I had spent 9 glorious days at the Hacienda El Santiscal and must say that during my stay I had nothing but the best treatment by the staff. The rooms are as charming as they are impecable, clean and spacious. The Hacienda dates from the 14 handred but its adjusted to the 21 century leaving with all the amenities of...

Dear Guest: Just a few words to thank you for taking the time to write your impressions of us. For our house and when a customer has stayed so long, we can only say two things or "what joy, this client has left " or the contrary "that would reach out hopefully worth staying longer " and you're the latter,...

My father turn 60 last January. We were looking for something very very special to celebrate it, something he would never forget...the biggest surprise ever! Considering that we live in America and Asia, we were not able to go to Spain for the Celebration, so the people from El Santiscal helped us to arrange everythin: visits to the wine producers,...

The hacienda is beautiful but the lady owning it is as rude as you can imagine. We made a reservation 2 months before our stay and as we got there, she was on the phone and stayed on the phone for about 10 to 15 minutes. Then, as we were going to get our room with one double bed a...

Dear Mr. M. del P.: First of all to apologize if in any moment I can give you the impression of a rude person, but even like that, I do not think that I deserve, as a human being, the same advise that any dog at the door of a house " Beware of..." , no matter how inappropriate it...

It is just a wonderful place, peace and silence, and you feel like coming home. For us it has been a very fascinating place so we decided to marry at the Hacienda Santiscal! Everything has been perfect! Thanks again for the great organization and the effort you put in all you have done for us and our wedding.

Dear guests: Despite having been a long time have written your opinion about our services and our hotel, I did not want to leave at least to thank them for taking the trouble to do. I could not answer at the time, because that year we did not have that possibility, by not having that service contracted in this site....

We booked this hotel as part of a tour of Spain, and it was unfortunately the most disappointing hotel of all. Sad because the hotel itself is the most beautiful building, sympathetically restored and with a stunning setting next to the Embalse. Our room too was gorgeous, a "junior suite" with antique wooden furniture and a pretty white bathroom. However,...

Dear Madam: We read carefully your review and the opinions you got about our Hacienda. First of al,l to apologize if we are given to you the impression of an isolated place, but the only thing we are trying is to give our clients what they are looking for when they come here: something different from the other hotels; silence,...

The Hacienda is a listed building dated from the 1485 ( XV century) ; it is declared Historic and Singular Mansion and for that reason it is untill now a nice property with a lot of antiques " no old" elements in the decoration, such as Isabelino Sofa, terracotta fabrics, hand painted ceramics from Talavera, curve and wood ceelings, etc....

I bet this was great place at one time...but it's on its way out now.. The views are still gorgeous and the building is still something to savour, but there's a lot lacking. Billed as a 'get-away-from-it-all' type of place.....that's true .....while you're in it... It feels isolated...but...the 'burbs' are almost on the doorstep and they are not overly-pretty. The...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The very name of this exquisitely restored and noble 15th-century manor house evokes a sense of romance and adventure as profound as the Spanish Golden Age itself. The term "Santiscal" comes from a Roman country villa located in the grounds of the Hacienda that was discovered in the late nineteenth century.Story has it there was once a knight called Juan de Armario. In 1485, when Ronda was laid to siege by the Christians, he was the first to enter the mine where the moors kept all their supplies and died in the venture. As a reward for his bravery, the King granted the knight’s sons five estates at the foot of the Sierra del Santiscal mountain range, where they built what would become the family residence, today called “Hacienda El Santiscal”. This beautiful fortified building has magnificent views to the Lake and its Nature Park thanks to its strategic location. You can now enjoy it for yourself. Our countryside property is located in Arcos de la Frontera, a historic city, capital of the Route of the "Pueblos Blancos" of Cádiz (White Villages), near the Nature Park of Grazalema, declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.Arcos de la Frontera, declared a Historical Monument in 1962, is one of the prettiest towns in Spain, perched on a high rock from which hung a multitude of white houses together with a medieval castle that is testimony to the magnificent past of this romantic and legendary town which belonged to the Arab court of Medina Sidonia.Today, Hacienda El Santiscal, is a unique accomodation that has maintained the flavor of yesteryear in its walls with the conforts of today, without losing the charm of the old manor houses, as has successfully adapted to the new times in order to become a green hotel, as they credited the two quality labels obtained in 2011, the spanish "Parque Natural de Andalucía" y the european one "ECEAT". ... more   less
