Detailed Reviews
Nice residential condo unit rented out and managed by hyatt?
Website accurately describes everything so no surprises.
Beautiful view. Clean and well acommodated.
I had none of the problems of previous reviewers.
Extra towels brought out if needed but you need to ask for them the day before as they are not going to stand around 24 hours per day for you. Or you can simpily use the washing, takes only an hour at most and a few minutes to throw your clothes and provided gel detergent you know.
Unfortunately the beautiful resort encroahes and desteoys the natural environment, but i the user is equaliy guilty for paying them to enjoy this resort. It is a mixed enjoyment when fully aware of the damage caused by these developments. Guilty as charged.
There are the typical resort stores and a grocery store, rstaurants and tourist stores. Think nice condo with almost everything you need. Extras like snorkels surfboards kayaks bicycles are not provided but fridge utensils and kitchen hardware mostly adequate.
Check in quick and staff helpful. Cleaned one a week and after people checkout. Clean your mess then you would be ok. This is not a hotel, it is your home away from home while you are there.
The big island is still a paradise, but human controlled and modified, but to a much lesser extent than oahu... we took every advantage of these human improvements startinf with landing at kona airport, renting a car driving a nice two lane asphalt highway to mauna lani and to this beautiful resort built on top of an old lava flow by the ocean. Maui is visible. Sunsets are beautiful and the bortles are such that the milky way galaxy can be enjoyed to its fullest glory. It may be worth staying just for a little peek at our home galaxy. The private beach access makes snorkeling with tame tropical fishes worth almost as much as the peek at the galaxy. Hawi is a short drove north and the aiport maybe a short thirty minutes or so south. Hilo is about an hour drive and loa and kilauea another half hour. Drive to the 9000 ft visitor center for the mauna kea observatory is off about half way to hilo. Drive to the top is allowed condition permitting, is you have a 4x4. Rangers are therento make sure idiots without proper equipment do not attempt to get to the top. Kea is 13000 feet sot its up there. Kea is another human encroachment that i enjoyed. Not sure how all this is felt by the native Hawaiians, but innocence has been breached.
The residence is a nice place to come back to from all your activities and to forget about all the breaches to nature.

Room Tip: The big island is a beautiful place. But we have breached its innonence long ago.

Our one bedroom unit is part of Destinations by Hyatt. Only a few units are within Hyatt, so you run the risk of being disappointed or thrilled with your assigned unit. We reserved an ocean view unit on the top floor. We got an available ground floor with very slim ocean view and nice fairways views. After lots of discussion, we were moved after 3 nights to an excellent top floor with great ocean views. The units are owned by someone without much regard for updating furniture or amenities. Both units had well used furnishings and soiled carpets. Hyatt staff does a great job with cleaning but only so much can be done with old stuff. The cost for these units are high, so you expect the owners to provide a high end product.

We had a great time at the condo we rented through Hyatt. Although we rented a two bedroom, we were upgraded to a three bedroom. The condo was on the top floor and had a fantastic view of the ocean. We were able to sit on the very large balcony and watch the sunset each evening. The pool was a nice size and close to our unit. There was a very large outdoor kitchen there, with several grills. There's a grocery store every close and we were able to take a break from eating out for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The beach club was a big surprise. They have excellent snorkeling there. I wish we would have had a longer stay to relax and take in more of what the place had to offer.

The condo was next to the fairway and had everything we needed. In a gated community and very quiet. Many beautiful beaches close by. Would stay here again next time. Drive to the volcano to about 2 hrs from the hotel. Something to watch out for.
