Overall, the stay in the Grand Hotel was OK. The room was spacious, as was the bathroom. A very nice layout. Unfortunately, the espresso machine didn't work and despite a note at reception, they were unable to replace it within 4 days, a shame! The curtains have also seen better days. They were obviously often caught in the balcony door, as you could see lots of black marks. That's a shame too, because in the "off-season" you can fix something like that.
The breakfast selection is plentiful and there's something for every taste! From homemade smoothies to egg dishes, yogurt, cheese and sausage, everything was great. Unfortunately, there wasn't really much variety (types of cheese and sausage). It was just the same day after day, a first for me in Austria! The types of bread from the local bakery are sensational. If a guest walks past the champagne/mineral water cooler three times and always finds empty bottles, that's not really up to date either.
The evening dinner is highly recommended. Top quality, excellently presented and a great selection of wines!
At the bar you have to look to see who is on duty. The qualitative differences in the alcohol content of the drinks were striking. You probably only notice this if you always drink the same spritz.
The wellness area is large and has several saunas and a swimming pool with an outdoor area. If the hotel is not fully booked or for the sake of the fixed costs, you can leave the Finnish sauna out of service; 90 degrees and the bio sauna are enough. The host's uncle, who is responsible for the infusion and the ceremony, is unique. Perfect!
Conclusion:
We are talking about a 5-star hotel here, so you expect it to be perfect. Unfortunately, this was not the case. It's a shame, it could be better! Especially when you compare it to the neighboring towns/valleys. The hotel lives from its location (also a great breakfast terrace) and the very friendly hosts. Overall, more good than very good!

Exceptional hotel on a river by a lovely old town. I stayed here for 2 nights with my husband, son and his wife. Our rooms were large and overlooking the river. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. I asked for sheets and blankets in our room as I do not like duvets and it was done immediately. There is a nice sitting area in the room and a spacious bathroom with an extremely useful 7x magnifying mirror. The toilet is closed off from the bathroom. We were provided with kettles on request. There is a nice sitting area with sofa and armchair in the room. There is no air conditioning but they provide a large fan. The room was quite warm on our first night as river facing rooms are south facing so get the sun in the afternoon. The breakfast buffet was exceptional. There were several staff replenishing constantly. As well as the buffet you could choose omelettes and other cooked eggs from a separate menu at no extra cost. The 2 evening 2 meals we had were excellent. These came with a complimentary tasty starter. The extensive spa facilities and indoor/outdoor pool are very good. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Lienz is a lovely small town and the hotel is close to the Grossglockner mountain pass. We came here after 2 days in Slovenia. We will definitely return.

This luxury hotel, with extensive wellness and swimming pools, is located on a river, a few minutes' walk from the lively city center. The welcome was warm and during our stay the employees were always very hospitable and helpful. The sunny Zeggersfeld ski area is a few minutes away by car. The hotel offers free transportation to and from the gondola. Cars can be parked in the parking garage underneath the hotel. There is also a room for skis and accessories. The hotel rooms are very spacious and comfortable, with a balcony. The breakfast is very extensive and you can also enjoy a delicious dinner in the attractive restaurant.

It is truly a grand hotel. Beautiful inside and outside, wonderful staff, very nice restaurant, and beautiful views from the river side balcony of our room. We had a corner room on the fourth floor with two doors that opened up and let in a wonderful breeze. There were upright chairs, a lounge chair, and a table on the balcony. If there’s anything they could improve upon it would be the breakfast breads and pastries, as well as providing the guests with juice instead of the guest having to juice their own oranges (which wasn’t working well).

Very friendly and welcoming staff The breakfast was really excellent and varied with good products Reception very helpful even for emergencies if something is needed in the room The pool area is very nice and well kept, perhaps every now and then it would have been nice to see someone remove the excessive water from the floor in the deckchair/sunbed area The bathroom in the room is very large and clean, shame about the lack of bidet The double bed is very large and comfortable They were kind to provide us with a cot for the baby I would happily return Explore Restaurant Goldener

This hotel had the best breakfast options of any hotel. I particularly like the healthy options of a juicer, many fresh fruits and vegetables and wide assortment of yogurts and homemade breads. The staff were exceptional and very accomadationing.

Grand Hotel Lienz 5* is everything you can expect from a 5 star hotel and more. It has a well equipped wellness centre with free drinks, out- and inside pool, a terrace with great views of the mountains and river.
The rooms are quite big and well maintained. The breakfast is a buffet with the option to order from a small menu on your table.
But the great, no, fantastic(!) service is why I am writing this review. The day before departure our car broke down, while we had to drive 7 hours the next day to our next hotel. I asked at the reception whether they could recommend an auto service centre to me. Instead of giving me a phone number they took the responsibility to fix the car as soon as possible. I gave them my keys and the next morning the car was taken to an auto service centre, repaired, and back at 11 AM. I was so happy and thankfull that they were able to fix it this fast.
If you are thinking about visiting Lienz, try the Grand Hotel Lienz to feel right at home!

Beautiful hotel site almost in the center of Lienz, with mountain and river views. Level structure with comfort, care and service worthy of a 5 star. Indoor parking, swimming pools and spa welcome, excellent breakfast at the restaurant with windows and views of the landscape. The suite was very large with sitting area and balcony, very large bathroom with double sink jacuzzi and shower. Perfect stay. Nothing to object to.

The Grand Hotel surpassed our expectations. From the moment we saw the facade and passed through its doors we were so very impressed. The staff greeted us warmly and the food and drink service was outstanding. Our accommodations were very comfortable and well appointed. Worthy of a return visit!
