We found this place in the summer of 2006 and knew then we would be coming back, maybe even every year! We stayed again this year and hope to be back next year.

The owners are amazing. Thelma even drove my husband to the golf course to meet his friend!

The views are spectacular! Overlooks Rustico Bay and the River Clyde. You can see the lighthouse at North Rustico and the farms of Anglo Rustico.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom detached cottage with 1 bathroom. The master bedroom had a comfortable queen (I slept so well!) and the other bedroom had a double/queen and a twin. There was also a pull-out sofa in the living room which we didn't use. The living room / dining room / kitchen was spacious enough for 2 adults and 2 children but may be crowded with more than 4 people. There was table in the kitchen / dining room with 4 chairs. The TV had a DVD / VCR and it could be rotated to be viewed from the kitchen or dining area or living room. The kitchen had a stove / oven, fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker. There was no dishwasher. Dishes, utensils, and cooking stuff were all supplied, including sponges and dishwasher liquid. There was even salt, pepper, coffee filters, and sugar for coffee. You could go to the offiice for lobster pots and crackers. The deck was private and had a BBQ and a table with 4 chairs plus a rocking chair. We had young kids (3.5 and 2) and Thelma put us overlooking the playground which was so great since the kids could play and we could sit out on the deck or make supper in the cottage.

The property has coin-operated laundry, heated outdoor pool, hot tub, kiddies pool, playground, hammock, adrinodack chairs, a waterfront arbour with wood stoves and wood provided. The cottages overlook a lovely wildflower meadow and then further overlooks Rusico Bay. There are also canoes and tricycles and bikes available. There are books, videos, and DVDs that can be borrowed and there is also tourist brochures on-site. Note that although you have access to the water, the property is not on a typical beach with sand - it is more of a wet densely-packed sand. You can go mussel / clam digging though.

My only issue was no phone in the cottage which didn't bother us last time. This time we had friends who overlapped with us for two days who were staying elsewhere, so a phone in the cottage would've been nice, but I guess that's what cell phones are for!

Rusticoville is about 10 mins drive from Cavendish and all of the attractions there. I highly recommend the beach at North Rustico (in PEI National Park). It doesn't have the amenities of Cavendish (canteen), but it does have supervised swimming and washrooms. The sand is nicer and the water is shallower and warmer and it is less crowded.

Even though Blue Crest is not in Cavendish, I thought it was nice to be a tad out of the way, away from the busy-ness. Also it is close to North Rustico which has two grocery stores, a lovely bakery and a great fish market.

We hope to stay again in 2008!

I love Blue Crest cottages and have been visiting since childhood! Cute little 1 or 2-bedroom cottages with a full working kitchen, living room, and bathroom. WIFI available complimentary. Everything you need to cook your own meals and clean up after yourself is in each cottage. They each feature a nice deck, with a BBQ and chairs, and an ocean view over the field. Onsite there is also a swimming pool, hot tub, play ground, outdoor fire pit, and a trail leading down to the water edge with canoes and kayaks to paddle about. It is incredibly close to Cavendish, and Rustico, and only a short drive away from Charlottetown and Brackley Beach. Really excellent quality and ammenities for very low prices!!

I found Blue Crest in 2005 after the location I normally stayed at closed and sold the cottages. I had not seen the Blue Crest Cottages interiors but knew the view that they held so booked my stay that year. This summer will make year 9 staying at Blue Crest Cottages and it's no longer a vacation rental, it's like going home to family. Thelma and Michelle, our hosts, keep the cottages and the gounds in beautiful condition. I usually book a 2 bedroom cottage but all are well equipped for anything you need in the kitchen with many creature comforts: cable tv (for those rainy, indoor days), air conditioning, wifi for those that want to stay connected and a super bonus of a National Park Pass (I used this everyday over my 10 day stay which was a HUGE savings!). Of course, the one pup welcoming committee named Blue makes sure you know that Blue Crest is pet friendly!
Over the years, I have recommended Blue Crest to other friends who have come away delighted with their experience. Only 4 months til I return to my Blue Crest "home".

