A great atmosphere and friendly staff and clientele. The food is traditional pub grub and all the better for that. Lovely Lamb Henry and Steak and Ale pie. Great local beers. Recommended at lunch and in the evening.

We had a lovely quiet night and the Inn was lovely. The room was clean and quiet and also had a great shower! Great food perfect for post walking, we ate in the bar which had a great atmosphere. The whole experience was fuss free and very down to earth! We would definantly visit again.

After a longish walk what do you need most other than an open fire, a neggle boggle ale and a steak or chicken pie? This place was excellent and just what was needed in the very heart of the Lake District. Cosy friendly and about £65 for a x4 family meal without pudding.

Had dinner there after a very long fell climb and walk - great pub - food fantastic - the fish and chips excellent....and a great choice of beers. Very popular all year round - best to reserve a table in the restaurant to be sure of service

This is a lovely place to stay. On the two occasions we have stayed here it was very crowded in the evenings as the bar is very small. On this last visit after standing scrunched into a corner while we enjoyed a pre dinner drink we discovered that there was another room with tables where we could have sat. Perhaps... More

Still my favourite place in the Lakes, beer and food are excellent and the accommodation is what one would expect in a very old traditional pub. Well located with excellent walking for all levels (inc disabled) right on the doorstep.

Have been visiting this pub/restaurant for last 14 years during our annual visit. In the past we have been more than satisfied with both the food and service. This time the food was as good, but prices have been increased. The wine list has reduced in size but selection good. However BE AWARE the service charge is applied to all... More
