Guests appreciate the value, noting the affordable dining options and reasonable room rates. We stayed 10 nights in the hotel, it was just what we needed a nice relaxing break. We booked a room with a private terrace, two sunbeds, an amazing view, and south facing, which meant we got the sun for most of the day. Depending on how able you are or how much luggage you have, I would recommend a taxi up the hill, the road is steep, and the footpath narrows a lot. I lugged two 20kg cases up the hill so it is doable. The reception staff are very efficient and helpful, the room was amazing, fridge, air con, safe, nice and quiet. Our room was freshened up everyday, mainly by Hariom, probably the most professional staff member I ever saw and we have stayed in hundreds of hotels. He was so attentive and made our stay that bit more magical, a true assett to the hotel. We ate breakfast everyday at the hotel and it was very good, coffee machines, pancake maker, cooked food and cold meats etc. Again, the staff were very efficient and professional, the stand out being Daniella, always smiling and so welcoming and professional, no job too small. We ate in the hotel only once and tried the set menu. The service was slow, but I could not fault the staff they were run off thier feet, their were just not enough of them. We got our soup fairly quickly but sat for nearly an hour waiting on the main course, I was going to leave when the food arrived, I advised the waiter who looked like the restaurant manager that I was about to leave, he said they were busy and "this is not McDonald's sir". We had spoke to several other couples and all only ate once in the hotel due to slowness or portion sizes. My experience was the food was good but portions very small. We ate in many great places, Ta Philip is up the steps beside the hotel and the food was amazing the host could not do enough for us. Ferdies is right beside the hotel and the food and service brilliant. The Country Terrace was amazing, we ate there 3 nights and the views were amazing, the host Joseph amazing and the food superb. Bella sicilia at the harbour was very good. By far the best place we found was Giuseppe cafe and bistro, we visited most days just brilliant.

Arrived at 4pm on Friday 16th at Mgarr harbour and found my pre booked car by L&R car rentals just a stone throw away from the Grand Hotel. Rita always very nice and a lovely smile welcoming you, so instantly you feel relaxed.
I checked into the hotel, where very politely and in a lovely manner they take
your temperature and ask you kindly to wipe your hand luggage with wipes. The first impression as always is that of pure cleanliness and a feeling of safety. The receptionists (all) are always so very welcoming, helpful and amazing
They are true professionals. Once my
room key was handed to me, I as usual am offered a welcome drink-orange juice. I went to my standard sea view room and oh wow so clean, so lovely, so comfortable. I turn on TV draw the curtains to take in the stunning views and take a shower. Always hot water instantly available and not to mention the clean soft white towels..
Was time to relax a bit before I go to dinner on the roof top
Mediterranean breeze restaurant. The service and the food was honestly to die
for and once again the views for
the 8th floor restaurant are just jaw dropping. I was now ready for bed. Relaxed a bit watching TV and one is spoilt for choice with the various international channels that's one has.
I was now looking forward to bfast
The staff are always very welcoming and guide you to your table. They ask what you would like if it's tea or coffee ,a full English or just toast or a healthy bfast Again one is spoilt for choice.
I must not forget to mention the housekeeping who work very hard to keep your room spotless and made up
for you to find when you return from your day out.
Also a big thank you goes out to Romain, Samuel, Meghan, Sarah, Elena,
Alma and the rest that I can't remember their names.
Bar staff Francis, Paul, Pushkar
Events manager Zoran
Food and Bev manager Renato
Also Jericho who is also very good with kids
And anyone I can't review
Well done all and a big thank you
As a person in the business I highly recommend this hotel

Situated close to the ferry, lovely location. We were upgraded for fee to a superior seaview

View was amazing and super quite.

Things to improve: towels changed were stinking both pool and bath ones, perhaps check with laundry agent. Reported this to FO and were given new ones

Bkreafast was good however for 4 days everyday was the same good to provide some changes such as omelettes, boiled eggs, waffles, perhaps some chocolate spreading etc, considering its a four star hotel

Rooms are nice and comfortable

Grand Hotel Mgarr, Gozo is advertised as a 4 star Hotel but I personally think that the 4th star is rather generous . What I found is that you have a 3 star hotel with 4/5 star staff and service. The hotels decor is old and tired looking. Worn carpets, walls in need of painting and furniture from a bygone era are very prevalent throughout the hotel. The bathroom was clean and well stocked with toiletries but the shower/bath had the dreaded old plastic shower curtain. The water from and ancient shower head put the water everywhere in the bathroom. The bed sheets were old and worn to the extent that they had gone "shiney ". Two nights we had no hot water due to a "fault". New years eve and a full hotel may have been the fault but the manger addressed the issue and it was sorted by the next day. Unfortunately it happened again but it fixed the second time as well.
The breakfast was a buffet with plenty of hot and cold food which was fresh and well presented. We had dinner on one evening which again was a buffet served in the same restaurant as the breakfast. It was just OK. The big plus with my this hotel is the staff and service. They were so friendly and very efficient. We wanted to hire a car and I enquired at the reception. The recommended a car hire company and organised a hire car for us without any fuss or bother. The car was dropped at the hotel the next morning. Perks like this bring uou back to a hotel but unfortunately its grubby won't. With a little bit modernisation and a lick of paint this hotel could easily, in my view, deserve its 4th star. Its pluses outnumber it's negatives and its staff is its best asset.

