We had booked a small twin room and chatted to the person checking us in about changing our plans and they upgraded us to a beautiful large suite with comfortable double bed, flatscreen TV (didn’t turn it on so don’t know if there were any English channels), sofa, table and large balcony overlooking the mountains (when we could see them) The weather had turned after a heat wave so it was colder and the room was toasty warm. There was no fridge or tea & coffee making facilities (as most Austrian hotels) but there was hot water and a selection of teas in the top floor wellness area
The bathroom was huge with 2 sinks and lots of room for toiletries, the shower was big as well with great shower pressure
The top floor of the hotel is the wellness floor with different saunas, indoor and outdoor lounge area and a fitness room. There is also an outdoor pool but we didn’t use it in the rain.
The hotel has a restaurant but it only does breakfast & dinner, we needed lunch as well, but there is a Spar supermarket close by where we picked up some salads and sandwiches for lunch (note all supermarkets close on Sundays in Austria) if you are staying you can put your name on the sheet at reception to book a time for dinner, last food serving is at 8pm but the restaurant and bar are open later. We did eat here and had a lovely dinner, great selection and very tasty. Breakfast the next morning was good with a full selection of hot and cold food
We only stayed here one night and didn’t spend time in Lienz so we don’t know how close things are to the hotel, but this hotel had everything we needed for our short stay.
The hotel was fantastic and so comfortable, it appears normal at first glance, but if look closely at some of the things on the wall or on the stairs in the bar you see a quirkiness that we loved – we would definitely stay at this hotel again

A real recommendation!

It is not an adventurous star restaurant, but that is not the pretension either. The map is partly Austrian. The

The hotel itself has been renovated and therefore, the rooms, restaurant, reception area were great. The room we had faced the town and thus afforded us a fantastic view of the Dolomiti. We had a balcony, or rather our section of the balcony had been made separate, moreover private from the other adjoining rooms. We didn't have time to use the sauna but i'm sure it would have been spotlessly clean, like the rest of the hotel.
We had dinner in the restaurant. It was very wet, but despite this, we sat outside on the terrasse which was well covered by modern awnings. The food was magic and well priced. In particular, the Salzburger Nockerl for dessert won me! The food, dessert finished with a glass of schnaps made at the hotel (they brew their own beer too!), this was a perfect dinner.
The hotel has a history and on one particular wall near the restaurent, there are many old photos of the building. Some of the photos show fruit trees in front of it. I am happy so that there are still fruit trees in front of the hotel and a long sloping meadow (which hopefully belongs to the hotel, meaning that they will not be 'built out' in the foreseeable future) before you get to some of the more modern houses on the outskirts of the town.
We were so impressed by this family run hotel because it offered double the cleanliness, triple the tranquility, and quadruple the quality for only €2 more ( €102) than the 'poor' hotel, where we had spent three nights in Zell am See.
All in all, a wonderful place to stay and it is a pity we could only stay for one night.

So we decided it's mountains this summer and we got a suggestion from a colleague to visit Lienz and this pretty hotel.
A little to say we were thrilled the second we arrived.
The scenery was amazing, the pool was the coolest I've ever seen in my life, room was in the new part of the hotel so it was a mix of modern and austrian design. Amazing view from the room and just few steps from the pool.
As there is their own brewery my man was enjoying this stay so much :) and we both loved the food since it was real gourmet experience.
The town is small and everything is near but still, there you can have a walk, you can do some shopping and enjoy little pastry shops and good drinks.
You can also visit mountain above the place and have fun summer sledding down the hill. There is a pretty castle and nearby you can go to Tristach lake and take a swim or a walk.
All in all, we would love to come back.
We got a small table in a corridor(this was not mentioned at the telephonic reservation) where all the staff passed and asked relatively rude to sqeeze us more to the table,
Some of the selected dishes were not available, but not marked on the menue.
We waited very long to get our food and compared to the price they asked for it it was too expensive.
We ordered austrian Burgundy wine, but it was a white burgundy, also not mentioned on the wine-card. No excuse came.
No bread and butter at the beginning were served and we got it only after some complaints.
The service was cold almost unfriendly and nobody asked us hoe we are satiefied.at the end.
we will avoid to be there again next year.
. We booked on a half-board basis, the meal on the first night was very good and served promptly. The second night, a total disaster, it took 2 1/4 hours to deliver the table d'hĂ´te menu, the meal was inedible and it was hard to believe it was produced by the same kitchen as the previous night. The whole hotel appear to have no hands-on management checking on the needs of its clients or the professionalism of the staff. On complaining to the owner/ manager we were given a bottle of wine, however, whilst the gesture was appreciated. We would have preferred receiving the service for which we had paid and for that which we expected. The rooms were clean, but basic as was the breakfast that showed no imagination or flare. I would not recommend this hotel to friends
