Hidden beyond the narrow, winding streets of Bharatgarh, this 'heritage homestay' will surprise and please travelers, especially those weary of the 'incredible' chaos of Indian roads. If you like fresh, organic homemade fare, mountain views, birdsong, friendly & easy-to-talk-to hosts, then you will love his place. It's close to Ropar and a bit further on to Chandigarh, but the hosts...

We have had a wonderful 2 night stay in the fort home of Deepender and his wife Maninder. We booked directly with our hosts-prompt replies and their direct phone numbers to call them for directions en route. The fort is on the edge of the village of Bharatpur, a short walk in one direction to the canal and in the...

We stayed at Bharatgarh fort on our way to Tirthan valley. The idea was to break our journey exactly midway. I found this place through a blog I think or trip advisor, can't recall. It's not advertised much. The estate belongs to a Sikh royal family, now inherited and run by the son and DIL (Mrs Kaur). It's straight out...

We had booked just one night at Fort Bharatgarh while on an extended holiday after our Kashmir visit. The booking was by email and I did an online transfer for the advance. Our host Sardarni Maninder Kaur was meticulous in helping us with information. But I was still skeptical of what to expect.... We landed in hot Chandigarh from cool...

We were travelling to Chandigarh & were looking out for a homestay but we couldn't find any options. The only options available were typical hotels. Then, we saw this place and seeing the reviews we booked this for our stay. I was travelling with my family. The approach road & the exteriors of the fort made us feel a little...

We had booked this place after reading the reviews on tripadvisor, and once we reached the fort, the approach road and the exteriors of the fort spooked us completely. It was then that our gracious host Mrs. Maninder Kaur came to our rescue, and made us feel comfortable. She showed us our room and the surrounding and made sure we...

I have stayed at the fort twice and both times it has been memorable, coming from the UK its a big contrast. The hosts are great, the place is lovely and the surroundings are so tranquil, that its hard to believe that one is so close to the city. The fort takes you back in time, with its majestic walls...

I stayed one night here with a couple of my buddies from High School. We each got a room and arrived mid afternoon. The hosts were very gracious and gave us tea and the rooms were very clean and the view of the village almost serene. Food and drinks were excellent and we were given a short tour of the...

Great hospitality, super food. Very clean and well maintained heritage home stay. The owners made the stay even more warm and comfortable. Best part is proximity from chandigarh. It is just 1.15 hours away. A great getaway for a weekend. Will visit this place as often as I can :)

“The converted portion of the fort has 3 rooms up a set of stairs from the main entry and separate from where the family continues to reside. There are additional rooms there for groups which we didn't see. All the rooms have different charm. The top room has access to the veranda and is quite spacious. The 2 rooms on the first level open up to the small sitting and dining area. You can't go wrong with any of the rooms. Heaters are provided during the winter months.”
