Our stay at this hotel was really great. The room, large and spotless, was perfectly equipped with every comfort, as was the bathroom. A big thank you goes to Simona and Alberto, who welcomed us with a smile and were always available to meet any request. They stood out for their hospitality, making us feel at home from the first moment. We really appreciated their advice, which helped us to better organize our days. The entire environment is well-kept, with truly enchanting outdoor spaces and a breathtaking view of the lake that makes the stay even more special. Breakfast was hearty and delicious, with a variety of options for all tastes. In addition, the hotel's location is perfect: convenient for exploring the surroundings and discovering the beauty of the area. Definitely a place to come back!

We booked 3 nights at the Hotel Casali della Cisterna and really enjoyed our stay - after "getting used to" the access road, which was sometimes quite challenging due to its narrowness. The junior suite we booked with a wonderful sun terrace and a direct view of Lake Maggiore is well equipped and combines the charm and ambience of a historic property with the quality and equipment expectations of a hotel that has been lovingly modernized to a high standard. The friendliness and helpfulness of the host couple Simona and Alberto cannot be surpassed! Due to the hillside location, at least older guests could get a little out of breath when checking in and carrying their luggage to the room. Alberto, however, insisted on taking our largest pieces of luggage from us! The quality of the dishes offered on the small menu is excellent, as is the wine list. Breakfast can be taken on the terrace when the weather is right, sometimes in buffet form, sometimes freshly prepared. We found the wonderfully fluffy pancakes prepared by Mrs. Simona particularly worthy of mention, although she did not want to share the recipe with us... For us as drivers of an electric car, the "icing on the cake" of our stay was the wall box that was available for exclusive use with the booked, covered parking space, so that after breakfast not only my wife and I, but also our electric car, could start the day "strengthened"!!

The Relais Casali della Cisterna is rated as a 3 star hotel but as another reviewer noted, it is not the number of stars of the “official” hotel rating that count. Instead, it is the traveler rating that counts, and in the case of the Relais Casali their ratings are a solid 5 star.
The owners, Simona and Alberto Anni, have achieved a balance between charm and understated luxury. They are expert hoteliers, warm, friendly, and knowledgeable and ensured that our two stays in September and October were perfect.
The hotel was a large palazzo built in 1827 with several separate buildings on the western slope of Lago Maggiore. It has large rooms and suites, decorated with a keen eye for style. The rooms are extremely quiet. The well maintained grounds include sequoias and redwoods, walking trails, a jacuzzi, an above ground pool, a hammock, and exercise equipment. The suites have either a private patio or deck overlooking the lake.
The breakfasts include a wide selection breads and pastries, local cheeses, meats, jams, fruit juices, cereals and more. Caffe macchiatos and cappuccinos are available at the espresso bar. The dinner menu includes specialty dishes by Nonna which can be enjoyed the entire day. We dined in most evenings as it was comfortable and enjoyable.
Despite being off of the main lake shore road, the hotel is easy to reach. If you arrive by train it is about a 12 minutes walk from the Belgirate station to the hotel on a paved single-lane road. From the Belgirate docks it is about a 15 minutes walk.
I was hesitant to write this review as I would like to keep the Relais Casali della Cisterna all to myself, 365 days a year. But as my mother always said "You need to share..."

Suggestive and beautiful structure, immersed in a centuries-old park and wonderfully renovated. We stayed with two small children and upon arrival they assigned us a superior category suite with a breathtaking lake view, very clean and really spacious, with some details that we have not found even in certain 5 star structures. Suitable for both couples and children, the relais has a playground, a small swimming pool and a hydromassage tub with lake view. The breakfast is super and the evening bar is stocked and really pleasant for having a drink outdoors. We were given many precise instructions in advance to facilitate arrival at the facility. You can see that the owners, always present, do this job with their heart and take care of the guest. Truly a beautiful experience!

we arrived in the very early morning (0800) because we were driving all night. the normal check in times are at 15.00 and we were told we could check in at about 1400. for now we could enjoy breakfast which cost about 14 euros pp. its well worth it!
breakfast consists of enough options and also some which are made a la carte. the quality of the food is very good, the pastries are selfmade, and lots of very high quality ingredients seem to be used because you can taste how well its done. its not just because the quality of the breakfast that you should enjoy it. the breakfast area is a very tranquil place and has some excellent views of lago Maggiore. well worth to simply enjoy it even if you arent a breakfast person.
during breakfast we were told a room was ready and we could already check in (10.00). This room was a free upgrade to a higher level, just because of Italian hospitality.
The people who run the hotel are not the owners but they seem to take great pride in running an excellent hotel. We asked multiple questions and they gave us good advice on possible things to do and/or how to get there with also multiple options.
There is a parking area outside of the gate and also inside if you want extra security, both are free to use and are plenty big.

