I absolutely loved my stay at BNL. It was chilly near the end of August, but I still may have gone swimming if I hadn’t injured my knee. The beach and swimming dock were nice and close and not busy at all. We rented a boat and rode around the lake. The boat had a depth finder, life jackets, and a map of the lake. Our cabin was so cute and cozy; rustic, but clean, well-kept, warm, and comfy. I’ve been to cabins that had a few bugs inside, but these do not have any at all and the appliances, toilet, and shower all worked well. The cabin we were in was so private and quiet and the staff are not intrusive at all, only coming up once a day to empty the outside garbage and they knocked one time to see if we needed anything. The barbecue was clean and new and working, with propane provided, and the fire pit was full of kindling and had a small supply of firewood ready.

The scenery surrounding the lodge is breathtaking and serene. Our cabin was near the start of an absolutely gorgeous hiking trail that ran along the shore and had some beautiful views of the lake.

We spent one night at the drive in movie that has great concessions that you can order online and have delivered to your car.

The provincial park has great walking trails and a tower with an amazing 360 view of the lake and forests all around.

There are so many things I love about this place and I can’t wait to go back.

One of the best trips we have ever taken. We aren't fishing people. We took the "Taste of the North" package available in summer. Highlights were the pontoon boat trip to the limestone cliffs with guide, Greg, who is very interested in nature and was willing to show us bird nesting areas. Another highlight that came with the package was local entertainment... Flin Flon has a great cultural scene so try to take in some live entertainment. "Taste of the North" also had a geology tour which was highly detailed and interesting. (If you aren't science minded, the geology tour might be a bit intense, but was perfect for us.) We also tasted seasoning from the boreal forest, which is super interesting if you like the woods.
The Lodge itself has beautiful cabins and very good food. Dinner menu is limited to a choice between two entrees; which I like because then you know the food is fresh. They didn't seem to have vegetarian options, but always served fish when we were there. Maybe ask if they can accommodate vegetarian... I'm thinking vegan wouldn't be available.
Hiking in the area.

Thanks so much for your positive review. We enjoyed hosting you, and including some local talent in the mix was really fun. We do have some vegetarian/vegan options, and will look into better variety in those areas as there is some demand for it.

These adorable cabins are situated amongst the trees surrounded by the lake. There are nature trails and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.
We loved that we could just bring some food and they had all the amenities such as cutlery, plates, pots and pans where we could cook our meals. They even included propane to use the full size BBQ on the deck where we did cook one of our meals and ate outside on the covered deck.
The next night were able to enjoy a bonfire in the fire pit/grill located in front of our cabin. There are even lawn chairs, adirondack chairs and a picnic table in front of the cabin.
We loved our stay here and will come back in summer next time to enjoy some of the summer-time amenities such as the kayaks that are free to use while staying here and checking out the beaches.

If your looking for a rustic cottage experience, this is your place. I stayed for three nights in a log cottage. It had a small kitchette (dishes and some cookware included), two bedrooms, 3 piece bathroom and a small living room with satellite tv. It was cozy but very dated. Lightning was horrible and the lamps in the room had very little light. If they changed the lampshades and had LED lightbulbs it would improve this very much. Wifi is okay but spotty at the time of my stay (wildfire smoke).

Beds provided are comfy but very interesting. We had a king size bed in each room. But beware, these are two singles pushed together. It wouldn't be bad but one bed was higher than the other, so I slid into my hubby in the middle of the night.

Bathroom had a corner shower and the hot water was very nice. The shower itself definitely is older and had tape on the one wall as a temporary repair. Like I said the cottage is rustic. The pull out mirror was also broken.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

If you don't like dogs then this isn't your place. There was 3 friendly (lodge owned?) Dogs on site. They liked to hang around especially when it was dinner time outside...lol. One of them barked at my son, scaring him but I think he/she wanted to play.

I'm giving a 3/5 rating because of the communication delays with the Lodge, information provided at time of booking and pricing overall (very expensive for what is provided). It took five days for a response via email and phone calls are rushed. They are very busy, but I think they could benefit from a staff member providing customer service/email/ social media solely.

We went the 1st week of June on their adventure package which includes a fly out trip and an atv ride to a different lake in addition to a day on the main lake, all guided. We booked a 4-day 5-night trip so had 1 unguided day on the main lake. Wildfires were in the area, but we received a phone call the week before we were to leave that the fires were contained, and they would be open the week we were to arrive. After driving 1200 miles, we checked in only to find out that our appointed guide was not available and the trail to go on the atv trip to a different lake was not passable. Nothing was said about this the week before when they called. So, we were assigned a part time guide from the office and were told the atv trip would be replaced by possibly another fly out trip or something similar. Needless to say, we had a very good morning of walleye fishing on the fly out trip but other than that, the fishing was poor in my opinion although I did catch a 42-inch northern and a few in the upper 30's. Talking to other guests, the other guides were doing much better. On our last day, we had the same guide instead of unguided, so we thought this was the make up for not going on the atv trip. When we checked out, we asked if everything was covered or if we owed anything and were told everything was taken care of. When we got home, we discovered we were charged for the last day for a guide on my credit card. We called and talked to the office manager about this and were told she would check into it and get back to us. We never heard anything back nor did we get a refund on our credit card. The food and lodging were very good, I would give that part a 5 star. My suggestion to anyone going, especially if you are going on their expensive adventure package, is to call ahead and verify that your assigned guide is still available and the fly out and atv trip is available. This could have been a very nice trip had we had one of the other guides but it's the lack of communication between us and Bakers Narrows that is more disappointing.