Stuck in the 1980s. Housekeeping cottage and you clean before you leave which is normal but I wonder if the cottage is ever professionally deep cleaned? Needs serious updating- caulk in bathroom is gross. Needs basic linens- like a bath mat. Hair dryer did not work and obviously dirty.
Mattresses are extremely old , so are the linens which leaves me suspicious. No instructions to tv. I’ve stayed in better at the same price point so that’s sad.

Kitchen has everything you need. It’s a great location with a grocery store a mile away. Excellent location and the cottages sit in a huge piece of land that is pretty. Family friendly for sure!
Very friendly staff but a bit of a language barrier.

Fantastically clean and well equipped this cottage provides everything you will need for a perfect home away from home. All you need to bring is your food and toothbrush. So much peace and pleasure at a reasonable price, it's easy to agree with the guest book entries of other tourists who say they come back each year. We sincerely hope the new owners keep up this excellent standard.

I drove out to Prince Edward Island this summer and rented this cabin by the sea. Words are hard to describe the feelings of rapture I experienced in the magical land known for its red sand beaches, fiddle music, home town potatoes, plentiful seafood and the kindest people anywhere in the world.
The Blue Crest cabins are centrally located in North Rustico, and features a hot tub, swimming pool, canoe for the inlet to the ocean and a bonfire pit for a cool evening drink or two.
Close to everything, shopping, restaurants, celideh’s and The Blue Mussel cafe, these cabins are perfect for a quiet getaway from mainland chaos. And if there is anything you need, just ask Rose and Daniel, the kind owners who run a very relaxed and tight ship. Thoroughly recommended stay on your east coast adventure. Just make sure you book long enough, as you’ll never want to leave!

Buford.

Not a bad place to stay. It wasn’t far from anything and the cottage was clean and well kept. There was a hot tub and pool accessible but we didn’t use them. The wifi was only okay. The cottage had cookwear and dishes in the little kitchenette. The place is a bit dated. The bed though, was my biggest issue. Unless you really like a firm bed. My lower back is not happy after a few nights on that dinosaur. The area was quiet and the view was nice.

We absolutely LOVED this place. I've seen some of the other reviews here, which give poor ratings, but honestly, that wasn't our experience at all so I'm not sure what's going on there. We rented Cottage B, it had two good sized bedrooms (one King size bed in one room, the other room has two doubles or twins, I can't usually tell the difference), a large living/dining room with a pull-out couch, a good sized kitchen with stove/oven/large refrigerator/freezer, and a private toilet and shower and sink. The view is AMAZING, you have a large porch with comfy, cool chairs and a little table so you can sit outside and sip tea/hot chocolate/coffee and watch the ocean.

There's a TV with cable inside, and a pull-out couch, so there are four beds in Cottage B The cottages all have rustic wood paneling, giving the place a warm, cozy feeling. There's a large table with four chairs, and you can eat your meals in front of the window taking in the view. The beach is a two minute walk just across the small access road. The grounds have a large grassy area for kids to play on and there's a little jungle-gym type thing for them as well - there's also a basketball hoop. I honestly don't remember anything about a pool, however, I wasn't interested in a pool, I went to the beach, so I didn't inquire or pay attention.

One person mentions having to clean their own cottage ---- WHAT? This is not true, you don't have to clean your own place and there is no charge if you don't - they have housekeeping. I believe there is something about the possibility of being charged a damage fee, if the place is damaged, so perhaps that was the confusion??? At any rate, I only cleaned up after myself in the polite way, I didn't houseclean, and I certainly wasn't charge a fee.

The cottage was in perfect condition. There is also an A/C. The staff/owners were all perfectly lovely and very helpful. I stayed here with my teenage son and he loved it as much as I did. We will most definitely be staying here again. =) - Brandy

The cottage was very dated, which wasn't the biggest deal, as we were only staying here one night. What I found most irritating were the policies, specifically the fact that check out is 10am sharp!!! The other thing that kind of irked me, was that you are expected to clean your own room before departing (or be pay an additional $25 dollars). This included: washing your dishes, sweeping and vacuuming, putting your towels in the laundry or bathtub, and taking the garbage and recycling out... This is a lot to ask at 9:30 in the morning, especially when you are paying $155 bucks to stay there.

We were very pleasantly surprised by Blue Crest. The cottage we stayed in was very clean and well-stocked. The only reason for the four stars was a problem with hot water. We were only able to have one good shower before the water turned cold. Otherwise, great place.
