Detailed Reviews
If I could rate this a 10/5 I would. The hosts, Sharon and Alvin are unbelievably kind, generous and hilarious. We stayed in the railway containers that they have transformed into a quaint, super clean room with a breathtaking view. The location is excellent for hiking the East Coast trail. Our stay included meals. The self serve “snack shack” was stocked with every snack you could think of. They had a separate area for snacks for specific dietary restrictions (gluten, dairy, nuts). The evening meals were 5 star dining! Sharon is a gifted chef. We stayed here for 3 days and it was a highlight of our trip!

It’s difficult to know where to start. This is the ultimate destination as a hiking B&B, if such a thing exists. To begin with, our hosts, Alvin & Sharon, are the kindest people, exude the Newfoundlander charm and hospitality, and are both very knowledgeable about the area, especially with regard to the hikes of the East Coast Trail.
But the facilities are top-notch for hikers, too; you are supplied with all the necessary provisions for your hike, with every possible detail accounted for for all aspects of the day. If you can put one foot in front of the other, then do it! They’ve taken care of the rest. Amazing meals, a hot shower and boot warmer at end of day, and a hot tub for sore muscles. Yes, you could pack a tent and cook for yourself in a rainy campsite, but this is better.

This place is a work of love - love of good food, love for travelers, love for creating spaces. We visited in August as part of a longer tour, this was the best place we stayed at. The Snack Shack alone would have made it memorable - a clubhouse stocked with a huge variety of breakfast and lunch items. Thank you Sharon and Alvin.

We stayed in a sea container that was modified to have two bedrooms with ensuites! The rooms were small but very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The breakfast area for guests was incredibly well-stocked.
Sharon and Alvin were fabulous hosts and took great care of us. When we had to cancel the last part of our trip due to illness, Sharon went out of her way to help us make arrangements for our trip home.
Honestly can't say enough about their kindness and their B&B. We're looking forward to going back soon.

I took a group of women to Belle Maison for a hiking & yoga retreat at the very end of August into September. Sharon our host was ‘top drawer’, arranging our hikes and visits. Her dinners at Belle Maison were absolutely 5 star and we were all over the moon with the general experience. We met some of the locals, learned a little rug hooking and rock painting, heard a deeply moving talk, and were even treated to wild blueberry muffins from a man up the road that he baked just for us. The Avalon Peninsula is truly one of the most wonderful places I’ve been.

We all loved Belle Maison! It was a great hiking location for the Avalon Peninsula. The hospitality is beyond conception. Sharon’s evening meals and knowledge of the trails is unparalleled Alvin saved us on the hottest of hiking days. Our group of 8 endorses belle Maison without reservation. Go, stay and enjoy!!!

We started our 3 week journey of Newfoundland here at Belle Maison and it was one of the highlights of our time on the Rock. Sharon and Alvin were top notch hosts, providing amazing meals, comfortable accommodations, boot driers, and a hot tub to end the day after a hike. We highly recommend Belle Maison.

My husband and I stayed with Sharon & Alvin. Sharon has a deep knowledge of the East Coast Trail, which helped us enjoy our hiking from their inn. Sharon is a good cook and Alvin keeps the place clean & the guests entertained. The pride in the Newfoundland heritage and its history are admirable. We enjoyed our time with them!