The Hype of this place is overrated in my opinion.
I’ll start with the good:
The property was very clean and taken care of. The cabins are dated but they were clean. There is a lot of water activities available. Dock with diving board, slide into the water, kayaks, SUP and a nice beach. The dinners we had in the lodge were decent.
The not so good:
When we checked in they just gave us the key and told us where to go. There was no hospitality. They didn’t explain housekeeping, where everything was located or give us any details about the resort. The boat launch was horrible. It was very hard to use. The docks need repairs. The owner was barely there as he’s more occupied with their new fly out and seems to be forgetting about his mainland resort. I had also asked the owner when I booked the trip if fishing was great this time of year and he had told me yes. We learnt from the guide we hired that September is always very slow and the bite is best in July. We travelled 12 hours to get here and we could’ve came in July instead. They also do not sell ice so if you are bringing a cooler of drinks in your boat, make sure you have some with you. Oh and the fridge is tiny so we had to use a cooler as well.

Lake Athapapaskow is incredible! We will definitely be back during prime time to fish there again. We will just choose a different resort next time.

We have stayed at the log cabins in the past and did not realize we got the micro cabins this time. Micro cabins were a disappointment in value and ammenities. Cabins are one room with TV, mini fridge, microwave, kettle and coffee maker but no sink or bathroom in the cabin. The toilets and showers are in a common building shared by 8 cabins and there were 3 working toilet/shower rooms for the eight cabins when we stayed. The 4 picnic tables and 3 bbq are also shared between 8 units. We appreciated the 4 liter water jug. We found the beds were not very comfortable because they were too soft but that's just personal preference. We felt that 145 per night was a bit steep for these amenities. It isn't much more for the full cabins with bedroom/bathroom/kitchen/living room etc. You also share 2 fire pits among the 8 units so it's not very convenient to have a fire but they do provide wood. We won't be staying in the micro cabins again. The property was nice overall but I would not recommend the micro cabins. We suggested to a staff that they add a mirror to the micro cabins so people could shave without taking one of the bathrooms but they dismissed the idea. Other guests were quiet and friendly so this didn't impact our stay but noisy neighbors in the adjacent micro cabin could ruin your stay. Loved the cell booster, free canoe use and all the amenities we had in the micro. The staff were very pleasant and overall the property was beautiful.

Thanks for your constructive criticism. We strive to make our guests' stay as comfortable as possible. The Micro Cabins are an economy choice, for those who don't want to pay for a log cabin. I'm pleased that you used the free canoe, and that you enjoyed your stay here. As for the mirror in the room, we could look at adding that. It's probably a good idea.

We have gone to bakers narrows lodge several times before. This year was terrible. The fishing lodge had no boat dock to launch a boat with. It had been getting worse for last 2 years. This year it was knocked off its pier, and marked as use at your own risk. They were still making staff use it. We were told only once we were up there that if we wanted something else we had to pay to go to the park to launch.

It's a fishing lodge. You don't wait until the dock is so bad you can fall through it, and yes you can fall through this dock. When you have to lay down plywood to cover the rotting timbers last year it's beyond time to replace the dock

It's also got rocks and timbers right where your boat is supposed to launch making it dangerous for your boat. It had been this damaged for 4-6 weeks before we even arrived.

We were told a guest had already fallen though this dock.

I travel through Bakers Narrow once a year and this has always been the best spot to stay! Reserving the room and checking in has been very easy and they're accommodating. The cabins are very clean and makes you feel like you're living in the woods. I love my traditional hotel but this is always a special stay. I've had incredible meals here as well, sitting around a table for dinner with the owners to joining a group visiting. Thank you for making my stays enjoyable and always making me feel home!

Not to forgot, last year I was taken out fishing with two gentlemam! Highlight of the 8 years staying here.

Had an amazing experience. Daryl Gilbert was our guide and he was very accommodating and knowledgeable and had us on fish right away. Cabin was quaint with most of the amenities needed except an oven- but we made do. Used the bbq instead. Rooms were clean and tidy. We had an issue with our sleigh and had to rent one- was pricey but didn’t have any other options. If it had been cheaper we would have rented for 2 days instead of one. We went to a different lake by truck on our third day. Overall- we were quite satisfied with the experience and are already looking at booking another trip next year.
