3 am. Since there was not a sole around the 'tent' area, we could not complain to the campground management about our noisy neighbors. Whatever rules were posted about noise reduction, clearly this group had no respect for anyone trying to sleep. In the end, I think there are better places to pitch a tent in PEI. Note: we did visit a few others to compare and it seems that all the campgrounds we saw (provincial and local) like to pack em in as tightly as possible.
