Location...On the beach with boardwalk access to the superb sandy beach. About an hour by Taxi from Faro airport, 65 euros each way. There are small well stocked supermarkets nearby. Rooms... Spotless and superbly attended by cleaners each day. Sea view rooms have sun on balcony all day. Plenty of towels and toiletries, Free aircon free safe and free WI Fi. Meals... were superb and varied with the outstanding breakfast Outdoors... crazy golf tennis court and pool with table tennis snooker/pool table and reading room Entertainment is a matter of taste and it is fair to say I was not impressed every night but found it ok My opinion as to why it is not a four star is in it's sixties design which includes many stairs although there are ramps where possible but the restaurant cries out for lift access. There is a happy hour @ 50% and free wine is given on various celebration days. We only visit in early spring or autumn so my review is based on those times of the year…
Recently returned from a holiday at this hotel . Room not ready. so took a walk down to the cafes fronting the magnificent beach. Sat here and had a drink. Heaps of sun beds and parasols on this beach costing 10€. Room was ready on return. We had a room overlooking the street. The room itself was nicely furnished, clean , with masses of storage and a nice modern bathroom with bath/shower and twin basins, lots of towels provided. The street side rooms however , are completely in the shade so if a sunny balcony is essential to you , then you MUST book a sea facing room. Also NO kettle..... We were on the third floor and it was quiet and we slept well in the comfortable bed. The pool as mentioned in other reviews is great but a real problem exists with people laying towels and not appearing for hours! Also a nice little gym for a quick work out overlooks the pool.beach towels for a returnable deposit. The staff were all friendly and nice, particularly the cleaners and younger receptionists. The breakfast was adequate with English sausages and bacon. Plus the usual Continental fayre although pastries and yoghurts were limited. Seating was odd in that some tables are arranged in long rows so you can be sat with total strangers ! Bar staff were exceptional! Hard working and busy but always had time to chat in their fantastic English particularly Guil. Try their tasty, freshly made cocktails! The bar is where you will find evening entertainment which was not to my taste except for the flamenco show. Fabulous! Monte Gordo itself is a nice town and felt safe. Good choice of restaurants especially the Nepalese restaurant maharajah. Wonderful ! All in all a pleasant hotel for older couples and groups. …
We arrived at this lovely hotel as a group of 6 family members. We had previously visited this hotel in 1982. There are parts of the hotel which possibly remain unchanged from the 1980s but this adds to the charm and character. The rooms are comfortable, very clean and spacious. We are not concerned about the fact that they might need some upgrade. The staff are a real credit to the hotel. One of our party has some disabilities and nothing was too much trouble in terms of ensuring his needs were met, enabling him to have a much needed holiday. The breakfast was good quality. I cannot comment on the evening meals. The pool area needs more sun loungers and it was very frustrating to see sun loungers with towels on for around 4 hours completely unoccupied. This possibly needs addressing. Outside of this we had a wonderful holiday and will return.…
"Rooms on the fifth floor have great views and because there is noone above, there is a clear view of the starry skies at night."Read full review
