I’m just so glad my mother and I decided to stay at Snail Trail this august, in time for the last (as far as I’m aware) residential weaving and dyeing course. We were complete beginners, and Martin expertly introduced us, holding our hands at the beginning and encouraging us to trust ourselves later on. I’d been really keen to try ikat, and Martin helped me come up with a beautiful but workable design for a scarf that a beginner could complete in five days. And I LOVE it. No one believes I wove it myself. I wear it whenever I can. My mum wove a gorgeous rug, which now has pride of place in her bathroom. Every day she gets such a buzz from seeing it and knowing it’s something she made. The BnB at Penwenallt Farm was stunning. It was so nice to be surrounded by fruits and crops grown by Nina and Martin, and to eat of them every night via Nina’s wonderful cooking. The rooms were very comfortable and full of fascinating art from around the world. Breakfast was fantastic too, with homemade honey and jams and fresh bread. Martin and Nina were so helpful with everything we needed. We had so much fun seeing the sights in Pembrokeshire - St. Dogmael’s Abbey ruins and the market, lush walks in the nature reserve by Cilgerran, drinking on the river in Cardigan. Thank you Martin and Nina. We were so happy to get a glimpse of what you’ve achieved at Penwenallt Farm and to come away with things we’re so proud of. Good luck with the tapestry, and to everyone in your lovely family. Now to try and talk my family into playing Lingo!…
We had the most wonderful stay at The Snail Trail B&B. We were welcomed and shown to our beautiful, cosy rooms as we were attending a wedding locally. In the morning we were served a locally produced full English (Veggie option also!!) and had a lovely chat with the owners, we’d highly recommend!
It was lovely to stay with Nina and Martin for the second time. (We have had 2 weddings at Rhosygilwen) it’s a lovely quiet setting with picturesque scenery. Nina and Martin are both very welcoming. The bed is very comfortable and once again had the perfect night sleep (I must invest in the same mattress) and the breakfast is to die for. I love having home made bread and jams (damson being my favourite). We would love to bring the children up for a stay in the not to near future just so they can see the beautiful and peaceful setting. It’s lovely to also chat at breakfast with you both, your very knowledgeable. Many thanks for another lovey stay. Tamara & Quentin xxx
My daughter and I were looking for somewhere to holiday together for a week, that was beautiful and peaceful, and we found the perfect place at Penwenallt Farm, staying with Nina and Martin. The food was delicious (we couldn't get enough of Martin's home made bread!), the rooms were very comfortable and well appointed and there was lots to see and do locally. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this special, charming, welcoming spot.
We stayed at Nina and Martin’s home for a family wedding nearby. They were extremely welcoming, from tea and cakes in their beautiful garden on arrival to the generous cooked breakfasts with homemade bread, jams and honey. The accommodation was comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. A lovely, tranquil place to visit.