I am sorry however that some aspects tarnished your overall enjoyment of the hotel. Our ongoing winter maintenance program will aim to resolve these. Should you return to the island, I would really appreciate if you contact us so that we can arrange to allocate you in one of our newest bedrooms, which we are confident would meet your expectations. My wife and I stayed at the Grand Hotel for 4 nights in September 2021. We enjoyed our stay and were very impressed with our room. We booked a room in the new block but sadly, the block can't have been finished as we were given a room elsewhere. However, the room that we were provided with had magnificent views over the harbour and I loved sitting there in the early morning watching the comings and goings of the ferries and other watercraft.

The room is decorated in an older style but the quality in the main is excellent with a nod to a bygone era. A lovely large bathroom, huge comfortable bed and plenty of space to put our clothes.

The shower lacked a shelf to put shampoo and shower gel bottles so it was necessary to put them on the floor. This would be an easy thing to rectify.

The carpet on the floor 6 corridor looks very old and tired. It is incredibly faded near to the windows and in places looked threadbare. Thankfully, this tired and ugly look is not replicated in the hotel room itself.

One thing that we were nervous of was the number of residents who walked around the hotel not wearing their face coverings and also trying to get into the small lift when we were already the occupants. There are signs telling residents that there are covid rules to adhere to, but perhaps the staff might reinforce this Malta law when staff arrive at the hotel to reduce such instances. The hotel has provided hand sanitizers in a number of locations.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay but would question the 4 star rating based on the need for parts of the hotel to be modernised. But, if you want a view to die for and a big hotel room, then the hotel will provide both!

We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with such detailed feedback about your stay. I am glad the room and the view were to your satisfaction. Whilst the Welcome Letter given on arrival indicates that covid rules need to be adhered to, and the signs around the hotel are, I believe, easy to understand, I am sorry to read that you encountered fellow residents not abiding. Thank you and look forward to seeing you again soon. Kind regards

We checked in on the 12th December 19:00 for 3 nights. We were greeted and offered an orange juice. We were given the room and we noticed that there was no kettle, as per hotel advert. My wife asked reception and they offered us a kettle with a charge of 5 euro per night. When she asked why, she was informed that rooms without seaview have no kettle. We went to dine in the restaurant and we ordered still water after the dinner we noticed that we were charge for a foreign bottle of water, which was wrong. All 3 days of our stay going down to breakfast was a nightmare, as the chef never had replenishing ready and people event went in the kitchen asking for the chef to replenish the breakfast. Last day I was so angry that I had to do they same, as we had an appointment to go to, but wasted 20 minutes waiting to have the replenishment, so I could have my breakfast. The restaurant manager did not say anything and only whispered that it was coming. Than I hear the chef swearing in the kitchen. Went to inform the reception, but for the 3 rd time there was no one, so we packed and went down to check-out. Again, we had to wait for the reception and when I mentioned all the problems we had, he replied " I will make a note". It was clear that he was taking us for a ride. I left my review to the director of the hotel and all I had was, that if I book again directly to them I will get 15% discount, with no apologies or a convincing reason of any of our complaint.

One thing was positive, the 2 ladies in the spa Karen and Grace did a great massage and Marissa did a great pedicure on my wife. Well done to these 3 great workers, you did a great job, thanks.

A very good Hotel situated at the Imgarr harbour in Gozo. This Hotel is very good value for money, 3 kinds of b'fast for starts and you can eat them all. This place is spotless clean with latest technology of how to keep a clean pool wihout smell of chlorine and while you are swimming you can enjoy breathtaking veiw of the Harbour. Automatic choice for me !
Now the indoor pool is ready and I already had a nice and warm swim in it. It is really an amazing Hotel for a Holiday. I wonder how it is only a 4 star Hotel. For me at least it has to be a 4 star Supirior. I must thank The owner who invested a lot in this Hotel and the brilliant staff he has. They'll make you welcome from day one till your Holiday is finished. Looking forward to be there again as soon as possible !!!!!!!

This was our first time visiting this Hotel and from the start it showed lack of attention. We booked a double room with a country view half board. The room we got was of people on sun beds after we requested a room change we were given a different room the following they still with an exceptional view of the street but at least not of people on sun beds for the price we paid (picture below).

Both rooms were nice with modern and classic touch in the design although lacking of maintenance (blown bulbs, leaking shower). Also the first room was not for tall people as I didn’t fit in the bed neither in the shower because of the rainfall shower head.
Both rooms looked clean but towels were not changed thus doubting if bedsheets are changed or not.

On the positive side:

Food was great especially the fresh cooked meat on the bbq and staff was great, very kind and dedicated. Service was fast and also well. The facilities were very nice, the rooftop has a wonderful view of the port, Kemmuna and Malta.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent visit to the Grand Hotel. I am pleased that you enjoyed the hotel facilities and our food offering. Whilst the first Country View room allocated is our most modern one, I appreciate your preferred the view of the alternative room. I have also shared your comments with our Maintenance Manager – thanks for highlighting these. As you may have seen on the sign in the bathroom, only towels left on the floor are changed, as part of our environmental commitments; similarly bedsheets are changed every 3 days unless requested otherwise. Should you return to the island, do not hesitate to contact me and I will personally ensure that the room is to your satisfaction. Kind regards

The rooms are very clean, e were provided with pool towels and bathrobes all packed in plastic.
The breakfast was buffet but served at your table, the waiters were nice, polite and really efficient.

I stayed for a weekend break at this hotel together with my mum to celebrate my birthday. The service proved to be top class throughout our stay. All the staff and especially Mr Samuel Sillato, were very helpful. Our superior room was spotlessly clean and overlooked the beautiful harbour. The breakfast was very good and filling with a great variety and choice of food. As a birthday treat we booked a 90 minute massage for 75 euros each which was very good value of money and Marissa gave us one of the best massages we ever had. I highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing getaway!
