The room is spacious and pleasant. Cleaning is not provided (for 4 nights for 2 people there is only 1 small bottle of shampoo, conditioner and body lotion). The restaurant is kind of like a small beach bar. Very early check out (10:00am). There is not even a changing room and a shower. The reception staff is unhelpfull, arrogant and unfriendly! After several requests for a later check out they extended the time by 1 hour. After some negative feedback and assurances from management that they will fix things, nothing has changed! Total disappointment and never here again!
The resort was beautiful, maintained exceptionally well and right on the beach. The staff was exceptional. There were many activities that you could participate in right at the resort. We would stay there again in a heart beat.
During "prime season / new years week" Without advance notice to guests, Management opted to bring in bulldozers to repatriate the beach making it completely unusable for a full day of our stay. To contribute to the nightmare, our group occupied 3 rooms, 2 beachfront, and 1 pool-front, in the evening when we returned to the hotel w provisions to have cocktails and food on the beach side units balcony we arrived to find a movie (star wars like) blaring at a volume level of 10 making this side of the hotel completely unusable as well. The manager assured us that we would be taken care of for this massive inconvenience. To Date ( almost a full month later) NOTHING has been done!!! I strongly encourage you to opt for another plce to stay...
This is a very lovely property that would be so enjoyable except for the staff that has zero interest in you. We arrived after 4:00 which is the designated check-in time. Registration clerk continued to mispronounce my last name despite being corrected - smarmy attitude that I was introduced to - told me the room wasn;t ready and couldn't say when it would be. Never texted me despite my request. Pool bar attendant wouldn't serve us because we didn't have a room number and our order was below there mandatory CC limit. Next day, wouldn't extend our check-out time. The staff glares at the guests as if they're the enemy. no interest in you and you are just a bother. the Restaurant - Pelican - is a woeful excuse. Go elsewhere, Plus they then played games with the charges and rates causing a check-out headache.…
Worst experience ever! We are frequent travelers and have never experienced what we saw at Flamingo Beach. We stayed for 10 days, room hasn't been cleaned even ones, no change of towels. Embarrassing and very sad that Hilton chain conducts business in this manner. To does who will read this review, don't waste your money! P.S. it's was our holiday vacation.
We had a really nice stay at this hotel. Clean, well maintained and great staff at the beach bar. Short beach though due to location. We stayed on the first half of our trip on the french side with a long beach for walks, so it was ok for us. Only small minus is the early check out time at 10 am, and that fellow travelers reserve the beach chairs early in the morning and don't show up half the day. There are signs that after 90 minutes unattended items will be removed, but that is not enforced.
We have traveled quite a few places and this was probably the nicest resort we have stayed out. The pool and pool bar and restaurant was great. The staff was always super nice and willing to try and accommodate and please. Details were really thought out, simple things like including a laundry basket in the unit to make it easier to take your laundry to the free on site laundry room was nice. Can't beat the fantastic beach and it was great to have beach chairs and umbrellas available and included free. Only three tiny negatives. One the bed was very firm. Two the smoke alarm sent security to our unit twice, seems the steam from the shower may have been setting it off, we just ended up keeping the door closed after showers until steam disappeared, but a bathroom vent might have helped. Three the pool side music sometimes had inappropriate lyrics and wasn't really what I or I suspect the older crowd would have wanted to hear. I did complain and it did get better.…
The people are all very friendly and make you feel welcome. Our condo was very clean upon arrival. We were supposed to be near another condo with family but were not able to accommodate. The area felt safe and secure and concierge set up a boat ride excursion for us. Several restaurants within walking distance although watch for the pot holes and very unlevel sidewalks (if there is one). There are 2 small private beaches and a pool with 2 hot tubs, all very relaxing and mostly quiet. The staff try to keep the "beach walkers" (locals selling items) at a minimum yet they are friendly.
