Detailed Reviews
The staff were polite and helpful
The bedroom was very basic and the bathroom tiny
The food in the breakfast bar was excellent, had ever lasting portions and the view fantastic this was definitely its best feature
The location is good for the beach which was a 2 minute walk away but the hotel is a very long way from the ferry quay and you will have a long romp with your bags along uneven tracks to get there . At the edge of the town its also a long way from the restaurants.
If you are on a budget and staying on the island for a week , it might fit the bill, but if you you are only in town for a few nights and want high end in the heart of the town then this isn't for you .

Average hostel located at the east side of the city at only 3min by foot from the beach.
Bathroom rather small and breakfast correct.
The one advantage of this hostel, the very good reception! (I fell in love...;)

The outside structure is beautiful, surrounded in the green.
The room are nice and simple, but very wet. Besides the bed sheet were dirty with refuse of sand.
We had some serious problem with the shower, because there was a little explosion while i was taking the shower, caused by contact between electric cable and water.
So they changed our room and gives a discount.
The receptionist is a girl very kind that try and help us how as she can.
We paied 40 euro for one night for a double room. In my opinion too much, considering the experience.
The breakfast is ok and served at the 3rd floor with a great view.
Position at 10-15 minute walk from pear but with a close access to the beach.

We stayed a while ago and with water floating on the street it was almost impossible to get to this accommodation. In addition, there was hair in the room when we checked in. The staff was friendly, however, there were missing basic amenities, and cleaning was below average. Further, the wifi signal was very bad in the room and sometimes it didn't even work.

FIRST IMPRESSION; This hostel looked nice and was very empty when we arrived. Nice hammocks outside and close to the beach
STAFF; Didnt really feel welcomed by staff, there were also lots of people always hanging around the lobby area (young non-staff males) and the staff would usually play very loud music through a large speaker which was directly next to our window.
DORMS; This was the "suites" hostel (ie private rooms), there was another Che Lagarto with dorms 5 mins away. The beds were hard and when we first arrived, there were a swarm of mosquitos awaiting to eat us alive!
BREAKFAST; The only aspect of this hostel that I can say was OK, with bread/ham/cheese/cake etc
FACILITIES: The kitchen was the filthiest kitchen Id ever been in with insects on every utensil, no washing up liquid and a stone age camping cooker. Everything was just dirty which meant we ended up eating out every night (nice but pricey!)
INTERNET: barely ever worked
OTHER; Quite far out from main shops and yu have to walk through a dark area for about 10 mins - quite intimidating for a solo female
Would we stay again? Probably not.

We spent a few days on the island during a very busy season. We had booked a night at this hotel as this was one of the last ones available, besides the fact that they had a ridicilous high rate, they lost our booking. So when we arrived at the reception the young girl there glazed us as if it was nothing, told us the hotel was full and continued her chit-chatting with her colleague. It took some further 5 minutes until someone else thooght she should try to help us, but this second person was unfortunately very poorly trained. She just started to call random hotels instead of looking for availabilities on some websites. And when calling she was just asking if there is any room free without saying that she works for a hotel and without explaining the background of the problem. We ended up in a kind of a torture room at some locals. The room had no windows and only an ancient fan, as noisy as a helicopter. It was about 40 degrees Celsius, very humid and I thought the fan will soon fly through the room. It was even worse when a strom caused an electricity cut and we had to melt in our steam bath generously arranged by Che Lagardo for the rest of the night. The mosquitos seemed to be very fond on this room and finally on ourselves. We were so happy as at 6 am we could finally leave this place.

We checked in on Wednesday for a four night stay. We did not closely examine the room as there were few rooms available for a four day period due to a Brazilian holiday beginning on the Friday (a surprise for us). The rate was, we thought, very high for a hostel suite at 220 Reais (nearly $100) per night. The first night proved to be difficult. The bed had a heavy plastic mattress protector that seemed too big and bunched up. The fitted sheet did not fit at all, even after we removed the plastic protector. It was just too small to even pull to all four corners, The fridge functioned poorly and was noisy. The air con had no remote control (they said someone stole it) and was located at a height of approximate 2.3 m above the floor. There was no chair in the room to stand on to operate the controls. We stole one from the lobby. The shower door slid with great difficulty. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling in several places. Several electrical outlets did not work, thus making it necessary to unplug air con or fridge or bedside lamps to charge flashlights, cameras or iPad. There were no glasses in the room. No ventilation possible without aircon. Mosquitoes in abundance. We had an unhappy, uncomfortable night. We complained the next morning. The staff response was attentive, apologetic and prompt. They corrected the bed problems, left the chair for us to use for our entire stay, apologized again for the lack of a remote, and provided us with an plug-in mosquito killing device. They also allowed us to keep the glasses we stole from the kitchen area. These responses were good and made the following three nights much more pleasant. The young staff wanted us to be comfortable and happy and we appreciate that. We still think several of the long-term problems, the air con control, the shower door, the electrical outlets and the mold, should not be present for the price charged for this room. However, this is the responsibility of the company to address; it would leave the staff in a better position. Che Largarto Suites do, by the way, have an excellent location, out of the downtown noise, a few meters from the beach and the best restaurant available, Lua e Mar.

TERRIBLE PLACE
We had a contract for 4 nights
We only spent the first night at the inn and we had to leave, very bad service, bed with cockroaches, the bathroom was leaking water, the bathroom door was all broken underneath, you couldn't sleep there, the room was humid.
We are a couple and they gave us two single beds and they did not change it for us
all wrong
I would not return, the photos lie