The small hotel is owned and operated by a wonderful couple who were always actively looking for ways to make our stay more enjoyable. There are only 13 rooms so the property feels intimate. The heart is a lovely patio with a view of Lago Maggiore, where they serve food and drinks. We met several guests who return year after year, and bring friends. A true testament to the excellent experience.
The location in Belgirate is quiet and convenient. To swim in the lake, walk 20 minutes to the Belgirate's public beach, with a snack bar and several cafes / restaurants. The train-station to access Milan or Stressa (5 min, 5 euro) is a 10 minute walk. The Belgirate ferry stop is a 20 minute walk, and the ferry can take you to all nearby lake towns and the Borromeo islands (20 euro for a day pass). We had a car but didn't use it once. There is a jacuzzi overlooking the lake at the hotel.

Dear guests, we really thank you very much for your kind review and we would like to inform all future guests that we provide a free shuttle service to Belgirate and to the next village (Lesa) for those who do not want to use their car and becomes crazy in finding a parking in Stresa or for those who want to drink some wine in the evening in one of the restaurants beside the lake. Thanks a lot for your stay at Casali della Cisterna! Hope to see you again soon...

It was our first visit to Lake Maggiore and I am so pleased we chose this hotel to spend the last 4 nights of our trip to Italy.
We were lucky enough to be able to stay in the Dinghy suite overlooking the lake, which was amazing. Unfortunately our tour operator really messed up our booking made in December, but after emailing Simona direct, she was able to allocate this suite to our reservation at short notice. The room was very spacious, comfortable and clean and the view was to die for. The balcony had both sun beds and a table and chairs at which to sit and enjoy a glass of Prosecco on an evening.
Simona and Alberto are really friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them to make our stay so enjoyable. Simona speaks four languages so is able to converse with most holidaymakers effortlessly. Alberto was very knowledgeable of the area and gave us advice on how to navigate the lake by bus and ferries and suggested places to visit, which we found interesting.
There was plenty of choice at breakfast and we ate at the hotel on two occasions and although the homemade food was very nice, the menu was a bit limited, however Simone did give us suggestions of restaurants to visit. They have two daughters, Emma and Sveva, who helped their parents one evening and both girls were lovely and spoke good English.
We will definitely be returning to the hotel next September and have already spoken to Simone regarding this. If you are looking to visit Lake Maggiore we would definitely advise you to consider this beautiful hotel, which is run by such a warm and accommodating couple.
Special hello to Kayla their very sweet dog, we’ll see you next year.

What a wonderful holiday we had at Casali della Cisterna. Everything is right and you immediately feel that you are in good hands with Alberto and Simona. Our room was tastefully decorated, fully equipped and with a fantastic view of Lake Maggiore. The grounds are large and beautiful and close, within walking distance is Belgirate with ristorante La Bruma where you can eat delicious. Stresa is also close, which we walked this year via the “Chestnut Path” the “Sentiero dei Castagni” which runs behind the hotel. But that is spicy, for shopping or eating in Stresa you better take the car or a taxi. But... also at Alberto and Simona you can eat delicious. Simona's mom, nonna Lisetta makes delicious lasagna! We were a bit worried about the weather beforehand because it is a bit unstable everywhere in Europe, but in the end it is always not so bad. The sun often comes through and then it is immediately wonderfully warm.

Relay with a very nice location. A beautiful view of the lake from the terrace. View to be admired from the terrace. Breakfast and dinner are also served on that terrace. Very nice sized garden with a small above-ground swimming pool, beach chairs, whirlpool, fitness room, play equipment for children. Also several charging stations for electric cars. Very friendly and smooth reception with the necessary explanation. Hotel is located in a dead end street. Located next to the railway, but that is not a problem. Very quiet environment. We had a beautiful room with a spacious entrance leading to the spacious bathroom. Passage also to sleeping area. The latter was just big enough. Double good bed (not too big), storage cupboard, office with possibility to make tea and coffee. This will be supplemented during your stay. Built-in refrigerator with TV on top. Snacks and drinks available in the room for a fee. We had no air conditioning. Extensive breakfast buffet with the option to order an egg dish or a hot sweet dish (pancakes, waffles). The only thing that was perhaps missing was fresh fruit juice, but the rest was compensated by a very wide choice. There is no real restaurant, but you do have the option to eat something from a limited menu (salads, some pasta dishes). All that at very reasonable prices. Closed private parking on site. Located about 2 km from the center of Belgirate. A car is recommended if you want to eat something there. Ferry station for visiting the lake is also about 2 km away (20 minute walk). Relais also has a free shuttle to the ferry. Stay with a very good price/quality ratio. We enjoyed a very good stay.

A perfect spot to enjoy the lake and its nearby sights, with amazing hospitality that went above and beyond to meet our needs including shuttling us to and from dinner and the train station. Don't skip out on dinner or breakfast onsite, both of which offer exceptional value for home cooked meals. Strongest reccomendation.
