We tented here for 4 nights. The campground overall is nice. The sites are well-maintained, but not super treed in if that’s what you like. It’s not a wide-open campground as there are still a lot of trees providing shade, but not a ton of privacy between the sites.

The showers and bathroom in the campground are dirty. My husband came across someone “cleaning” the men’s room twice, but commented that it wasn’t much cleaner afterwards. If they cleaned the women’s bathroom, I couldn’t tell. The showers in the women’s bathroom were not cleaned at all while we were there and don’t appear to have been cleaned in a very long while. The bathrooms attached to the restaurant were very clean, so we often opted to go there instead (too bad there weren’t showers there too!) I was *this close* to bringing my own cleaning supplies to clean the shower. Shower footwear is a MUST.

It’s nice and convenient to have a store and laundry area. The laundry room was clean and the machines worked good. We didn’t try the restaurant so can’t comment there. The staff was nice at the store. The lady at the office seemed quite friendly.

The kids loved both the big playground and the small one in the campground. Nice to have both!

Overall, it was nice enough here but we wouldn’t return unless we had our own RVs with showers and a toilet.

Stayed here overnight so we could get back on the road the next day, as we were driving to Banff. 'Campsites' are very narrow and have no privacy whatsoever. We spent over 25 minutes trying to angle our vehicle so it would fit in the spot. There is no cell service in the entire 'campground' but wifi is provided, however do not rely on it as it has a very fragile connection. The bathrooms were alright, a little dirty, would use sandles in the shower... Didn't really feel safe, it was very cramped together. Overall felt like an RV storage lot. Wouldn't stay here for multiple days, but I guess it was okay until we got back on the road in the morning...

Thank you for taking the time to complain. Our sites are all pull through so not sure why it took so long for you to figure it out. There is no cell service on most of this Hwy as we are on a mountain pass. We provide wifi from a satellite for emergencies. Next time you could consider camping on Crown Land to compare what cramped really is. I suspect you came when we were at full capacity. Good to see so many getting out in nature this year!

We spent one night in a full service site and very much enjoyed our time here. It's a beautiful area, gorgeous mountain views and lots of to do in the campground.

Our site was a pull through full service. We have a 28 ft trailer with two slides and it was tight getting in and it didn't leave much room to park the vehicle. It had a picnic table and fire pit off the to the side.

Wood is available for $10 a bundle at the store or from the hotel office.

The kids loved the rocket ship park beside the parking lot, there is also mini golf beside the park. There is a volleyball net and an additional park up near the campsites.

There is no cellular service in this area but they do have satellite WiFi in front of the office. It didn't work great but was good enough to be able to upload a photo or send something though FB messenger.

Abraham Lake is beautiful and there is a trail that leads down to it from the campground or just take in the mountain views from the top of the trail.

We would very much enjoy camping here again, next time for longer.

My bf and I stayed 2 nights in the David Thompson motel with our dog and made some wonderful memories! We will be returning next year for a longer trip for sure. So much to do and see in the area! If you’re coming to sit on your phones/laptops and expecting a luxury hotel, this is not the place for you. So many online reviews are people complaining about slow wifi and no air conditioning and someone even complained about the lack of an elevator. Seriously. I can’t help but wonder if they forgot that they’re in the middle of nowhere and that this is indeed a motel. Go take a look outside around you! You’re surrounded by mountains! That’s the beauty of this resort. If the price per night is too steep for you perhaps you should stay elsewhere and let the people who love the great outdoors enjoy it! My only small complaint is the rooms could be a little cleaner but for the very short time we spent in them it’s not worth crying over. Can’t wait to go back! Thanks for existing DTR!

We were through here and stayed in the campground with our motorhome. This was last year and by reading this tear reviews nothing has changed, just got worse. Garbage overflowing, The grounds were not kept up. Last year the restaurant was open (not sure if is /or not at this time) But it was the most disgusting cold, wrong order, ever. People were coming in that had stayed in the motel rooms, looking at the "buffet breakfast" and and leaving, even though it was complimentary with stay. This resort use to be the finest, cleanest, and accommodating tourist stopover. It is too bad the present owners have no idea about customer service, or pride in their property; they had the possibility of operating a HUGELY, Successful financially business!

