Nice size room, comfy bed, free wifi, free parking, good included breakfast. Roomservice could pay a bit more attention to details. Super friendly hotel boss, who does most of the interaction with the clients personally and himself.

The room in this Hotel was very ordinary, nothing special. However we did have dinner in their Restaurant and I could "rave" about this dinner. We ordered Steak which was large and perfectly cooked " melt in your mouth" , the large salad with pork fillet was beautiful and huge. There was a nice atmosphere in the restaurant and the... More

The hotel is 1km uphill from the Rhine. We arrived in the rain to find the hotel closed and in darkness with a note to ring... More

I didn´t expect much more than an unexpensive place to stay in order to explore neighboring Switzerland (Stein am Rhein and Rhine falls). Switzerland is overpriced. But this place surprised me. Simple, cozy, with a friendly atmosphere. The village is small, calm, good for relaxing. So,... More

My wife and I stayed two nights at Gasthof Hirschen in early June 2012. Gailingen is a very small German village located on the north side of the Rhine River a few miles east of Schaffhausen, Switzerland. A few miles further east is the scenic village of Stein am Rhine, Switzerland, a popular tourist destination. Gailingen is most easily reached... More
