Simple, good food - fresh fish, crunchy chips and local ( very local) beer.

A quiet place with a good location on the water and a nice balcony to sit out on.

Not fancy, but reliably good food, with good service.

My room appeared to be in disrepair. The place is extremely dated, lack of electrical outlets & washroom in desperate need of renos. Price kind of made up for the ill shape of the room. Stayed there several years ago & nothing has changed. Same staff & strangely the exact same tenants.

Initally we were wondering- restauraunt seems like the main attraction of workers in area. Parking lot was noisey but quickly quieted down. Clean rooms. Had a restaurant attached. Next door is a gas station - they sell ice if needed for coolers. The owner cooked breakfast in the restaurant- many regulars from the area in the restaraunt who helped themselves to coffee. Seating out side on the water from the restaurant.

It was getting onto mid-afternoon and the hunger pangs were nibbling. The Fairwinds Motel & Restaurant looked a likely source of sustenance, and so it proved to be. The first thing I noticed was the dessert special board with Pecan Pie among the offerings. Our friendly server took our order for one serving of two pieces of fish and chips and a piece of pecan pie - to be shared between my wife and I.

Our fish and chips arrived very soon and the dish had already been divided onto two plates for us. The fish and chips and the pecan pie were very pleasing indeed! On enquiry we were told that the fish was haddock. Yum! Yum! The coffee was good too.

We highly recommend this establishment for its friendly helpful service and delicious food at very reasonable prices..

I recently stayed at the Fairwinds and what a dive. Everything is outdated, dirty, broken, smelled musty, very disappointed. The walls have all these notes taped to the walls (how tacky). The bed covers were torn. Dead bugs on floor. Leaky toilet. Hairs on floor. Curtains in shambles.Towel rack fell apart when I grabbed for a towel. Even the tv was filthy. Not to mention the water is tainted and they have signs that the water is dangerous to drink which made me so paranoid to even open my mouth in the shower. $115 wasted. Do not stay here!!! And I bet the conditions in their kitchen are even worse. Yuk. I should have slept in my vehicle.

The owner had the audacity to say we destroyed the room lol. I should send them a bill for cleaning it. It was absolutely disgusting. We left it in better shape then when we arrived. They may have been mad that we used a towel and they had to clean it. The floors were so dirty sheets had an awful smell lipstick on mugs. Wish we had more time to research before we stayed. The owner was rude and treats his staff awful. He should be sued. Maybe he will be......
He should be ashamed. I will absolutely pass this along and only hope it goes out of business. I can't say in words how horrified I am.
There is on the other hand an amazing amazing hotel not 10 minutes down the road with friendly accommodating owners, so clean and so beautiful marmalade hotel. Highly recommended. Please don't give this rude "man" your business.

Disgusting, filthy, overpriced rooms and very rude service from the owner. Not many options in the area, but I would advise driving right by this place. Needs a complete upgrade and much better maid service.

We had horrible service at the restaurant yesterday. First we were told to move our car, without any thanks or apology. We waited over half an hour for our mediocre food, and the waitress was terribly unfriendly. She never asked to refill our drinks and was very rude when asked to bring something she forgot. We will never return here and suggest that nobody else does either.

This hotel is over priced by far, we've paid less to stay in nice clean cottages, with ocean veiws. This hotel how ever, cost $95+tax and the floors, rugs, windows, linens, shower are all dirty, absolutly filthy. The room smells. Its too hot, and the air conditioning is not working. No ocean veiw in this room at all, small frosted window in the bathroom is in the general direction of the water, if you stand on the toilet you might catch a glimps. I here the food is good, but if the rooms are this disgusting, I can only imagen the kitchen. I'd pitch a tent on the side of the road before staying here again.

we booked a room at this hotel and miscalculated our driving time. We had to stop and stay in Sherbrooke so thought we would forfeit our visa payment. on our way the next day, we stopped in to check and the owner told us that he wouldn't charge us. we were flummoxed. we had lunch in the restaurant and it was delicious. the place is old fashioned and bright and clean. We were impressed.
