Three of us stayed in the two rooms on offer at Birchill B&B while visiting the Sherbrook Village Old Fashioned Christmas. The B&B was perfect- the room was warm and the extra bed ( futon) which I used, was very comfortable. Tea and biscuits were provided on arrival and the breakfast was very filling. The best thing was the hot tub. It was a cold snowy evening and after wandering around Sherbrook village this was the perfect place to warm up. I highly recommend staying at this B&B if you want to visit Sherbrook village. The garden looked beautiful and I would like to see it in summer.

The good and the not so good - We were delighted to find this B and B close to Halifax but more rural and quiet. Overall very honey - reminded us of B and B's in rural England years ago. Roslyn and Tim (and their dog) are lovely hosts but there were a couple of issues. - the room is great - on the ground floor so no lugging suitcases. But it's a basement room so smelled a bit dank, and had not been thoroughly dusted in ages. As we plugged in the alarm clock we found huge dust balls everywhere behind the furniture and on the baseboard of the wall heater. We dusted as best we could but were surprised. - the private bathroom is right across the hall which is great - lovely tiled shower. Plenty of space for your toiletries. -But given the toilet is across the hall maybe provide large size robes for guests. I AMA skinny guy and they even didn't fit me. Maybe one large and one medium robe? - breakfast was AMAZING ! Fresh blueberry pancakes and perfect French toast with bowls of fresh fruit. All in all a good value but much more like staying with your cousin than a proper B and B

Let me start by saying that we are not B&B people and this visit validated our reasons why. The selection of lodging in this area is limited and we decided, after reading trip advisor reviews, to give B&B's another shot. It seems that so many proprietors of B&B's have traveled very little if at all because, if they had, they would be aware of necessary amenities. PLEASE provide space for necessities in the bathroom. Empty shelves, vanity top, etc. The bath that we used was located across the hall from our room. Not ideal but the space was lovely--a beautiful tiled shower and spacious bathroom. BUT very little surface on which to lay toiletries, shaving kit, hair dryer, etc. We stayed in room 2 w bath 2 across the hall. There was a small glass shelf adjacent to the pedestal sink and a small tray table across the room. The room was large enough for a nice vanity or other shelving. Frustrating. I ended up laying things on the floor. These B&B rooms are located in the lower level of a home and have a private entrance. Loved the private entrance. Be aware that there is NO A/C and the space was quite humid. Linens are not the place to cut corners. Ours were pilled and rough. We had reservations at a B&B in Parrsboro for a 3 night stay. After this experience, we cancelled and instead made reservations at a motel! No more B&B's!

The grounds of this B&B are extensive with a small pond and loads of lovely gardens. Whilst having breakfast (which was good) we saw a coyote which had, unfortunately, killed one of the hens overnight ! The rooms are large and each has its own bathroom which is across a common hallway.

We stayed in room one with no step access through your own private entrance. The bathroom, while private, is not ensuite, but across the hall from the inside door of your room. Lights are left on at night so you can find your way. Breakfast is up a staircase with railing on one side if you have mobility issues. Outside entrance to reception and breakfast room is not accessible if mobility issues. Beautiful garden and friendly dog. Free range chickens for enjoyment. Lovely quiet setting. Very close to Sherbrooke (15 km) so great place to stay if visiting the village for the day. We spent five hour there. Eat in the village, at the Bistro, or go to Liscomb lodge as evening dining is scarce.