1) During our stay I was told my Aunt had passed away seeing as there is no cell phone service in the area but they do offer wifi (which is a crap connection and doesn't work after 4:00 p.m.) I went into the office to ask if we could have access to their fax machine or email and was told we don't have either although their business cards list both. I required access as I'm executor of her will and two documents needed to be signed. It's sad that I travelled to Jasper and walked into Astoria Hotel and was helped within 20 minutes. Drive 20 minutes east of the resort by the lake and your cell works. 2) We went into the convenience store a gentleman was trying to purchase bacon and the clerk asked him what do you think you should pay for it. My husband went in as we had ran out of eggs and they initially wanted to charge him $10.05 and my husband exclaimed what and then proceeded to charge $6.05. As for the camping site it was alright as we didn't have issues thank goodness as the customer service doesn't exist. 3) This place used to be a great place to visit as this wasn't our first time but it will be a frosty day in hell before we go back.

We travelled 3.5 hours in car yesterday, Aug 16/21 to check this place out for a huge family reunion next summer. We had a reunion there in 2013, and it was fairly priced at under $100 a night in the motel. We did not have a bad experience then, but heard they had renovated the rooms, which was why we decided to take a day trip there, to check out the new and improved place. What we got was nothing but attitude. When the "lady" working the office handed us the price list we were shocked. The rooms are now $259 a night for 2 queen beds. When we questioned the huge price increase, she told us that us city people need to understand the cost of running a place like that. When we asked about the pool, she said that would cost even more to fix and that the prices for next summers rates are probably going to increase again just for the pool! She told us to phone her in the future to book everything for our reunion, but we told her the family would never pay those prices, she turned her back on us, walked away and said over her shoulder, "enjoy city life then". I turned and told her I didn't even live in a city, I live in the country, she just shrugged and left us there. If you are looking to enjoy the view and relax for a good price, I suggest going to Nordegg and getting a room there and drive out to the many lookouts we found for a nice afternoon of the same view without having to break the bank or dealing with the attitude. We also found, along the same highway with the same view and trails, a few very nice campgrounds.

I am torn about this review.

We booked 3-Nights with one of the Full Service Cabins.

On their website, I must of misread when their Steak and Lobster weekend was, as I bought a Steak and Lobster ticket thinking it was for the weekend we were there.

However, I was wrong. They state there are no refunds, which sucks as the Resort is fully booked for that actual weekend, as well as anything near by is fully booked. I guess spending nearly $1000 for a cabin and $90 for Steak and Lobster isn’t enough to constitute a refund exception.

We also experienced some issues with our stay in the WIMs Cabin.

Someone, one morning turned on the water to fill the tank for the Cabin, and left it on for over 24 Hours, we honestly didn’t know. However, the tank kept overflowing that entire time, causing a loud noise ever 2minutes for the entire day and night.

A squirrel was able to get into the Cabin somewhere under the kitchen counter, discovered that one morning, when a squirrel was trying to eat some cookies out of a box.

We probably will never come back to this resort, as the $90 lost with no refund is very disappointing 😞

Hi there, Our apologies for the water left on - not sure if someone came through your site and turned it on or what happened. If you had contacted the office, we would have rectified it immediately. The squirrels are sneaky and are part of the resort no matter what we do. Welcome to the outdoors!! The tickets are not refundable and we told you we would do our best to RESELL them for you. We think that is fair considering it was your error. We do our best but unfortunately cannot satisfy everyone's expectations and perspectives. Hope you have a nice rest of your summer!

I stayed in a basic cabin (highly over priced at $170.00) "Basic" means, heat only as the gas lamps did not work and staff didn't know how to change a mantle. It was pouring rain while I was there, and since there were no eaves troughs, it hit the door and ran underneath and across the floor! Surprisingly, the bedding was clean and smelled good. The porti-potties were all full ( I checked several around the campsite) and ALL were close to overflowing. The main shower building did not have paper toweling so everyone had to use toilet paper. The garbage's on site were ALL overflowing and no one seemed to be emptying them. There also seemed to be a shortage of garbage bins. I was so disappointed. I went to meet family who also had power issues with their RV site. The 15 amp RV sites were the same price as the RV site with full services - power, water and septic! I will NEVER go back. The scenery is beautiful, but this campsite is a blemish on our province of Alberta!

You must have been here during a very busy weekend. It can be difficult to keep up with toilets but we will endeavor to staff up better next year. The lack of garbage bins is due to being in bear country. We have 2 huge garbage bins that are available or would you rather have the bears coming around nightly? The RV sites are priced differently between 30 and 15 Amp as well as Full Service and power only sites. Incredible that some people have GREAT things to say about this campground...beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
