Detailed Reviews
Bancroft campground is my favorite place to go camping! I love the fact that it was at one time a K.O.A. and it brings back many memories of the joy of getting close to nature. This is a great campground, thanks for the experience! Stephen

Pleasantly surprised. I was on a trial adventure on the Motorcycle. To see what a 2 day trip including camping would be like. Rather than take a chance on the sideroads I decided to try an established campground. The fee was 1/2 that of the Provincial Parks and my site was well away from all family activities. Under the Pine trees with lots of space. The site was nice and big . Had its own picnic table and firepit with loads of dry wood around. There were very few bugs and 11pm was curfew/noise. Overnight was quiet and the rain made it even more special. Great place... just off the highway far enough to think you are roughing it. I would do it again.

The Algonquin Area is prime tourist country. Finding affordable places on the weekend can be a challenge. This site is only a minute off the highway and yet feels like you are in the vast outdoors. The campsites are huge... level and all come with a picnic table and firepit with firewood. It is family run and leans more to the family with kids atmosphere.
I was on a Motorcycle trip and decided to take a chance and rough it for a night. I was on the fringe of the site and yet felt very comfortable. The people I met were all very friendly as were the proprietors..
I would go back again... Loved it. Nice and quiet... They have a noise by-law in effect which is strictly adhered to... great place.

I was trying to find somewhere that was close to home but still a getaway and after reading the website and the reviews on TripAdvisor we thought we would give it a try for 5 days. I have to say that I do not know what has happened from last year to this but we were very disappointed when we arrived.
On the website it stated that they had several planned activities for families and children, during our stay they advertised kids crafts once.
The site also stated that they had horseshoes, volleyball and badminton, all of these were in need of some TLC as the horseshoe pits were overgrown with weeds and there was no net to play volleyball or badminton.
We were enticed by the large, grassy sites to find that our 27' trailer barely fit on the site we were given and we had to park our vehicle on an angle on the side of the roadway. The pictures on the website, again are not accurate as there was no grass on our site at all.
The check-in was painful to say the least, first they could not find our reservation, made months in advance, then the computer wouldn't work and after they tinkered with it for almost 10 minutes they were able to "find us" and we paid. The next day when trying to get a wifi password, something else that did not work, they tried to charge me again for our site.
The store was cluttered and in disarray along with the main bathroom and "laundry facility". 3 out of the 6 toilets were out of order and there was no separation from the bathroom to the laundry and no folding table to be found. I don't know about anyone else but i don't feel comfortable doing my laundry in someone else bathroom.
We were told that the pool area was open from 9-9 pm but you were lucky if it was opened by 10:30 am and even luckier if it was cleaned of bugs.
The only positives I can find are that the persons owning seasonal sites were friendly and yes, the site fees for hydro, water and sewer were lower than most but perhaps this is the reason, because whomever has taken over this business doesn't seem to care about it anymore.
If you can find someplace else, go there.