In no order: Bathroom The water pressure is a 3 out of 10 in the shower: While there is a somewhat large area amount of water that pours out, it's the water pressure that is terrible; the water doesn't even spray fully across, instead it drops just about straight down, due to no presure coming out. The toilet seat was cheap, off track, not aligned/broken. The shower had built of yuck/dirt on the tile. The tile was faded and tired There was built up dirt on the bottom portion of the door on the inside of the bathroom Kitchen: Coffee pot had a broken / non matching top to the carfe; when ever you pour coffee, it would spill all over. Toaster from hell: It fully cooked a bagel in approx 45 secs! While this may seem like a praise it's not. No one expects a thick bagel to be fully cooked in less then 1 minute, this is a potential fire hazard. Bed: The bed at this hotel was given very high praise by other reviewers. be Warned, this is the most firmest matress I have ever slept on in my life. There is zero softness to this; no plush made into this matress. If you have any back injury at all, this will cause you great harm The sofa/bed was attempted to be used by us, however this too was teriibly firm + this was quite old and clearly needs to be thrown away. Issues mentioned to Hilton associates (several times): A waitress at the bar/restaurant was informed the chicken was pink (under cooked), her response was "where ?" + she also added "I can throw it away for you, since it's raining now and can't go to the kitchen. " We got into dicussions with multiple Hilton staff members about this, phone calls, promised we would here back from this issue....but never did We parked our rental correctly in one of their parking spaces. The front desk called our room to demand us to move the car, calling it an 'Emergency'' because they had to trim tree. Paid for a Balcony room. This Hilton attempted to try and pass a first floor room to me. I explained to the check in associates that the word balcony by itself was in fact not a first floor and instead asked them to look up the word balcony on a dictionary: Balcony: I.E. - 1. a platform enclosed by a wall or balustrade on the outside of a building, with access from an upper-floor window or door. "the glass doors opened onto a balcony with a view of the park" 2. the upstairs seats in a theater, concert hall, or auditorium. This Hilton was forced to change my room. Anyone in the recent past that has been duped by this hotel with their Balcony room to you on the first floor may want to contact their credit card for a dipsute, as this is fradulent by This Hilton. Anyone in the future that is given a First Floor and you booked a Balcony, make sure you take care of this fraud ASAP Grounds: The Pool is big, however in no way lavish. After seeing the pool it only gets worse from this point; even on the hottest day (86 degrees + humid) the pool felt a little too cool (thermometer read 80 degrees in pool) and uncomfortable, during the afternoon. After the sun set, the pool got cool very quickly, thermometer 78 degrees in pool. The pool was cooler on all other days and too cool at night to go in. The two hot tubs read 100 degrees at their highest during my stay. 100 degrees is in no way 'Hot' for a hot tub. Each tub appears to hold up to 12 people, the jets were clogged on most of them and your shoulders stuck well above the water (if you weren't slouching down a good amount). These were tired and poorly designed tubs + they were set too low temperature to enjoy them. The Gym, if you want to call it a Gym had 5 machines: 2 treadmills, 2 bikes and one stair climber only. No weights/nothing else! The size of the Gym was fairly small to accomadte their limp 5 machines as well. I've seen poor apartment complexes with a better gym over this one. Basketball court had the cheapest backboards you can buy or make yourself; a joke of a court. Asked the front desk if we could check out later, their checkout time is Very Early (10:00 AM), was told we could checkout at 10:30 which is all they offered. The next morning came and someone came to our room at approx. 9:45 AM instead , in an attempt to clean the room; we packed up our things and left a couple minutes later, onward to checkout. Our room was cleaned only once during our six day stay, yet this Hilton charges you $25.00 per day/resort feee for cleaning. We were charged an additional $18.00 after we cheked out, even after we were printed an itemized bill....for no given reason…
Older hotel recently rebranded as a Hilton Vacation Club. The price is right, so it's an acceptable stay if you are coming to the Dutch side of Saint Maarten. Don't expect much in the way of Hilton benefits (even as a Diamond I struggled to get late check out, finally getting them to agree to Noon). Standard checkout is a ridiculous 10am. The rooms are on the older side but acceptable and do have nice balconies and water views. The little beach is pretty as well. There is no food on property they go get the food from the property next door but there are restaurants on the road to the property and on the main rood (Italian, Thai, etc). The gym is sad, barely can get a workout there. Do offer laundry machines and free detergent, really nice touch there.
